As mentioned before Lace Curtain is a new project from extremely prolific Australian Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Ooga Boogas) that also features James Vinciguerra (Total Control) and David West (Total Control, Rat Columns). While both Total Control and Ooga Boogas dabble in electronics, Lace Curtain are full-bore in diode mode.
The band's debut EP, out now on vinyl and next week (3/5) digitally, explores a variety of electronic landscapes and would make a good soundtrack to a dystopian sci-fi film or, in the case of "Good Intentions," someone's nightmare breakup or withdrawl. (In a good way, of course.) We've got the premiere of that track right here and you can stream it below.
Don't forget Mikey and James will be in NYC with the great Total Control in May.

We've known for sometime that Australian punk favorites UV Race were headed back to our shores for Chaos in Tejas, but now comes word that the appearance is just one of many for the band. Kicking off in LA in early May, look for UV Race to head Eastbound for a string of dates with also-Chaos-ers Total Control (which most of UV Race are members of). Unfortunately, Total Control will not join them at their NYC stop at Death by Audio on May 21 . Total Control join the tour for the May 24 Philadelphia show and then have three days off until their next show (in DC) so fingers crossed they'll make time for an NYC show as well. Full tour dates as they stand are below.
As mentioned, Mikey Young of Total Control (and Eddy Current Suppression Ring) recently released a new album with his other other band, Ooga Boogas, that is a must-listen if you like TC, UV Race and ECSR.
Meanwhile, UV Race dropped a film/soundtrack combo called Autonomy and Deliberation along with the Racism LP last year. Dig on the trailer below.
Ooga Boogas (feat. Mikey of Eddy Current / Total Control) released second album (stream some tracks)

Trying to keep up with Eddy Current Suppression Ring-related bands can be a fulltime job. Also a fulfilling one, as most of them have been pretty terrific. The most recent is the just-released, self-titled second album from Ooga Boogas which features Mikey Young from ECSR members of other Melbourne, AU bands like The Onyas and The Sailors. Like his one of his other excelent bands, Total Control, the band genre hop a bit, from Fall-influenced indie rock to Stranglers-y new wave to the vaguely Talking Heads-ish groovers. (Also "Studio of My Mind" is the best LCD Soundsystem they never wrote.) If you're waiting for a new Total Control or ECSR record, don't hestitate to pick this one up, it's solid start to finish. You can stream three tracks from the album below.
No word on Ooga Booga North American shows, but Young will be bringing Total Control over from Australia for Chaos in Tejas (May 29 - June 2) so lets hope they make time for NYC while they're here.
