Croatian Amor in Moscow (image via @suicidalwench)

The Danish ambient/droning electronic band Croatian Amor (basically Loke Rahbek of Lust for Youth, Var, Damien Dubrovnik et. al) is releasing a new album titled The Wild Palms, but you can't buy it with money. In what (I think?) has got to be a first, you can only score the tape-only album, available only from June 22 until July 22, by sending the band a fully frontal nude photo. Here's how the band sent out an email blast:

"The Wild Palms" is only obtainable through trade for a private, fully frontal nude self-portrait. Send a nude to Thewildpalms1989 @ gmail.com together with your address and you will receive the album in the mail. To verify your-self portrait, we ask you to include the text "The Wild Palms" either written on your body or in some way present in your photo.

The Project promises full discretion; only Croatian Amor will see your photo. In return we ask that you keep the recording private as well, the music is for you and is not meant to be shared with anyone, just as your photo will not be shared.

Not sure about how reassuring that last bit is, but if you're willing to do what it takes to hear new Croatian Amor, start snapping and try not to think about where that selfie ends up. The band has an established prurient nature and have featured erotica on album artwork in the past. Croatian Amor were supposed to play Baby's All Right for Northside Fest with Lust For Youth but got taken off the bill at the last moment.

Speaking of accepting nude pics, a blog called My Favorite Rock Group Kiss, where supposedly members of Kiss review indie rock, wants to see you naked, too, at least according to their righthand nav bar. Their most recent review is of Brick Mower, who just premiered a video.

The 2012 music lineup was announced today for Bumbershoot: Seattle's Music & Arts Festival, which is produced by non-profit arts organization One Reel and takes place over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-3, at Seattle Center. The 42-year-old urban festival stands on top nationally in its variety as it showcases both familiar and up-and-coming regional and national talent in many musical genres, as well as in comedy, theater, literary and visual arts, dance, film and children's programming.

Bumbershoot's Mainstage in KeyArena will feature two multi-act performances each day. Artists scheduled to perform there include groundbreaking alternative rock band Jane's Addiction, jazz legend Tony Bennett, electronic phenom Skrillex, a hip hop double bill with Mac Miller and Big Sean, M83, and AWOLNATION among others. Additional Mainstage acts will be announced in coming weeks.

Tickets are all-inclusive. All festival offerings, including Mainstage admission on a first-come, first-served basis (no separate pass required), and late-night electronic music curated by Decibel Festival for Bumbershoot After Dark, are included in the price of a single-day or 3-day ticket
The complete Bumbershoot 2012 lineup below...

Total Control at Fun Fun Fun Fest (more by BBG)
Total Control

Total Control's Henge Beat was a favorite around these parts, and now the band recently released a split 12" with Thee Oh Sees. Check out a video for Total Control's "For Lease" from that split below and order your copy via Castle Face.

Total Control currently have no US dates scheduled. Thee Oh Sees, on the other hand, will spend their summer abroad and have a handful of appearances in the US. The band, who recently played Austin Psych Fest, will play a gang of festival dates including the previously discussed Pitchfork, Outside Lands, Hopscotch, ATP I'll Be Your Mirror and the sold-out Woodsist Festival in Big Sur.

In addition, the band just signed on to be a part of the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle WA, joining names like Neko Case, Major Lazer, Fitz And The Tantrums, Phantogram, The Lumineers, Grimes, Aesop Rock w/ Rob Sonic & DJ Big Wiz, Youth Lagoon, Diplo, Cloud Nothings, The Psychic Paramount, Twin Shadow, Dam-Funk and so many more across six-stages and as many city blocks during three days in July (7/20-7/22). Current lineup is below and tickets are on sale.

All tour dates, the Capitol Hill Block Party lineup and that "For Lease" video is below.

Erykah Badu nakedErykah Badu naked

"Erykah Badu's naked stroll through downtown Dallas, Texas, for a music video has earned her a disorderly conduct citation. The singer shed her clothes as she walked through Dealey Plaza until she was nude and then fell near where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Badu said the video was "shot guerrilla style," without a crew and in one take March 17. A Dallas Police spokeswoman said earlier in the week that they wanted to press charges against Badu because children were present, but no one had called police or filed a complaint that day. Police now have their witness." [CNN]
The witness probably works for her record label. Total punishment: $500 fine. Total free press from having to pay a $500 fine: priceless.

Genesis P-Orridge

"30 Years of Being Cut Up" is a three decade retrospective of photomontage and Expanded Polaroids, which includes many works never exhibited before, as well as a sampling of P-Orridge's early Mail Art. The show will mark the culmination of a new, re-emergent phase in BREYER P-ORRIDGE's life. He/r career -- and most particularly he/r recent pursuit of pandrogyny -- tests the limits of transgression and traces the tragic fate of the underground, proving again the expressive power and pervasive influence of those artists who take the world not as it comes to them -- sensible, orthodox, predictable -- but as they would like it to be.

The exhibit is running now and up through October 18th at Invisible Exports (14A Orchard St). A few more details are below.

P-Orridge will be on the road with Psychic TV this fall, with European dates in September and November. Before that, s/he plays with Thee Majesty on the first night of Santos' Musicka Mystica Festival which runs on September 21st and 22nd.

Back in April, Genesis got back together with he/r old band Throbbing Gristle to play a bunch of shows. That included a major festival and three in NYC - April 16th at Brooklyn Masonic Temple, April 17th at Le Poisson Rouge, April 19th at Coachella, and then again back at the Masonic Temple on April 28th. In light of all the coverage we were giving them at the time, I let our set of pictures from that final show go unposted. I even had something written that included mention of the crazy, voluptous, pierced and topless lady in the balcony who you can see from afar, while she still had her bra on, in one of Lori's pictures that are, now finally, below (you can literally say I saved them for a rainy day).

All upcoming Psychic TV tour dates (with a radio session clip from last year), and more info on the art show, are below too...

Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman

[Wednesday] night after an impossibly drizzling/humid day, Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer performedat Housing Works Bookstore as a part of SPIN's "Liner Notes", an event that combines a musician and an author to discuss creativity. This was the second event of the series, the first being Augusten Burroughs with Tegan (of Tegan & Sara).

The set opened with Gaiman reading a section from he and Palmer's soon-to-be released book Who Killed Amanda Palmer? The piece seemed to be a preface or at least an opening story to the book, a collection of photographs of Amanda Palmer dead with short stories by Gaiman.

After the story, Palmer launched into "Astronaut", the first song off the "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" album, a great choice. [cupcake witch]

Amanda Palmer plays a much bigger and proper music show tonight, June 5th, at Highline Ballroom. Housing Works is having a street fair this weekend. More pictures of Amanda and Neil at Housing Works, including one of what looks to be Amanda holding up a naked picture of herself, below...
