Pretty & Nice 8:00 - 8:30 pm
The Coathangers 8:45- 9:15pm

Downstairs room:

Oxford Collapse: 11:30-12am
The Ruby Suns: 12:15am-12:45am

Three labels, one small CMJ show.

Sub Pop has Death Vessel, Oxford Collapse and The Ruby Suns.

Pretty & Nice and Dutchess and the Duke represent Sub Pop's sister label Hardly Art who now represents six artists in total including Le Loup who are opening for Stereolab at Irving Plaza on October 4th.

sBACH (member of Hella), Cotton Jones (ex-Page France) and The Coathangers (friends with the Black Lips) are reppin' Suicide Squeeze. The Coathangers signing was announced September 4th. Cotton Jones was announced in August.

Sub Pop usually does a sell-out show at the larger Bowery Ballroom, so they're definitely taking it easy this year. Merge's is small too.

Check out the Pianos flyer below...

Crocodile Cafe

"I think it's a blow to the scene," said David Meinert, a local promoter and publicist. "Part of the side effect of the mayor's downtown development plan, which seems to have no room for live music in it. The Croc is an institution. At the same time, things change, and keeping a venue open as long as the Croc has been, through all the changes the music scene has been through, is a very difficult job. I feel for any club owner trying to make it in Seattle."

Local musician Chris Martin, a guitarist in local rock band Kinski, called the Crocodile Café "the most exciting club to play in town." [The Seattle Times] (thx Renee)

David Bazan played the last show. Nirvana played there. Beth Ditto fell there.

The DecemberistsAccording to the schedule that is still posted on the club's website "Bobby Bare Jr. and the Decemberists" were supposed to play there on January 26th - which, according to the Tractor Tavern where the show will now take place, is actually Bobby "with members" of the Decemberists. The Decemberists have played with Bobby before, and they're (all of them) scheduled to play Seattle twice just four days later - two of four West Coast shows they have scheduled. It will be the first time they play since cancelling a whole tour due to illness.

Also on the Croc schedule: Atlas Sound, Black Mountain, A Place to Bury Strangers, Tilly & The Wall, Beach House, and Born Ruffians. All Decemberists & Bobby Bare dates below...

Andrew DostWhether Andrew Dost is still a member of Anathallo is not totally clear. Wikipedia has him as a "former member", but an update posted to Anathallo's MySpace page on August 17th doesn't make it seem like he's going anywhere - except out on the road as a solo musician for a bit.

One of those solo shows happens to be tonight (Sept 10) at Union Hall in Brooklyn, and also on that bill is The Cotton Jones Basket Ride - a Page France side-project featuring frontman Michael Nau, Whitney DeGraw (vocalist / keys), and Chris Morris on drums.

Anathallo will be back in NYC for CMJ. Will that be with Andrew Dost? I don't know. A whole bunch of tour dates are below....
