DOWNLOAD: Hervé - "Gold" (feat. Maria Minerva) (MP3)
Lo-fi pop artist Maria Minerva teamed up with LA dance four-piece Pharaohs for the track, "Miraculous Feet," off Pharaohs' debut full length, Replicant Moods, which is due out on April 20 via 100% Silk. Maria takes lead vocals which gives the track an overall feel more similar to her music than Pharaohs', but Pharaohs' Chic-style bassline and post-punk drums make the song beefier and dancier than most of Maria's work. You can stream that track below.
As mentioned, Maria Minerva and Pharaohs are teaming up for a NYC show this Saturday (3/2) at 285 Kent with Octo Octa and Magic Touch (8 PM doors, $10 admission), but Pharaohs will be landing in NYC even sooner to play Cameo on Thursday (2/28) with Jonas Reinhardt, SHAMS, and a DJ set from Suzanne Kraft. Advance tickets for the Cameo show are on sale now. Both Maria Minerva and Pharaohs will also be in Austin this March for SXSW.
Maria Minerva also has a new release of her own on the way; the Bless EP, which will be out on April 2 via Not Not Fun. The EP's first single, "Black Magick," continues in the vein of her Will Happiness Find Me? album, and you can watch the video for that track below. Maria will play a release show for that EP in NYC on April 18 at Cameo Gallery with Butterclock (more on her in a minute). Tickets for that show are on sale now.
In addition to her own EP and collaborating with Pharaohs, Maria also contributed vocals to "Gold," the new single off UK producer Hervé (aka Joshua Harvey)'s new album, The Art of Disappearing, which comes out on March 4 via Cheap Thrills. Maria's airy vocals and Hervé's downtempo rhythms work great together and you can hear the collaboration by downloading the track above or watching its video, below. That album also features a killer collaboration with Austra (who are playing BrooklynVegan SXSW shows) on the track "Save Me," which you can stream below as well. Other collaborators on the album are Niki & the Dove and Seasfire.
As mentioned above, support at Maria Minerva's EP release from comes from oOoOO collaborator Butterclock (aka Laura Clock), who released her debut EP, First Prom, earlier this month. A limited CD pressing of the EP is available at the Fantasy Music webstore. Butterclock also has some European shows coming up, which are listed below, and more US dates will be announced soon. The video for "Don't" off her EP is below.
All dates are listed, along with all mentioned song streams and videos, below...

"Twin Shadow just brought the house down at Music Hall of Williamsburg!" - @marcellobutron
Twin Shadow @ MHOW
Twin Shadow and Niki and the Dove ended their tour in NYC with two shows last week, including Webster Hall on Thursday (9/27) and then the more intimate Music Hall of Williamsburg the next night (9/28). Both shows were sold out and last night was especially packed with the whole crowd going nuts for Twin Shadow. He split his set pretty evenly between his two full lengths (2010's Forget and this year's Confess) and ended with straightforward but awesomely done cover of Queen & David Bowie's "Under Pressure." A video of that cover is below. After the show, Twin Shadow headed a few streets over to DJ the afterparty at Brooklyn Bowl.
Twin Shadow main man George Lewis Jr. joined Niki and the Dove on stage during their opening set for a song too. Niki and the Dove will take a short break now that the tour is over, after which they'll head out again supporting Miike Snow. That tour hits the NYC area for shows at United Palace (10/19) and Wellmont Theatre (10/23).
More pictures, video, and the setlist from last night's show are below.

Twin Shadow at Webster Hall, 9/27/2012
Twin Shadow played Webster Hall last night (9/27) with Niki & the Dove, his first of two sold-out NYC shows this week. Decked out in a leather motorcycle jacked (keeping with the theme of his record), George Lewis Jr had the crowd's attention the whole set, convincing many to take off their shirts for one song, and jumping into the crowd to play guitar for another. Pictures from the show are in this post.
Twin Shadow plays the more intimate Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight (9/28), again with Niki and the Dove, and will DJ the shows' afterparty at Brooklyn Bowl later tonight which is free with your MHOW ticket. (There will also be tickets at the door.) Meanwhile, former Twin Shadow bassist Russ is playing with his new band, Rush Midnight, down the street at Cameo with Splash. Rush Midnight are on at 9:30 and tickets for that show are still available.
Twin Shadow in Austin earlier this month (more by Tim Griffin)
Twin Shadow and Niki and the Dove have been on the road together for a few weeks now, and their sold out two-night run in NYC begins tonight (9/27) at Webster Hall and continues Friday (9/28) at the smaller Music Hall of Williamsburg. As mentioned, you can also catch Twin Shadow DJing the official after party on Friday at Brooklyn Bowl. Entry is free with your ticket stub from the Music Hall of Williamsburg show, and otherwise $8 tickets are still available.
You'll also have another chance to catch Niki and the Dove in the NYC area when their tour supporting Miike Snow hits United Palace (10/19) and Wellmont Theatre (10/23). Tickets for United Palace and Wellmont Theatre are still available.
If you're going to Twin Shadow's shows this week, you won't be seeing bassist Russ Manning. As mentioned, Russ has left the band to focus on his solo project Rush Midnight. He's releasing his debut EP, +1, on October 30 via Cascine. The EP was produced by Twin Shadow main man George Lewis Jr. and features guest vocals on a track by Doe Paoro, who Russ has remixed in the past. You can watch the video for EP single, "The Night Was Young Enough," below.
Rush MIdnight has a few upcoming shows including one in Brooklyn this Friday (9/28) at Cameo Gallery with Splash and Rarechild (tickets) and the Ghostly/Cascine CMJ showcase at Le Baron on October 17. After that, he'll kick off a short tour in November which begins in NYC at The Studio at Webster Hall on November 9. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
A list of all Rush Midnight dates and that video are below.
Dum Dum Girls at MHOW in February (more by Amanda Hatfield)

As discussed, the band will play a release party for the EP in NYC at Europa on September 30 with Starred and Chez Deep. Tickets for that show are still available. They'll stick around after that show and play a free in-store at Other Music (10/1, 8 PM) the next day.
Other Music will also host a free in-store for Niki & the Dove on September 26, also 8 PM, the day before their tour with Twin Shadow comes to NYC for a sold out two-night run.

Twin Shadow at Webster Hall in 2011 (more by VIncent Cornelli)
Twin Shadow and Niki and the Dove kicked off a tour together earlier this week, and as previously discussed, it comes to NYC on September 27 at Webster Hall and September 28 at Music Hall of Williamsburg (both shows are sold out). If you wanna keep the party going after the MHOW show, head to the official after party a few streets over at Brooklyn Bowl (9/28) where Twin Shadow will be Djing later that night. Twin Shadow at Webster Hall in 2011 (more by Chris La Putt)
As mentioned, Twin Shadow released his sophomore LP, Confess, earlier this year and has been touring in support of it. In September he'll begin a new leg of the tour with support from Sweden's Niki and the Dove which hits NYC on September 27 at Webster Hall. That show has since sold out but the two bands have just added a smaller NYC show that happens one day later (9/28) at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for that show go on sale Thursday (8/23) at noon.
Niki and the Dove released their debut LP, Instinct, earlier this month via Sub Pop. A full stream of that album, a full stream of Twin Shadow's Confess, and an updated list of dates are below.
Niki & the Dove's show during the Northside Festival this week -- the Popgun showcase on Thursday (6/14) at Glasslands -- is sold out (badgeholders can still get in based on capacity) but you've got another chance to see the Swedish duo. They'll play Tribeca Grand on Friday (6/15). The show is free but you should RSVP to email@example.com if you wanna go, though that probably won't guarantee entry. Late show, doors at 10PM. After that your next chance to see them live will be when they open for Twin Shadow at Webster Hall on September 27. (Tickets are still available.) Updated tour dates are listed below.
Additionally, Niki & the Dove are performing live on internet show YouTube Presents today (6/13) at 4PM EST. And you can listen to them live on KEXP tomorrow at noon EST. Niki & the Dove's Instinct is out on vinyl and CD in August on Sub Pop, but AAC lovers can get it via iTunes right now.
While on the subject of Sub Pop recording artists, we'll note that Niki's labelmates Mogwai are also in town playing on Thursday (6/14) and Friday (6/15) at Webster Hall with Balam Acab and tickets to both shows are still available.
Twin Shadow at BAM earlier this month (more by David Andrako)
As mentioned, Twin Shadow will release his sophomore LP, Confess, on July 10 via 4AD. You've heard the first single, "Five Seconds," and now Twin Shadow has just revealed that he'll give the video for that song a pretty interesting premiere. It's going to premiere in NYC on a Jumbotron in Times Square on June 18 and will be followed by a live Twin Shadow performance directly after.
According to a press release, the event is part of Art Takes Times Square, a program presented by Artists Wanted, Chashama, and Times Square Alliance, "to present artists from around the world in brilliant lights on a massive scale in one of the most iconic locations in the world."
Twin Shadow will also be supporting his new album on a tour which includes the previously discussed NYC show at Webster Hall on September 27. Since we first mentioned that tour, Swedish indie poppers Niki and the Dove were added as openers to a portion of it, including the Webster Hall show. Tickets for that show are still available.
You can catch Niki and the Dove, whose debut LP, Instinct is due out on August 7 via Sub Pop, in NYC even sooner when they play the previously mentioned Popgun Northside party at Glasslands on June 14 with Selebrities and Beacon. Tickets for that show are still available.

Charli XCX @ Knitting Factory
Pre-SXSW festivities are underway in NYC and three of the buzziest bands here from Europe shared a bill at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn Saturday night (3/10). Those three bands were the Sub Pop-signed Niki & the Dove (from Stockholm), London's Charli XCX (who plays again at Santos Monday night and at the
Pitchfork showcase at SXSW), and England's Clock Opera (who also plays again at Santos Monday night). NYC's Ghost Beach opened the show, and like the rest, are headed to Texas this week. Here are some pictures from the Brooklyn show. More below...

Niki & the Dove
Stockholm's Niki & the Dove (aka Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf), who released The Drummer EP and "The Fox" single last year and made BBC's 'Sound of 2012' list, recently announced a short US tour which will take place this March and hit NYC on March 10 at Knitting Factory. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
The band just released the video for "The Fox," which you can watch below alongside a widget to download the track. There's definitely some Bjork coming through in Malin's vocals, and she's backed by thick, dancefloor-ready pop with synthetic brass, clap snares, and exploding choruses.
Charli XCX recently played an MTV show in London with The Maccabees, which Lana Del Rey was also scheduled to play, but cancelled like she did with SXSW after her SNL performance and an interview with Vogue where she said she might never record an album again. Like Lana Del Rey, Charli XCX seems groomed for mainstream pop-ularity and was one of the many singers Balam Acab remixed last year. Charli's other dates include a March tour of Europe with Sleigh Bells (who are the musical guest on SNL next weekend).
