Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...
My Bloody Valentine, Dumb Numbers @ Hammerstein Ballroom
Shoegaze vets My Bloody Valentine are nothing short of legends and pioneers, with great material that speaks for itself and some of the most inventive guitar playing of the past few decades. This year they shockingly returned with mbv, this first new album since 1991's classic Loveless, and they've also been doing some tour dates since its release. The tour finally comes to NYC thsi week for shows at Hammerstein Ballroom tonight and tomorrow. Opening is Dumb Numbers, the project of Australia's Adam Harding which features contributions from Dinosaur Jr's Lou Barlow and Murph, Jesus Lizard's David Yow, Melvins' Dale Crover and more. Not positive who's in his live band, but we know Murph is for sure.
Anna Calvi, Gems @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
The sweeping, widescreen style of music Anna Calvi makes isn't exactly "pop" in the current sense of the word, but it is still enthralling. Especially live, she's a truly powerhouse performer with a spine-chilling voice and serious guitar chops.. Tickets are still available, highly recommended.
Elvis Costello @ The Capitol Theatre
Power pop pioneer/all-around great songwriter Elvis Costello is fresh off a collaborative album and show with The Roots, but this month he's back to the solo format for a tour that hits The Capitol Theatre twice this week, tonight and tomorrow.
Sky Ferreira, Smith Westerns, Gang of Youths @ Webster Hall
Sky Ferreira's recently released debut album, Night Time, My Time, is big, arena-ready pop with a rock edge, and she's out supporting it with garage poppers Smith Westerns.
Humanbeast, Profilgate, Pvre Matrix, Nick Klein @ 285 Kent Avenue
Two excellent purveyors of minimal/darkwave Humanbeast and Profligate team up for this show at 285 Kent which should turn into a dark, gothed-out dance party.
Mahogany, Domino Kirke, Metalleg, Men and Whales @ Glasslands
Currently working as a duo, local shoegazers Mahogany are back in action after a five-year hibernation.
Dylan Fest @ Bowery Ballroom
The annual Dylan Fest returns for its first of two nights at Bowery Ballroom tonight. The show will feature Bob Dylan classics performed by a number of musicians, including members of Black Keys, The Hold Steady, Heartless Bastards, The Mooney Suzuki, and more.
Mike Birbiglia @ Union Hall
Comedian Mike Birbiglia does another of his informal 'Working It Out' shows at Union Hall tonight.
Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
Wyatt Cenac does his weekly Night Train comedy show at Littlefield with guests Jon Glaser, Brooks Wheelen, Myq Kaplan, Sasheer Zamata, Andy Haynes, and more.
Today is Veteran's Day. Thank you for your service.

It's been seven long years since Brooklyn/Detroit/Chicago dreampop band, Mahogany released their terrific Connectivity, one of the '00s more underrated albums. Mind you, it took them six years to make that one, so maybe they're just on a normal schedule. The band (currently Andrew Prinz and Jaclyn Slimm) came out of cryo-sleep this year with a new single, "Phase Break," another perfect block in Mahogany's pristine wall of sound. You can stream it below. The track is from the band's new album which will be released "as soon as we can."
In the meantime, Mahogany have been playing shows again. Did anyone catch them at CMJ? They've got two NYC shows lined up next month. They'll play a free show at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on November 2, on a bill with Frankie Rose, Monogold and Heavenly Beat. Then they'll headline Glasslands on November 11 with The Bright Silence, Metalleg, and Men and Whales. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
All dates are listed, along with the "Phase Break" stream and the video for their 2006 single "Supervitesse," below...
