Regina Spektor released her new album, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats, earlier this year and is continuing to tour in support of it. She's already played three NYC area shows this year so far, and she'll be back for two more. Regina plays Port Chester's Capitol Theater on October 3 and Beacon Theater on October 24. Advance tickets are not on sale yet.
The tour will be supported by Only Son (the project of ex-Moldy Peaches member Jack Dishel) who also opened Regina's United Palce show back in May, and whose album she guested on, singing a duet on the song "Call Them Brothers." The video for that song and a list of all dates below...

Regina Spektor's upcoming LP, What We Saw From the Cheap Seats, has been given a release date (May 29) and album artwork (pictured above). You've already heard the lead single, "All the Rowboats". Today that song got a video (which you can watch below), and she recently revealed another track from the album, "Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)," which you can stream
As mentioned, she'll be touring this spring and hitting the NYC area on April 10 at Wellmont Theatre. That show is sold out, but she's since added a few more Northeast shows after her run with Tom Petty including a NYC show happening on May 15 at United Palace Theatre with Only Son (aka ex-Moldy Peaches member Jack Dishel), whose album Regina guested on. Tickets for the United Palace show are on AmEx presale now and go on sale to the general public on Monday (4/2) at 11 AM.

Norah Jones at LPR w/ Doveman in 2011 (more by Vincent Cornelli)
Stones Fest 2012, a tribute to the Rolling Stones similar to Petty Fest and Dylan Fest, is going down on February 22 at Webster Hall. Billed as "A Night To Get Drunk And Celebrate The Music Of The Rolling Stones," the fest will feature appearances by most of the same people who usually play these events, Norah Jones, Adam Green, Jesse Malin, Nicole Atkins, Jason Sudeikis (of SNL), Jessie Baylin, Tad Kubler (of The Hold Steady), The Sheepdogs, Jon Herrington (of Steely Dan), Jody Porter (of Fountains of Wayne, Sammy James Jr. (of the Mooney Suzuki), Jack Dishel (of Only Son), Todd Youth, Alec Higins (of Alberta Cross), Danny Clinch and the Tangiers Blues Band, Steve Schiltz (of Hurricane Bells/Longwave), Justin Long, Antony Ellis (of 5 O'Clock Heros), Jason Roberts, Petter Ericson Stakee, The Uptown Horns, and many more surprise guests. The show happens about three weeks before a different Stones tribute happening on March 13 at Carnegie Hall with The Mountain Goats, Glen Hansard, TV on the Radio, and others. Tickets for that show are still on sale.
Speaking of Norah Jones, she's set to release her Danger Mouse-produced LP, Little Broken Hearts, sometime this year and follow it with a tour. Norah Jones and Danger Mouse previously collaborated on 2011's Rome. Check out an acoustic performance of the song "Black" from that album below (via Rolling Stone).

Ex-Moldy Peaches member Jack Dishel aka Only Son released Searchlight on January 18th. The new album features contributions from members of The Strokes, Robbers On High Street and Of Montreal, and includes a duet with his friend and past tour-mate Regina Spektor called "Call Them Brothers." You can download "Magic" from that album above, and check out the video for the same song, and the video for "It's A Boy" below. If you download the album at his Bandcamp, you get a bonus track for free: "Kick 'Em Out" featuring "sweet tropical harmonies" of Little Joy's Fabrizio Moretti and Binki Shapiro.
I honestly have no idea, but based on everything I wrote above (and Regina Spektor's past guest appearances at Only Son shows), I wouldn't be surprised if special guests were in the house when Only Son performs the new album in full tonight (1/20) at the Studio at Webster Hall. The Candles and (as previously mentioned) Yellowbirds (Sam from Apollo Sunshine) are opening.

Kimya Dawson will be in Brooklyn August 17th for an intimate show at The Pyramids (32D South 1st St), a space also known as South 1st Studios and formerly known as Glasshouse. Also on the bill are No One and the Somebodies, TURBOSLEAZE, Pablo Das and Only Son. The show is at 7pm, all ages, no advance tickets ($10), and the space fits about 200. It's part of a short tour for Kimya that includes a house show in Baltimore and a gig in Philly.
Also at the Pyramids is a show a few days earlier on August 12th with Eternal Summers, Reading Rainbow (who have shows with Dum Dum Girls and Crocodiles coming up), Rescue Bird, German Measles and Family Trees (who have a 7" out for the song above, with a video below). That show is $8.
Tour dates and videos are below...
The Bundles are fronted by the anti-folk dream-team of Jeffrey Lewis and Kimya Dawson, and include drummer Anders Griffen, Jack Lewis (Jeff's brother and band-mate) and K Recs' Karl Blau. Their debut self-titled record came out on K Records in April.
Also on the Cake Shop bill are the controversially-named Sidewalk Cafe staples Ching Chong Song and Only Son (ex-Moldy Peaches guitarist Jack Dishel), as well as a mysterious "Secret Guest". Who could that be? Well, two members of the Moldy Peaches are listed on the bill already, Kimya headlining would sort of be a bigger deal than her new band, Moldy Peach Adam Green is sort of big (he just did two nights at Bowery), so my guesses are:
1) Moldy Peaches (seems unlikely though right?)My last guess, Regina Spektor, also got her start at places like Sidewalk Cafe and has toured with Only Son more than once. I have no idea really. What do you think?... UPDATE:
2) Kimya Dawson (but why be secret when you're already on the bill?)
3) Adam Green (bigger, but does he need to be a secret?)
4) Beck (just kidding)
5) Regina Spektor
hey guys, andy cakeshop here...just so theres no confusion, its not adam green.. i was throwing the idea around with his management, but it was really just an idea. the bills really strong on its own, and i should really take off the 'secret guest' thing, its been a weird week and sorry it got to this level. jeff and kimya need to play at 8 to make it to a prior commitment...anyway we're working on something cool for the 11pm, but as of yet, truthfully, its not booked! sorry for the mixup &"SECRET GUEST!" has now in fact been replaced with "TBA". It was fun while it lasted.
The Bundles tour the UK and Europe later in May. Those dates and videos are below...

Nickel Eye. Nikolai.
About nickel eye: Soon to be released The Time of the Assassins... For the moment, you can visit Mark Ronson's most recent radio broadcast (06/06/08) of "Authentic Shit" at www.eastvillageradio.com. At 1hr and 19mins, you will find a sneak preview of two songs and an interview with nickel eye.
And while Albert and Nickel Eye are busy doing their thing, Julian has been wearing Converse and hanging with Pharrell (soon to be a daddy?) and Santogold. I don't know what's up with The Strokes, but if there is something up, Pharrell also wants to be involved.
And while Nick Zinner has been keeping busy with Nickel Eye, Karen O has been also doing her Native Korean Rock thing which included two shows the other night at Union Pool and some demos on MySpace. Yeah.

Only Son & Regina Spektor @ Sound Fix, Brooklyn, NY - Apr 19, 2008 (slicknick1986)
People started lining up outside Sound Fix at 7am for Regina Spektor's free 1pm show in honor of Record Store Day on Saturday. Unfortunately though, Sound Fix (a record store with attached bar and performance space) is still having problems - a lot of them....
...According to Bradley, the Dept. of Health, the Dept. of Buildings, and the Police Dept. have all issued violations on the business, many of them requiring court appearances. "It's been really overwhelming," says Bradley. The record store owner believes the violations are rooted in complaints from a couple of neighbors who live in an adjacent building, one of whom, Teresa Polonski, works for Assemblyman Joseph Lentol. "I'm sympathetic to noise complaints, and we've done a lot to try to mitigate the noise," says Bradley. "All this seems to be really excessive to me." The Dept. of Health shut down the Sound Fix Lounge after serving it with three violations for operating without a food license; the first violation was issued March 6th, the second on March 8th, and the third on March 28th. "On 3/28 the establishment was swarmed by inspectors and shut down. I was advised by DOH that this was actually a Mayor's task force," says Mikelle V. Komor of Wagner Davis P.C., one of the attorneys working for Sound Fix... [Brownstoner]
