Iceland's Ólafur Arnalds (again, not to be confused with Olof Arnalds) was last here in April, playing a trio of NYC shows to celebrate the release of his new album, For Now I Am Winter, which takes a classical composer view of pop. One of those shows was at Le Poisson Rouge with orchestration courtesy the LPR Ensemble. NPR filmed that show and you can watch the whole thing below.
Ólafur Arnalds is coming back to America this summer for a short tour that will bring him to select cities. That includes another NYC show: Glasslands on July 16 with opener Vio/Miré. Tickets to that show are on sale now. All tour dates are listed below.

Ólafur Arnalds (not Olof)

There's a lot of similar/confusing band names out there, but the most confusing may be Ólafur Arnalds and Olof Arnalds, both of whom are from Iceland. Olof is a female folk singer who we've covered a lot (her new album came out in Feburary). Ólafur is a male composer and singer. His new album, For Now I Am Winter, came out last week and blends classical and pop. You can stream the whole thing below via Spotify and check out a video too.
Ólafur Arnalds will be in NYC next week for a show at Le Poisson Rouge on April 18 with orchestration from the LPR Ensemble. Tickets to that show are still available. While in the city, Ólafur has a couple other events planed. He'll appear at the Apple Store Soho on April 16 for their "Meet the Composer" series where he'll talk about the album and play a few songs. 8 PM and free.
Ólafur will do another free performance in-store at J&R Music World on April 19 at noon. These are the only North American dates he has currently, but all international dates are listed below.
