Jason Isbell at Bowery Ballroom (more by Fresh Bread)

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, will team up with Langhorne Slim, Jesse Sykes and Phil Wandscher, and Mimicking Birds for a Paste-sponsored tour in middle November. Tickets are on sale now for the NYC show happening at Highline Ballroom on Wednesday, October 20th (the 2nd day of CMJ 2010).
All four bands also have tour dates outside of that fatal-four-way. Langhorne Slim has solo dates leading up to and after the tour. Jesse Sykes & Phil Wandscher will play with sunn/boris at ATP and Brooklyn Masonic Temple. Mimicking Birds has dates with Cloud Cult & The Tallest Man on Earth.
And Jason Isbell & 400 Unit have dates that intersect with a newly announced Deer Tick US tour that does not hit NYC sadly (it does end in Philly though, so something is sure to be announced) (and Deer Tick just headlined Webster Hall earlier this month).
Deer Tick's LP The Black Dirt Sessions is out now and features "Piece By Piece, Frame By Frame" available above. As previously mentioned, Mountain Man joined Deer Tick on stage at some of their recent gigs. Now there's video proof. That video with all dates for all bands mentioned, below...

"The 2010 Lollapalooza line-up is official: Soundgarden, Green Day, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, and Phoenix will headline, joined by Social Distortion, MGMT, Jimmy Cliff, Hot Chip, and The Black Keys. With 130 bands on this year's bill, its sure to be a weekend long feast for the ears. After extremely accurate early leaks and then much teasing, Lollapalooza oficially announces this year's lineup. Check it out below...
It's a monumental year for Lollapalooza, filled with homecomings, reunions, and first-times. Soundgarden, 1992 and 1996 Lollapalooza alumni, return to the Lollapalooza stage for their first performance since 1997. Green Day will rock Grant Park sixteen years after their first Lollapalooza appearance. While Lady Gaga will headline the festival only three short years after playing the BMI stage at Lollapalooza 2007.
Arcade Fire returns to Grant Park, having played the reincarnated Lollapalooza in 2005. This is the first Lollapalooza for The Strokes - and also their first show in four years. And making their Lollapalooza debut: Phoenix." - Lollapalooza

Modest Mouse played Terminal 5 in NYC on Sunday, March 15th, with openers Japanese Motors, Tab the Band, and Mimicking Birds. It was the last date on the band's spring 2009 tour with Jim Fairchild of Grandaddy filling in on guitar for Johnny Marr of the Smiths who has had the job for a few years (on a somewhat related note, one day after Johnny wasn't here, Morrissey was).
In related news..
Modest Mouse plans to release the music video actor Heath Ledger directed before his death in January 2008. [Ledger] helmed the animated clip for "King Rat," a bonus tune off 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. No specific date has been set for the release, which is expected to happen "soon." The video was animated by [director/animator/Monty Python member] Terry Gilliam....More NYC show pictures, and the setlist, below...The band will drop a 7" orange vinyl single April 18 (out digitally April 21) with two new songs, "Satellite Skin" and "Guilty Cocker Spaniels." Though the band hasn't confirmed any other releases, New Jersey record store Vintage Vinyl reports MM will offer three more singles before releasing an eight-song EP, No One's First and You're Next, this August.
Modest Mouse will perform "Satellite Skin" on the Late Show with David Letterman on March 18. [Spin.com]

New York, NY - Modest Mouse will hit the road for a brief run of dates beginning February 22 in Oakland, CA. The dates include a stop in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium and a headlining slot on the Langerado Festival in Miami, FL on Mar. 8. Jim Fairchild of Grandaddy will be playing guitar with Modest Mouse on this tour. Mimicking Birds, the newest signing to Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace label, will be the opener on all dates.Does that mean Johnny Marr is too busy rehearsing for The Smiths reunion to tour with them this time around? Just kidding. Actually, does Jim playing with them even mean Johnny isn't?
This announcement, along with Deerhunter and the Gene Ween Band, makes Langerado a little more appealing.
All (not even close to NYC) dates below...
