Still depressed that those Phish and Disco Biscuits New Year's runs are over? Fear not jam band fans, it's only a matter of months before Mountain Jam returns to Hunter Mountain in upstate NY, June 6 - 9, to be specific. This year's lineup features the first ever Mountain Jam appearance from Deer Tick, along with Phil Lesh and Friends, Primus, The Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr, David Wax Museum, Widespread Panic, and of course, Gov't Mule (whose Warren Haynes is one of the festival producers), and others. Pre-sale tickets for the festival are sold out, but early bird tickets go back on sale Saturday (1/19) at 10 AM.

In related news, Warren Haynes' other band, The Allman Brothers are doing ten shows at Beacon Theatre in March and tickets for some of those shows are still available.

Legendary soul crooner Al Green has a growing set of live shows laid out for him throughout 2012. Those now include a NYC show at Beacon Theater on August 22nd with Charles Bradley. Tickets go on sale Friday 3/30 at 9AM and will set you back anywhere from $55 to $135. All dates are listed below.

Joining Al Green at Beacon will be the also awesome Charles Bradley, who will also embark on a tour of his own in April. Bradley's future schedule includes a few stops at festivals like Newport Folk Fest in July and Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY on June 2nd. At Mountain Jam he'll be joined by names like The Roots, Ben Folds Five, James Murphy, Dawes, Givers, Mariachi El Bronx and many more across four stages and over the festival's four days. Full lineup below.

Bradley also has other NYC-area dates coming up including a free show at the World Financial Center in July and ATP in NJ. All dates are listed below....

Mavis Staples is keeping busy. Currently on tour in Australia with the Blind Boys of Alabama (featuring Aaron Neville), she will perform at many festivals and special events betweeen now and the end of July. That includes the Doheny Blues Festival in Dana Point, CA (May 22), Jacksonville Jazz Festival in Jacksonville, FL (May 29), Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY (June 4, one day after she plays with Levon Helm at his Midnight Ramble), Bonnaroo (June 12), Essence Music Festival in New Orleans (July 1), North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam (July 10), Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island (July 30), Lincoln Center Out of Doors in NYC (a free show on July 31st), and many more which are listed, along with a couple of clips from a recent CBS News interview, below...

Morning Teleportation are on the East Coast and currently touring through the dirty south on their way up north and eventually the Midwest. The tour, in support of their recently released Expanding Anyway, hits NYC for a pair of dates: 4/7 at Mercury Lounge (tickets) and 4/8 Brooklyn Bowl (tickets).

If you feel like a road trip, head on up to Mountain Jam on Hunter Mountain in Bethel, NY on the weekend of June 2nd - 5th. There Morning Teleportation will be joined by My Morning Jacket, Dawes, The Avett Brothers, and many others as part of the jam-friendly festival. Tickets are on sale.

Speaking of My Morning Jacket, band will release their new album Circuital on May 31st through ATO Records. In preparation for the release, MMJ have dropped free live MP3s from their multi-day stint at Terminal 5.

Send Your Thoughts & Prayers To Simone Felice

Hello our beloved friends and fans,

We must tell you all, with a heaviness we cannot convey of the news that our dearest brother Simone Felice has been scheduled for emergency open-heart surgery as a result of Aortic Stenosis. The operation will take place tomorrow at Albany Medical Center. We are devastated, yet hopeful that he will pull through. We will not be playing Mountain Jam and all dates for June and July have been cancelled.
He loves you all more than you could ever know, so please send all of your thoughts & prayers Simone's way.
We will keep you informed of his condition in the coming days.

Simone, also an author, left the Felice Brothers to form the The Duke & the King. He is still scheduled to play a solo show at City Winery with Nicole Atkins on August 7th.

The Felice Brothers are currently on tour with Dave Matthews and will be keeping busy playing shows all summer. All dates below...

Clearwater Festival, the annual benefit for the Hudson River environmental group of the same name, will be happening this year at Croton-on-Hudson's Croton Point Park on June 19th & 20th. Pete Seeger, the non-profit's founder, plays every year - joining him this year will be Steve Earle, Rhett Miller, Joan Osborne, Buckwheat Zydeco, Felice Bros and more. More of the initial lineup is below. Tickets to the fest are on sale (and currently almost half the door price). Pictures from last year's day one are HERE and day two are HERE.

A bit farther Upstate in Hunter, NY, the three-day Mountain Jam will be happening June 4th-6th. The lineup for that includes Gov't Mule, Levon Helm & Friends, Drive-By Truckers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, The Avett Brothers, Dr. Dog, Les Claypool, Jay Farrar (of Son Volt), These United States, Justin Townes Earle (note dad, playing above) and Tao Rodriguez-Seeger Band (the same, except grandpa). The full current lineup is below, and tickets are on sale.

Later this summer (in July), Camp Bisco will be in Mariaville, NY.

Gene Ween Band is on the lineup for this year's Mountain Jam, the three-day, jam band-friendly festival taking place in Hunter Mountain on May 29th, 30th and 31st. The Hold Steady, Girl Talk, Rhett Miller, Gomez and many others are also on the bill. You can see the full schedule HERE, and the full lineup below.

Even sooner, Gene Ween Band have a show scheduled right here in Brooklyn at PS 29 (425 Henry Street). The "Benefit for the Arts" takes place on Thursday, May 21st (6:30-9:00 PM), and tickets are on sale (thx Dan). All dates below...

The Old 97s

June is going to be an exciting month for Old 97's fans. "An Evening With Old 97's" will be on tour in June through the eastern States. Both Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond will perform solo acoustic sets before taking the stage with Old 97's. Old97s.com has tickets for many of these shows.
That tour visits Hoboken, NJ venue Maxwell's for four nights - tickets are on general sale for the shows on June 19th, June 20th, June 23rd and June 24th shows. The Old 97's will also play at Westchester's Tarrytown Music Hall (less than 1 hour from Grand Central) on Friday, June 26th. Tickets for that show are on sale, too.

And before those dates, Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller will play (Le) Poisson Rouge on Thursday, April 16th with Starling Crush. Tickets are on sale.

Miller's other Greater NY-area shows might be of interest as well. His May 30th show in Hunter, NY is part of the three-day Mountain Jam Festival. (Tickets are on sale - full lineup below.) And his May 1st show at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ is part of the Writers in the Raw series. Miller appears there with David Johansen (of the New York Dolls), Alec Ounsworth (of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), and Ashton Shepherd. (Tickets are on sale.)

Miller's newest, self-titled solo album will be out June 9th on Shout! Factory Records.

There's another festival with "Jam" in the title happening this weekend.

Mountain Jam is a three day music festival in Upstate New York, held at the world-class ski resort, Hunter Mountain. Radio Woodstock and Warren Haynes will once again co-produce this event during the first weekend after Memorial Day, May 31st thru June 1st, 2008.
The bill includes Dr. Dog, Levon Helm, Bob Weir, Drive-By Truckers, Sharon Jones and O'Death. O'Death are also playing the Silent Barn in Brooklyn on Friday night (May 30). Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings' next NYC show is in Central Park.
