NYC's Summerstage 2014 schedule was just announced and as always it features a number of free and not-free "benefit" shows in Central Park. Some highlights of the free shows include:
6/28 - 'Club Classics Live!' featuring Sam Sparro; Ultra Naté; Kevin Aviance; Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin & Norma Jean Wright (ex-Chic); Company Freak w/ special guests. Plus DJ set by Andre Collins, curated by Jason KingPaid shows include Beck, Conor Oberst / Dawes, Counting Crows / Toad the Wet Sprocket, and more.

SXSW has just announced another round of bands for the 2013 edition of the annual music festival that will happen March 12 - 17. This brings the total current number of acts to around 1300. Someome of the highlights include Vampire Weekend, Frightened Rabbit, The Thermals, Black Lips, Camera Obscura, Merchandise, Bleached, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Eagles of Death Metal, Parenthetical Girls, Indians, Night Beds, IO Echo, KEN Mode, Prince Paul, Pure Bathing Culture, Sepalcure, UK motorik post-punks TOY, Finnish instrumentalists K-X-P, Toronto's Moon King, UK indie rockers Splashh (not Brooklyn Splash with one "h") and loads more. Sondre Lerche @ MHOW in September (more by Tim Griffin)
Sondre Lerche will be one of the many acts at the now-sold-out Bell House Haiti Benefit tonight (1/27). Sondre goes on tour after that with opener JBM. JBM is NYC songwriter Jesse Marchant, who's now signed to Partisan Records. The label will release his debut Not Even in July on April 13th. Sondre is also scheduled to be at the Michael Dorf-produced Music of the Who show at Carnegie Hall on March 2nd. That show includes a lot of big names and City Winery regulars. They include Living Colour, Robyn Hitchcock, Matt Nathanson, Sondre Lerche, Postelles, Bettye LaVette, Mose Allison, The Smithereens, Gaslight Anthem, Bob Mould (of Hüsker Dü), Fab Faux, Asaf Avidan, Willie Nile, Vanessa Carlton, Rich Pagano, Nicole Atkins and Steven Bernstein & The Music Unites Choir. Tickets are on sale.
