Once and Future Band prep new EP (listen to "Destroy Me") playing "Castlemania" UK shows w/ Oh Sees & more

Oakland, CA’s Once and Future Band make music that sounds like its been transported from 1977, along with a deep shag rug. Thick funk mingles with orchestral outer space soft rock for the perfect soundtrack to your next fondue party. Needless to say they are not your typical band on Castle Face, the label co-owned by Oh Sees main man John Dwyer. Having released their debut LP last year, Castle Face releases their new Brain EP on March 9. We’ve got the premiere of the dreamy, proggy “Destroy Me” and you can listen to that below.

Once and Future Band are one of a few Castle Face bands who are playing UK shows together under the “Castlemania” banner. Also on the bill: Kelley Stoltz, Flat Worms, Male Gaze and Oh Sees as headliners. Says Matt from Castle Face, “Cooked up by John Dwyer in a blinking cavern full of synthesisers and fan-cooled amps, this playlist is the creme de la creme of the Castle Face artists trekking to England to participate in the first Castlemania – two handsomely venued shows starring Oh Sees, Once and Future Band, Kelley Stoltz, Flat Worms, and Male Gaze. Perhaps this ‘mania will spread to other locations in the future too.”

The Castlemania shows happen at Manchester’s The Albert Hall on March 1 and London’s The Troxy on March 2. John Dwyer put together a Castlemania playlist featuring songs from all five bands and you can listen to that below as well.

Those Castlemania shows are part of Once and Future Band’s larger UK tour, and they’ve got North American shows later in March (nothing in NYC though). All dates are listed below.
