SBTRKT in Sweden in 2011 (more)

SBTRKT, who released one of our favorite albums of 2011, is currently on a long international tour that brings him to North America for the sold out Coachellas and a NYC show earlier in April, happening at Webster Hall on April 3. Tickets for that show are still available, but they might be close to selling out because he just added another NYC show happening one day earlier at Music Hall of Williamsburg (4/2). Tickets for the Brooklyn show go on sale Friday (1/27) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (1/25) at noon. US support TBA.
UPDATE: The billing of the Brooklyn show is now "SBTRKT DJ Set and very special guests."
All dates, Ultra Music Festival and SXSW included, are listed below.
SBTRKT recently released the instrumental track "Atomic Peace," which he first revealed when he played it on a Mary Anne Hobbs Guest Mix in 2009. The track samples Múm's "Flow Not So Fast Old Mountain Radio", which is the reason he had not previously released it. You can stream it below.

Like Broadcast and Atlas Sound, Mum and Sin Fang Bous were on a larger national tour that happened to hit NYC during CMJ. To be specific, the Icelandic groups played Le Poisson Rouge on Saturday night (10/24). More pictures from that show below...

Iceland Music: When did you start recording this album - and who was involved this time around? The Ólöf mentioned is Ólöf Arnalds, who's been busy with her own solo efforts (most recently a show at Prospect Park Bandshell on June 26th). She's still a kind of defacto member of the group, though she isn't on the new record and won't be joining múm as they tour North America in October and November. That tour includes a NYC show on Saturday, October 24th show at (Le) Poisson Rouge. Tickets are on sale.Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason of múm: I guess we started recording last summer, maybe before that. Actually one of the songs we wrote and started recording while doing Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy, we've been playing live for a couple of years. It's pretty much the same group of people as on the last albums. Róbert Reynisson, the son of beast who has been touring with us since Ólöf went on hiatus, plays a big part on this album with his guitar shreds. And who knows when Ólöf comes back? But the only real rookie on this record is Högni Egilsson from Hjaltalín. He toured with us for a bit and brought some fresh winds, arranged the choirs and got lost in an airport.
múm will be supporting the new album referenced above, Sing Along to Songs You Don't Know, which comes out August 24th on Morr Music. Sing Along will be their first record since the band's 2007, Fat Cat released Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy.
Another múm alum (those don't rhyme btw) Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttire (aka Kría Brekkan) just played July 1st at Brooklyn spot Sycamore. It was the last show of a short NYC tour -- hopefully there'll be more on the way.

Aside from the convenience of St. Paul’s being half a block away from FCLC, the church proved to be a wonderful setting for the show. The amazing geometry of the space, combined with the simple yet appealing light display that appeared behind the performers, made for a space that beautifully accompanied the ambient, crescendoing aspects of the music. [Fordham Observer]Mum played a couple of shows in NYC this past weekend - part of the "Wordless Music Series" that will feature a composition written by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead next (and a couple of David Byrne shows), and that Grizzly Bear & Sigur Ros recently took part in. As previously mentioned in an Iceland post and a "Tickets on sale" post, Mum are playing some shows. Mum are also playing the 2007 Iceland Airwaves Festival (October 17 - 21, 2007).
Since the first show held in 1999 (in an airplane hangar), Iceland Airwaves has become one of the premier showcases for new music – Icelandic and otherwise – in the world. It's been called "the most innovative music festival since CMJ" and "as responsible for all of Reykjavík's recent positive press as Björk herself".Best Fwends, !!!, Annuals, Bloc Party, Bonde Do Role, Chromeo, Of Montreal, Ra Ra Riot, and others are also playing. Reyka Vodka is offering the chance to win a trip over there. The latest set of MUM tour dates below....
