TVOTR @ MHOW (4/12)

"...the immediately captivating Nine Types of Light movie is now available to stream on YouTube and purchase via iTunes, the same day the brand new, and largely beloved album of the same name hits streets. TV on the Radio's approach to promoting this album - through not only words and music, but also by epically re-imagining the album visually - is a truly forward thinking moment brought to you by one of music's most groundbreaking acts.Watch the entire movie at the end of this post. The list of directors and tracklist is down there too.
The film includes a music video for every song on the album. The band personally asked their friends and the filmmakers they admired to help direct the music videos. Tunde Adebimpe, the director for the film, storybooked the music videos together with interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future. Tunde also directed the music video for "Forgotten."..."

The Hold Steady @ Northsix in 2007 (AngryCitizen)

Brendan was at The Hold Steady's second of two shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg last night, 1/31, and had this to say:
"Remarkable set. One of my favorites, no doubt. Great crowd energy, band seemed to be having a great time. Keys or no keys, they still rule.If you missed both shows, tickets are still on sale for their April 8th Terminal 5 gig.Craig noted that they played their first show there eight years ago to the day when it was North Six on January 31, 2003. Interesting that they're now closer to that lineup than they were for most of their existence. Full circle."
Videos from the MHOW shows, including proof of Craig's comment about 8 years, and both setlists below...

Keith Fullerton Whitman

Conrad Schnitzler's Con-Cert: If thunder was a distant, beautiful room moving towards you with you in it, this is what it would feel like to feel your way around it's edges. Made me think of the following Germans: early Tangerine Dream, early and late Klaus Schulze, Elmar Schulte, and Asmus Tietchens. Yet, it didn't sound like any of them. A masterful abuse/finessing of the ping . . . low, high, and middle. I haven't mentioned my confusion as to who was actually playing here, but I think I've figured it out. Keith Fullerton Whitman was at the controls, the conduit through which Schnitzler flowed. Nice torch. [Heart as Arena]Last Sunday (5/17) simultaneously marked the end of NYC Popfest and No Fun Fest here in NYC. Today simultaneously marked the end of photo coverage of both events here on BrooklynVegan.com. No Fun one is HERE, and day two is HERE, and the bit we have of Day Three (Lori really was not having fun by this day), is below...
