I don't know who the secret guest is at Union Pool tonight (10/12), but we do know that Mike has a good friend named Cass McCombs. A video of Cass playing with Mike Bones in 2010 below...

What else?

Cass McCombs (whose MySpace says he is from Chicago/New York) was in NYC in July and August, playing two shows of his own (at Joe's Pub and Union Hall) and appearing unannounced (sort of) with Mike Bones at the Cameo on August 13th. At that gig, Cass played behind Mike Bones along with Doug Shaw aka Highlife aka Sleepy Doug Shaw from White Magic.
He'll be back (or is he already here?) for a show at Bowery Ballroom on Monday, November 9th. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25th at noon.
Cass McCombs' new video for "The Executioner's Song" was directed by Aaron Brown, who also directed the video for McCombs' "Dreams-Come-True-Girl." Both of those videos are posted below...

Phosphorescent @ Prospect Park in June (more by Tim Griffin)

Phosphorescent and Tune Yards team up for a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg this Saturday (September 5th). Mike Bones is also on the bill. Tickets are still on sale.
After that, Phosphorescent has two weeks of tour dates in October that include a stop at Farm Aid in St. Louis, Mo on October 4th which is kind of awesome, but not surprising since Matthew Houck (Mr. Phos) has become friendly with Farm Aid president Willie Nelson ever since Willie became a fan of Matthew's tribute album. Also on the bill of Farm Aid this year: John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds with Jamey Johnson, Jason Mraz, and Wilco. Rumor is that (very prolific) Willie and Phos may even have something else in the works.
Tune Yards (Merrill Garbus), whose debut, BiRd-BrAiNs, was re-released in August on 4AD, is heading to Europe for a set of shows, some of which are with Dirty Projectors (who have their own NYC/N.A. dates coming up). She'll be back in North America and playing shows in October. Her scheduled gigs include a Tuesday, October 6th show at Union Hall with Dragons of Zynth. Tickets are on sale now.
All tour dates are below...
Mike Bones (not to be confused with Sean Bones) plays a show at Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn tonight (8/13). Mike Bones opened for Cass McCombs at Joe's Pub in July, and supposedly Cass will be playing with Mike again tonight.

The Annex is advertising tonight's show as "730p Safari So Good/8:15p Mike Bones/9p Special Guest!!!/10p Growing" (Social Registry bill). Anyone know who the special guest is? Mike Bones' tour dates say he is playing with Sian Alice Group (a UK group also on Social Registry). Maybe they are the guest for whatever reason.
Growing's friends and fellow noise-niks Sightings are also playing a show tonight (Feb 13), but in Brooklyn - at Union Pool with True Primes, Sabir Maten, Andrew Barker, and Hill Greene. Growing are also opening for Boris March 4th at Knitting Factory. A bunch of tour dates and videos below....
