The Flaming Lips @ Webster Hall '06

The Flaming Lips are playing a free show on Sunday, April 19th in the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Earth Day Network/Green Apple Fest show also has moe., Los Lobos, DJ Spooky and others on the bill. Chevy Chase is acting as emcee, and the entire event will be streamed online, from 1-6pm that day, via EarthDayTV.net

Other cities, including New York, will also be hosting Green Apple Earth Day weekend events on April 17th - 19th. So far, the only official NYC concert planned is an Earth-Day-volunteer-only "thank you" show with Deep Banana Blackout at the Bowery Ballroom on Sunday, April 19th.

Green Apple Fest brought acts like Islands and Ghostface to different NYC venues on Earth Day weekend in 2006. Last year the Fest with the Earth Day Network coordinated concerts in eight different cities. Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder and Big Head Todd and the Monsters played the New York one.

Also this summer, the Flaming Lips will be playing the Pitchfork Festival on Sunday, July 19. The band is also co-curating and headlining a night of ATP NY in September.

Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are excited to announce the initial lineup for the 2009 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The eighth annual four-day camping and music festival will be held on June 11 - 14 on the same beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. Every year Bonnaroo seeks to make history by offering unique and exclusive performances by rock's greatest legends as well as its most significant newcomers. A full list of confirmed acts follows, and more will be announced in the coming weeks. The final Bonnaroo 2009 lineup will total over 120 bands and over 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days. Tickets go on sale exclusively through www.bonnaroo.com on Saturday, February 7 at 12:00 PM Eastern.

As rumored, Bruce Springsteen (who just played the Superbowl Halftime show) and Phish (who just had some trouble selling tickets to other shows) are headlining this year's Bonnaroo. Nine Inch Nails (who played Lollapalooza last year), Beastie Boys, David Byrne (who has two shows coming up at Radio City), Wilco, Al Green, Erykah Badu, TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (who are also playing Coachella), Andrew Bird (who just played Carnegie Hall), The Decemberists, Bon Iver, Animal Collective (who are very popular right now), Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, Santogold, Grizzly Bear (who have a new album coming out), St. Vincent, Ted Leo, Crystal Castles, and many others are also on the bill according to the now-officially announced initial lineup.

Coachella announced their initial lineup less than a week earlier.

Metallica played Bonnaroo in 2008. Metallica played NY & NJ this past weekend.

Mr. Brownstone played Bowery Ballroom recently. It was a very drunken affair - the kind of party that would go well with New Years. Bowery Presents thinks so too. Mr. Brownstone are playing New Years Eve at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY. They go on at 9pm (early). Tickets are on sale.

A 9pm show in Brooklyn should leave plenty of time to get to Manhattan before the late-late Les Savy Fav show begins at Bowery Ballroom. I still don't know what time they go on (2 or 3?), but it's definitely after the Patti Smith show which probably doesn't even start until 10. Tickets for Les Savy Fav go on sale Monday November 26th.

Also playing late-late (2am doors), but at Mercury Lounge: The Virgins. Tickets are on sale. That show happens after Earl Greyhound and the Big Sleep finish up.

Also happening in NYC on New Years: Dresden Dolls @ Manhattan Center, Dean & Britta @ Maxwell's, Moe @ Radio City Music Hall, Gov't Mule @ Beacon Theater, and Benevento/Russo/The Join/U-Melt @ Highline Ballroom. What else?

Without going into all the gory details, let’s just say it’s got to do with a skateboard, a 12-foot bowl, and a now-torn ligament. This is NOT anywhere near as bad as the Liverpool accident from a few years back, though...Ryan expects to be playing guitar again soon.

For now, enjoy Neal Casal playing an excellent (if right-handed) Iommi to Ryan’s lighter-weight-and-fringeless Ozzy.

On September 1, 2007, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals are playing Moe's annual music festival...

The Eighth Annual moe.down will be held August 31, September 1 and 2 at the Snow Ridge Ski area in Turin, NY. moe.down is an annual party for moe. and its fans. The band will perform a total of six sets throughout the weekend. Early Bird Tickets are on sale NOW through moe.ticketing. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster and online through Snow Ridge, at the Snow Ridge Box Office, or by phone at 315-348-8456. Buffalo fans can pick up tickets at Terrapin Station,1172 Hertel Ave, Buffalo NY.

There are a limited number of Early Bird Tickets. They will be on sale until they run out or June 1st, whichever comes first. A limited number of tickets will then be $95 until they are sold out or until August 12th. Tickets after that be $110.

In addition to moe., this year's performers include Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Amos Lee, Strangefolk, Meat Puppets, Al & the Transamericans, Ha Ha The Moose, State Radio, Ryan Montbleau , The Brakes and Acoustic Forum. More bands will be announced in the coming weeks.

The moe.down promises three days of music, camping and fun at the Snow Ridge Ski Area in Turin, NY. The site is about an hour northeast of Syracuse, at the edge of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Ski lifts will be open, so bring your mountain bike!

The Brakes playing this show are not Brakes Brakes Brakes that are playing Mercury Lounge with Pela.
