Local H

"Chicago power duo Local H will release its first-ever greatest hits collection, Local H: The Island Years, on April 5th as part of Universal Music's ICON series. With this release, they join the ranks of a select group of legendary artists who have been touted by Universal as representative of a genre and a generation, including Johnny Cash, James Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss and.... Hoobastank. To celebrate this honor, Local H will take a trip down memory lane, embarking on "The Singles Tour: All the Hits All Night," on April 14th (itinerary below)." [PR]
Hoobastank!

Local H will head out on "The Singles Tour" in April, playing "all the hits all night", and hitting both Knitting Factory Brooklyn and Mercury Lounge along the way. All tour dates below...

With Velvet Revolver (roffle at that name/band, forever) officially dunzo, Scott Weiland and the rest of the lads in Stone Temple Pilots, who recently played SXSW, are touring off of their forthcoming self-titled album which features "Between The Lines" (video below). That tour now includes a show at the relatively tiny Gramercy Theater in NYC on 5/18 (Tuesday). Tickets go on sale at 10AM Friday, if you're into that sort of thing.

And speaking of the Gramercy on May 18th and the 90s, Local H will play a separate show with Kinch at the same venue on the same night. Tickets are on sale for the NYC date of their "The 6 Angry Records" Tour:

It's all in the numbers... Local H is taking a cue from their sold out, 7 night stand in Chicago and taking all 6 of their studio albums on the road. Every night, the band will put all 6 of their records in a hat (sorry guys, no b-sides); one lucky (?) member of the audience will be selected to pull a record out of that hat and Local H will play it front to back. On the spot... No, really.

And the nominees are:
Ham Fisted
As Good As Dead
Pack Up The Cats
Here Comes The Zoo
Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?
12 Angry Months

Awesome idea for a tour.... Neurosis, Sonic Youth, Bjork, are you listening? Local H on the road in support of 68 Angry Minutes, their live DVD that hit the shelves in the tail end of last year. Local H and STP tour dates, and some videos are below...

in Boston: The Brainwaves Festival

! I have no idea when they added the Stella show at Union Hall, but Union Hall's site reads "SOLD OUT: no tickets are available". It's a warmup for the upcoming tour and shows at Nokia Theatre. It's not clear whether Michael Showalter will also be performing with Eugene Mirman at Union Hall this Sunday. How was the Showalter/Black show at Caroline's?

Local H goes on at 7:45 tonight at Webster Hall (or someone just told me maybe 9:00).

Bishop Allen also plays MHOW on Sunday.

Tonight was supposed to be the first of two Flower Travellin Band shows at Knitting Factory.

NY Dolls added tonight's NJ show since I last posted their tour dates that include Irving Plaza in December.

Ludacris is playing Highline Ballroom Tuesday night.

Bjork turned 43 yesterday.

Karen O was born today in 1978.

Steven Van Zandt was born today in 1950.

John F. Kennedy died today in 1963.

Grails played Union Pool last night. Video below...

Local HLocal H's new album "Twelve Angry Months" is out this week...

"The first single is "24 Hour Break-Up Session," a serviceable "Don't Fear the Reaper"-"Teen Spirit" hybrid, but the real gem is "Michelle (Again)." Bouncing around like an oomphed-out Rick Springfield ditty, it explains away third-party break-up assumptions with brilliant stuff like: "She got what I don't want / What I don't what is always what I got."" [J Feindt for Radar]
Local H were supposed to play Luna Lounge in Brooklyn on May 18th, but Luna Lounge is still closed until further notice so that show has been moved to Union Pool instead.

The second song streaming on Local H's MySpace page right now is a nice cover of TV On the Radio's "Wolf Like Me". All tour dates below....

Richie Ramone

Richard Reinhardt (a.k.a Richie Beau, Richie Ramone) (born August 11, 1957) is an American drummer best known for his work with the punk rock group the Ramones.

Before working with the Ramones he drummed with Velveteen, and is also reported to have drummed with Annie Golden's band The Shirts. He joined the Ramones on February 13, 1983, at a show at Utica, New York, after second drummer Marky Ramone was fired. He took part in the Subterranean Jungle tour of 1983, where he signed autographs as "Richie Beau", which was the name he went under whilst drumming with Velveteen. [Wikipedia]

Richie recently lost a copyright infringement lawsuit against Wal-Mart, Apple, and Real Networks. Richie will NOT be appearing at the upcoming Joey Ramone birthday bash. Those who will are listed below....
