Kirsten Gillibrand has won re-election as New York State's junior senator and President Barack Obama has been declared the winner of New York's 29 electoral votes, according to NY1 projections based on exit polls.P.S. Don't forget Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will both be live on Comedy Central tonight starting at 11pm.
After three years in the U.S. Senate, Gillibrand will serve a full six-year term after her projected victory over Republican challenger Wendy Long.
"Tonight is such an important night for the direction of our country," Gillibrand told supporters in her victory speech. "From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you enough for the honor and the privilege of serving this state."
Reflecting on the effects of the storm that devastated low-laying areas of New York City this past week, Gillibrand said the damage from Sandy "cuts to the bone." Seeing New Yorkers come together to assist their neighbors in Sandy's aftermath "reaffirms and deepens by core commitment to fight for your family as much as I do my own," she said.

As for the theme song, Adele and cowriter/producer Paul Epworth are channeling classic John Barry-era Bond and will be drawing comparisons to Shirley Bassey. A lyric video of the song is at the bottom of this post. (you can also buy it on iTunes)

Ted Nugent talking to NRA peeps about Obama
"Rocker Ted Nugent said Wednesday he is scheduled to talk with the Secret Service following controversial remarks he made about President Obama and his administration.Romney, who Ted is/was rooting for, hasn't called out Ted by name, but Reuters reports, "Republican candidate Mitt Romney's campaign called for civility on Tuesday after aging rock star Ted Nugent made an apparent threat against President Barack Obama before an audience of U.S. gun lobbyists."
The 63-year-old Nugent, who recently endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, said during a recent National Rifle Association convention that the administration was "vile," "evil" and "America-hating."
He also said that if Obama is re-elected, "I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."
The Secret Service said Wednesday the agency is aware of the comments, but would not say whether Nugent will be interviewed about them.
Nugent, who said his comments were not a call to violence, said on Glenn Beck's radio show that he will meet with agents Thursday. [Fox News]
