The New York portion of EDM festival Electric Daisy Carnival happens this weekend at NYC-area venue MetLife Stadium (5/24 & 5/25) with many of the usual EDM big players but some more interesting stuff too like AraabMuzik, Rudimental, Skream and more. In what also seems like a pretty interesting move, Williamsburg hot spot Output will be hosting two afterparties and a pre-party that are taking an old school approach, including many veterans of NYC's '90s rave and club scene.
The first night (5/23) includes Swedish techno vet Adam Beyer joined by three NYC vets: Francois K who got his start in the '90s at Paradise Garage and Studio 54 and currently runs the Deep Space party, Frankie Bones who helped bring rave culture to the US, and Lenny Dee, another of NYC's earliest DJs and a past collaborator of Frankie Bones. I don't know often they still play together, but in the early 90s, hardcore techno fans saw a lot of LD & FB. Tickets are on sale now.
Then the next night (5/24) has John Digweed, once famous for his DJ nights at Twilo with Sasha in the '90s, Alex Graham, another regular at Twilo parties, Canadian duo Art Department (aka legendary techno/house vet Kenny Glasgow and newer-comer Jonny White), and Nicolas Matar, founder of NYC dance club Cielo (home of Francois K's Deep Space parties). (Tickets.)
Then on the last night (5/25) it's less NYC-centric with Berlin's Tale of Us (aka Karm & Matteo Milleri) and Ireland's Chymera. (Tickets.)

The Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival is just around the corner, with a kickoff show tonight (11/7) and then starting in full this weekend, and the set times for the festival have just been released. Head HERE to check out the full, interactive schedule, where you can make your own personal schedule and also share it with others. You'll notice a couple things were switched too, like Pete Tong's show moving from 285 Kent to Music Hall of Williamsburg and Actress in turn moving from MHOW to 285.
Tonight's kickoff show starts at 10 PM at Output with Skream, MK, Oneman, and more. The rest of the festival continues from Friday (11/8) to Sunday (11/10) across multiple Brooklyn venues with sets from Evian Christ, Lunice, Actress, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kastle, xxxy and many more.
There's also been a few lineup changes: Todd Terje had to drop off due to a family emergency, and Letherette and Andre Bratten can no longer make it due to visa issues.
As discussed, the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival is returning to Brooklyn venues Music Hall of Williamsburg, Glasslands, 285 Kent, Cameo, Villain, and Output from November 8-10 with sets from Evian Christ, Todd Terje, Lunice, Kastle, Skream, xxxy, and many more. Since we last spoke, there's been a few additions like Oneohtrix Point Never (who also plays MoMA PS1 soon) and Actress. Daily room lineups have also been announced and individual tickets are available for each show, including the pre-party on Thursday, 11/7. 3-Day passes are also still available.

We were just talking about a new dance club that will be known for its soundsystem opening in Williamsburg (and the "new Brooklyn electronic underground"), but let's take a second to acknowledge a NYC club with similar specs that has been going strong for a decade. Cielo (18 Little West 12th Street) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in existence with events all month. They also were just named "Best Sound System in North America" by Beatport.
With two down and eight celebratory nights still to go, the party continues tonight (1/18) with Wolf + Lamb vs Soul Clap which is sold out; and moves on to tomorrow (1/19) with Tania Vulcano, Willie Graff, and + Filsonik before finally polishing off the weekend with Horse Meat Disco on Sunday (1/20). Another weekend of events follows, leading up to the finale with Todd Terje & Danny Krivit on 1/31. Tickets to all those shows (apart from tonight's) are still available.
Congrats to Cielo! Full listing of 10th Anniversary events are below.
