The Rolling Stones played their first of three shows in Tokyo at the Tokyo Dome as part of their ongoing world tour on 2/26. Since it's right around the corner, we decided to stop by (the day after we saw Nine Inch Nails), and here's what we saw. Pictures (including one of the setlist) from the show are in this post. They continue, with video and the setlist from the 3/4 show, which saw them playing "Silver Train" (with Mick Taylor) for the first time in 40 years, below...

The Rolling Stones are currently on a North American tour which brought them to Oakland last night (5/5) for a show at Oracle Arena. They played a bunch of the usual favorites like "Tumbling Dice," "Get Off of My Cloud," "Miss You," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and so on. But most excitingly, on their version of the blues staple "Little Red Rooster," they brought out another blues-lover, Tom Waits, to help them perform it. Check out a video of that performance and the setlist from last night below.

As mentioned, The Rolling Stones are going on a North American tour this year (Mick Taylor included). The tour was set to kick off in LA on May 2 but was pushed back a day due to NBA playoffs, and will now begin at LA's Staples Center on May 3. However, they did a surprise show at a much smaller LA venue last night (4/27): the 320-cap Echoplex club, as Reuters reports. A picture of the setlist and a video from last night's show are below.

Still no NYC dates announced for this run, but they'll make their way over to the Northeast for shows in Boston on June 12 and 14 at TD Garden and in Philly on June 18 and 21 at Wells Fargo Center. Tickets for those shows and other North American dates are still available.

Updated dates, including three shows in Chicago, are listed, along with the setlist and video from Echoplex, below...

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones have announced a new set of North American dates booked for May/June, that include stops across the continent. So far the Northeast is in the band's sights, but no NYC date thus far. But there is plenty of room in their schedule for one.

The tour, titled "50 & Counting," will celebrate five decades of the Stones, and will include Mick Taylor, a member from 1969-74, as a special guest on all dates.

The band will treat their generations of fans to an evening of classic Stones hits like 'Gimme Shelter', 'Paint It Black', 'Jumping Jack Flash', 'Tumbling Dice', and 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll', curated with lesser known gems, and a cover or two.

The stage design for the tour is based on the band's ubiquitous tongue and lips logo, which extends out into the crowd, allowing the Stones to interact directly with their audience. Known for their ground-breaking sets and use of cutting-edge technology, the Stones' set design will feature video screens and special effects that will enhance the high-octane experience of attending a live Stones' show.

All tour dates are listed, along with video, below.

The Rolling Stones wrapped up their '50 and Counting' shows at Prudential Center in Newwark, NJ on Saturday (12/15), after playing the same venue two days earlier. In addition to those guests, John Mayer (who was a surprise guest at the first Prudential Center show) and Gary Clark Jr. (who was a guest at their Barclays Center show) joined the band for a cover of Don Nix's "Going Down," and The Choir of Trinity Wall Street again joined them for "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

Mick Taylor w/ the Stones in London last month
Mick Taylor

We already knew that Bruce Springsteen, The Black Keys, and Lady Gaga will be showing up at The Rolling Stones second of two Prudential Center shows (12/13 and 12/15), and we're now excited to find out that former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, who played with the band from '69 to '74 and showed up at their London shows but not their Brooklyn show will be joining them at both Prudential Center shows. It still remains unclear if former Stone BIll Wyman ('member from 62-'93), who also showed up in London, will be at the shows, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.

The 12/13 show is still on sale but the 12/15 show is sold out, though as mentioned, it will stream live though cable, satellite, telco, and online via Yahoo! WWE.

In related news, Stones saxist Bobby Keys will be playing a Brooklyn show in between the two Prudential Center shows with his band The Suffering Bastards (which features members of Georgia Satellites, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Lynyrd Skynyrd & John Fogerty) at Brooklyn Bowl on Friday (12/14) with The London Souls. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

The Stones will also play the 12/12/12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at MSG tonight which will stream live from multiple theaters, websites, and TV channels.

Mick Jagger w/ Mary J. Blige in London last month
Jagger and Blige

When The Rolling Stones played their two London shows in November, they were joined by a number of guests including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman, Florence Welch, and Mary J. Blige. And now they've revealed that Blige will also join them at their Brooklyn show at Barclays Center this Saturday (12/8), along with upcoming blues riffer Gary Clark Jr., who takes after a similar lineage (Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, etc) as the Stones and probably owes a bit of his sound to them as well. Tickets for that show are still available.

The Stones also play two nights at The Prudential Center (12/13 and 12/15), the latter of which will stream live. Tickets for both of those shows are still available too.

A video of Mary J Blige doing "Gimme Shelter" with the Stones in London is HERE and more videos and the setlists from those shows are below.
