Egyptian-artist Nader Sadek brought his vision of flesh, petroleum, death metal, and tragedy to life with a FREE show at Santos on 11/20. Based on his In The Flesh concept LP, the artist assembled a team of musicians who helped create the LP including Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), Rune Eriksen (Aura Noir, Ava Inferi, ex-Mayhem), Carmen Simões (Ava Inferi) and Novy (ex-Vader / ex-Behemoth). The entire experience, from stage design to the masks worn by some of the musicians to the music, came from the mind of Sadek for this one-time event. Check out some more pictures below...

In a somewhat improbable move, Nader Sadek has assembled some of the key players from his In The Flesh LP for a live show of the entire album at Santos Party House in NYC on November 20th. Enlisting the help of Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Rune Eriksen (Ava Inferi, Aura Noir, ex-Mayhem), Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), Novy (ex-Vader / ex-Behemoth), Sean Frey, and "a surprise female vocalist", the FREE show will more than likely be the only "In The Living Flesh" event, and will feature visual art in addition to the live performance. Expect some fucked up shit...
With stage design that resembles a Wagnerian Opera, Nader Sadek seeks to take the death metal experience to new heights, as he is set to perform the new album "In The Flesh" live in its entirety alongside the production team behind the album. Upon entering the space, The Audience is invited to view all of Sadek's works on and off the stage, each attendee will be given "pamphlet" describing the evenings 3 acts. People can expect more than several props which are recognizable from Sadek's recent videos, such as glowing sulfuric crystals, caves, thrones, and a "elaborate setup for the drums." The show will feature a lengthy overture by a masked surprise female vocalist performing inside a mirrored cube, guitarists enveloped by a web of vines and more. Part Opera, Part Art installation. And All Metal. Conceptually, the theme behind the album, will manifest itself in the live setting, petroleum, man's greatest discovery and tragedy will embrace the composition of the visual and aural assault. This is a minimal description of what is to ensue on stage during the live slaughter of IN THE LIVING FLESH, which will finally bring Sadek's concept behind his new album to life. The performance will also be filmed live.Nader Sadek will also be meeting and greeting fans at Forbidden Planet (840 Broadway) on 11/17 at 7:30.
Check out some Nader Sadek videos with more info below, including "Nigredo in Necromance" which made its debut at BrooklynVegan more than a year ago, for an idea of what you're up against.

Nader Sadek at Mayhem (more by Paul Birman)

Ever since the Mayhem show at Irving Plaza earlier this year, I've wondered about the shadowy costume figure that set up Atilla's stump/podium and mounted heads on spears before they took the stage. Turns out it was performance artist, and Mayhem stage designer, Nader Sadek, who will perform his new piece at Santos Party House on Saturday (11/21).
B'doun Wag'h (Faceless), provocatively incorporates Arabic design, Death Metal music, and Darfur activism. Musicians from the well-known metal bands Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, Krallice, and Behold... the Arctopus played a specially commissioned composition on a stage featuring Middle Eastern elements that ambiguously resonate with the occult iconography of this underground music scene. Woodwork screens and geometric patterns that frame blistering guitars and frenetic drumming blur configurations of private and public, holy and profane, ritual restraint and impulsive aggression. [from Nader's bio]Tickets for the all ages B'doun Wag'h show are still available. Look for Sadek to be joined by Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), and Mike Lerner (Behold..The Arctopus).
Speaking of Morbid Angel, the much revered death metal band recently signed with Season of Mist.
Shining also recently announced their signing to Season of Mist, and will hit US shores in the new year with Behomoth and Septicflesh. That tour impacts Gramercy on 1/30/10. Get presale tickets here now, or wait until noon to get tickets here.
Full US Tour dates for that Behemoth/Shining/Septicflesh trek, as well as a few Nader Sadek videos and the flyer for the show are below.
