"Grimes. The most amazing show. God I will marry you illegally in a heartbeat." - @HannahKuo

Grimes @ MHOW, 10/25/2012

"I took Dramamine before the show and that's why I'm forgetting the words to my songs!" admitted/joked Grimes' Claire Boucher last night on stage. Lyric recollection or not, Grimes packed Music Hall of Williamsburg last night (10/25) for the first of four back-to-back, sold-out NYC shows, and fans (many of whom have adopted Claire's style) were there to dance. With a stage adorned with flora and backed by Myths (who did their own support set as well), Grimes kept everyone moving. Mykki Blanco, who fared pretty well at CMJ too, opened the night.

Tonight, Grimes moves to Bowery Ballroom with openers Elite Gymnastics and just-announced Blood Orange. She'll stay at Bowery for Saturday's show (10/27) then it's back to MHOW for her final NYC show on Sunday (10/28). Different openers each night while in NYC. More pictures from Music Hall of Williamsburg are below.

Grimes & friends @ Metro in Chicago - 10/23/2012

To quote our photographer Chase Turner, "Grimes played a very sold out show at Metro with openers Myths and Elite Gymnastics. Grimes decorated the stage with children's dolls (Pikachu, Teletubbie, Totoro) and had dancers with green/blue hair with dark face paint crawling around the stage bizarrely." Pictures from that show, which happened Tuesday night in Chicago, are in this post.

Grimes is now in NYC for four sold out shows in a row starting tonight (10/25). Each show has different openers, and they look like this:

THURSDAY: Myths, Mykki Blanco
FRIDAY: secret guest, Elite Gymnastics
SATURDAY: Myths, Blue Hawaii
SUNDAY: Elite Gymnastics, Majical Cloudz
The middle two shows are at Bowery Ballroom. The first and last are at Music Hall of Williamsburg.

Blue Hawaii (Raphaelle from Braids) also plays Cameo Friday with Opossom and ARMS. Maybe you caught them during CMJ, or maybe you caught Braids.

Majical Cloudz also had a show at Pianos earlier this week with Popstrangers, and one night before Opossom played there.

I wonder who the unannounced Grimes opener is. More pictures from Chicago below...

Grimes on Pier 84 in August (more by Amanda Hatfield)

Grimes just kicked off kicked off her Mythical Gymnastics Tour last week, which is being supported by Elite Gymnastics and Myths. That show comes to NYC for four shows in October, that have long been sold out: Music Hall of Williamsburg on 10/25 and 10/28 and Bowery Ballroom on 10/26 and 10/27. Elite Gymnastics, who recently went from being a duo to the solo project of James Brooks (the other member Josh Clancy was primarily the visual artist), is remaining on the tour as his new solo version of the project, but he won't be at Grimes MHOW show on 10/25 or her Bowery show on 10/27. On 10/25 it will be transgender rapper Mykki Blanco and on 10/27 it will be Braids side project Blue Hawaii.

If you missed your chance at copping tickets to the NYC shows and don't mind traveling a bit, you can also catch Grimes, Elite Gymnastics, and Myths TONIGHT (9/24) at Basilica Hudson, where Basilica Fest went down in August, and where Godspeed You! Black Emperor played a pre-ATP show on Thursday (9/20). Tickets for tonight's show are still available.

An updated list of dates is below.

Grimes at Lamberts in Austin (more by Tim Griffin)

Grimes just announced two NYC shows -- October 26 at Bowery Ballroom and October 28 at Music Hall of Williamsburg -- of what is likely a full fall tour. Both shows are with Elite Gymnastics and Myths. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, June 15 at noon.

UPDATE: It is a full tour and Elite Gymnastics and Myths are supporting on all dates, hence the appropriately titled "Mythical Gymnastics Tour." All dates are listed below.

You can see Grimes before that, though, when she plays the free River Rocks show with DIIV and Wild Nothing on August 9.
