As previously discussed, this weekend is the Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama (May 20-22, 2011). As we wrote, "Hang Out Music Fest is heavy on the jam bands, but will also feature appearances from Paul Simon, The Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Foo Fighters, Motorhead, Cee Lo, Girl Talk, Minus The Bear, El Mariachi Bronx and many more over its three days." If you can't be there, iClips will be streaming performances online all weekend.
Speaking of Paul Simon, his tour just got bigger with the addition of another NYC show.
Speaking of My Morning Jacket and streaming, they'll be streaming a live show on May 31st directed by Todd Haynes.
Speaking of Foo Fighters, Motorhead and El Mariachi Bronx, BBG writes, "there's something wrong with the world when Motorhead is hitting the road supporting Foo Fighters, but nevertheless they're doing that right now with Biffy Clyro. Those dates include a showing at the Hangout Festival and conclude when Foo Fighters hit Sasquatch on May 27th."
Foo Fighters are also planning a trip to the Northeast, and have announed more dates that include one in the NYC-area at Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ on 9/26. Tickets go on sale 5/20 at 10AM and support at the NJ date, as with all dates on that leg, will come from Rise Against (who just played T5 twice two weeks ago with Bad Religion) and Mariachi el Bronx (who recently played Highline Ballroom, are also playing Hangout, and are playing a boat as the Bronx).
All FF tour dates and some video is below.
The Bronx at Fun Fun Fun Fest (more by BBG)

Mariachi El Bronx recently played dates with Devotchka (including two nights at Highline Ballroom), and now the band's punk older brother The Bronx have scheduled a show in NYC aboard The Queen of Hearts on 6/22 (a Rocks Off Concert Cruise). Tickets are on sale.
Both The Bronx and El Mariachi Bronx have some other dates in their near future too. The former is playing a FREE (with RSVP) Sailor Jerry-sponsored show at The Parish in Austin, TX on 5/4, the same month they appear at Sasquatch. The latter is on board for Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama (May 20-22, 2011). Hang Out Music Fest is heavy on the jam bands, but will also feature appearances from Paul Simon, The Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Foo Fighters, Motorhead, Cee Lo, Girl Talk, Minus The Bear, and many more over its three days.
Speaking of three day festivals that Foo Fighters, Cee Lo and My Morning Jacket are playing, Lollapalooza just annnounced its full 2011 lineup (in case you missed it).

Devotchka at Public Assembly as part of the BV Day Party (more by Chris Gersbeck)

After recent shows during the uber-hectic CMJ, in the tiny Bowery Electric, and even under the big top, Devotchka has settled down from playing odd NYC shows and signed up for a tour and a plain ol' pair of NYC dates with Mariachi el Bronx at Highline Ballroom on March 23rd and 24th. Tickets for both shows, and other dates of the burgeoning tour, are currently on fan presale. The NYC shows (23rd here, 24th here) go on general sale Friday (1/21) at noon. All dates (which look like they include SXSW as well) are below.
Devotchka is currently streaming a new track "Contrabanda" at Soundcloud from their upcoming LP 100 Lovers. It's also available for purchase on an ANTI- sampler available via iTunes. 100 Lovers is due on February 15th and the band will celebrate with an unusual Record Release party in Denver, CO on 2/12 that includes a hotel package if you wish:
Please join DeVotchKa for another Valentine's show you won't soon forget... Ticket package includes 2 tickets to the show, a commemorative screen print poster, plus accommodations for Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver. Tickets and poster will be waiting for guests at the hotel upon check-in. Once you order the package, DeVotchKa Music will take care of booking and will contact you with further information.More details on that special Devotchka show can be found at their site. Full tracklisting for 100 Lovers is below."Funky, cool, and playful, the Curtis--a Doubletree Hotel--is a unique boutique hotel located in downtown Denver. The 336-room, 'pop culture' themed Curtis features interactive video art and themed floors, along with state-of-the-art fitness center, complimentary wireless Internet, and The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar."
Mariachi El Bronx have been involved in some new material as well, as part of Armistice with Beatrice Martin (Coeur de pirate) and Jay Malinowski (Bedouin Soundclash). Look for the new EP in the near future, but until then stream new track "Mission Bells".
All tour dates and some video is below.

Mariachi el Bronx @ MWTX (not-SXSW 2010)

[The Bronx] has an alter ego: Mariachi El Bronx, which released an album last year and showed up Wednesday night at Emo's in traditional embroidered mariachi costumes with traditional instruments, from trumpet to guitarron. It performs the Bronx's repertory, but with long-lined melodies and the rhythms of Mexican rancheras and sones. It turns out that Matt Caughtran, the Bronx's lead singer, doesn't have to shout; he can carry a tune. And the Bronx taps a side of Los Angeles that many rock bands ignore. [NY Times]The pictures here are from Mariachi El Bronx's set at MWTX Fest's first day in Austin, TX on Friday, March 19th.
The Bronx and their alter-egos Mariachi El Bronx start a run of three NYC-area shows with a gig at Maxwell's tonight (4/1). Tickets are still on sale.
They go on to play Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 2nd, then after a pair of out of town shows, Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday, April 6th. Tickets are still on sale for those.
Opening the shows will be Dead Country and Violent Soho, but not Japanther as previously reported ("Due to circumstantial differences").
Japanther did play at new show space Party Expo last night (3/31) with Boys Who Say No and Filthy Savage though. How was that?
