Midnight @ Acheron
The hooded Venom-worshipping trio known as Midnight played Acheron on 4/7, inciting pits and setting leather jackets on fire as part of their incendiary live show. The Cleveland band were joined by sleaze-metal favorites Villains (who played with Bone Awl the night before) as well as Richmond's Parasytic and NYC's own Trenchgrinder. Here are some pictures video from the show.
In other news, Villains will join beer-metal band Superchrist on April 23rd when the band hits Saint Vitus. Tickets are on sale. Superchrist, who recently played a show in Chicago (check out the pics), is welcoming their new LP Holy Shit this May via Hell's Headbangers and you can stream the new song "Take Me To The Graveyard", along with the pics, below....
Art for Bone Awl's Meaningless Meaning Less
I'm proud to announce that BV & Order of the Serpent will present a rare show celebrating the tenth anniversary (!) of primitive black metal fiends Bone Awl at Saint Vitus on April 6th. The band will team with NYC sleazoids Villains and reverb-y gods of black metal Negative Plane. Tickets are on sale for this event.
Bone Awl's last release was a split with Ashdautas (of the Black Twilight Circle, who recently played NYC) which hit via Crepusculo Negro late last year. The show is their only current show scheduled so far.
The Saint Vitus show is the day before Villains play Acheron with Midnight, Parasytic and Trenchgrinder (on April 7th).
Villains at Europa (more by BBG)
Brooklyn street metal sleaze-oids Villains dropped Road to Ruin on the venerable Nuclear War Now last year, and now the band has unveiled a video for the album closer "Land Hag". Check that out below.
A reminder: Villains will support a mammoth lineup of Midnight (who released one of my favorite LPs of 2011), Parasytic, and Trenchgrinder at Acheron on April 7th. The band will also support Superchrist at Saint Vitus on 4/23, and ticketing info for that show is forthcoming.

Midnight at Rites of Darkness (more by BBG)
Midnight will headline a killer bill at Acheron in Brooklyn on April 7th featuring an appearance from crusty thrash team Parasytic, over-the-top sleazoids Villains, and crust-death killers Trenchgrinder. The show is the band's only current US date, with a second show going down in Germany as part of Heavy Metal Mayhem. Don't miss it. Stream some Parasytic and Trenchgrinder material below, and download their demo for free at Bandcamp.
Stream that Trenchgrinder and Parasytic's recent LP Poison Minds below, alongside the flyer.
Dixie Dave of Weedeater at Europa (more by BBG)
BrooklynVegan is proud to present the inaugural US tour of Hail! Hornet, the Southern supergroup consisting of "Dixie" Dave Collins (Weedeater, Buzzov*en), Erik Larson (Alabama Thunderpussy, Parasytic), Vince Burke (Beaten Back to Pure) and T-roy Medlin (Sourvein, Buzzov*en). The quartet recently released their second LP Disperse The Curse via Relapse and you can stream it in its entirety below.
In addition, the tour will feature TWO other notable appearances: Zoroaster (who play NYC next week with Black Cobra) and a screening of the excellent Slow Southern Steel which was directed by CT of Rwake (and which made its East Coast debut in August). Full tour dates are below, including Europa in Brooklyn on 2/8. Tickets for that show are $15/17 DOS and will be on sale soon.

While I was watching a man beat another with a pizza box, Boston hardcore band Brain Killer played a pair of shows as part of a memorial in honor of Nick Poot, the first of which hit Tommy's Tavern on Jan 15th with Nomad, Earthpig, State of Decline & Longpigs (some pics are over at show booker Undead's site). The second show, where the photos in this post orginate from, took place over this weekend (Jan 22nd) at 538 Johnson with Parasytic, Perdition, and Nomos. Jason House reports:
It was really intense, especially when it came time for Brain Killer. There was PA trouble right before Parasytic was set to start, and it was switched out for one that obviously wasn't able to handle it. It did the trick, but the last 2 sets essentially sounded like they were being screamed through a CB radio. By the end, nearly everyone in the room was singing along so it didn't really much matter anyway. I never had a chance to meet Nick or see him play, but judging by energy in that room, he will be sorely missed.R.I.P. Nick. More photos from #201 at 538 Johnson are below.

The crowd goes wild for Mob 47 @ Europa
Mob 47 and Parasytic played Europa on Wednesday (11/10) as part of a string of dates for the pair and part of a larger East Coast tour for Mob 47. The nutty Crazy Spirit and Nomad both also played the Brooklyn show. Pictures are in this post.
If you missed the show, unfortunately your window to catch Parasytic, Crazy Spirit, and Nomad has closed. But luckily, as mentioned yesterday, Mob 47 will play 538 Johnson TONIGHT (11/13) as part of a bill that will include all of the bands at ABC No Rio today at 3PM (Punch, Loma Prieta, Vaccine, & Death First) in addition to Passive Aggressor.
The 538 Johnson show flyer, some videos and more pictures from Europa, below...
Mob 47 are one of the most widely known and loved Swedish hardcore bands. Their sound was remarkable because they combined a strong Discharge influence with the speed of the fastest US hardcore bands, such as DRI and Gang Green. Unlike Gang Green or Neos, for example, Mob 47 were never sloppy; the result is some of the most brutal hardcore ever created, faster and rawer than nearly anything before or since. -[Shit-Fi]Mob 47's influence extends much further than just the hardcore/crust community. Reformed in 2005, now the band is poised to play their first NYC show (!) at Knitting Factory on November 11th with Parasytic, Crazy Spirit, Nomad, and Mutant Supremacy. Tickets are on sale. The show is less than two weeks before Parasytic plays another incredible gig at Knit time with A.G.E. and Hellshock on 10/30.
In other news, the previously discussed Venomous Concept show at Europa just got nuttier with the addition of the great Nails, who will support the grind supergroup alongside Strong Intention. Tickets are on sale. Nails released their Unsilent Death LP earlier this year and Obscene Humanity 12" last year via Six Feet Under. Pick up a copy, and while you're there, pre-order your copy of the new Rival Mob 7", Hardcore For Hardcore. Stream tracks by Rival Mob and Nails at the Six Feet Under site.
Nails will perform at This is Hardcore alongside another notable band who is on their way back to NYC, Starkweather. Along for the ride at The Acheron on 8/28 will be Raw Radar War (with Jonah Jenkins of Only Living Witness), The Communion, and Panzerbastard. Starkweather's new LP This Sheltering Night is out now via Deathwish, it comes highly recommended.
On August 1st, Gray Ghost will play The Acheron alongside Tournament, Unreal City, and Ominous Order of Filthy Mongrels. Gray Ghost released their awesome Deep In The Shallow End in hard forms via Chainsaw Safety last year (download a copy), and has the new Succubus 7" out now via Chainsaw Safety/A389 Records (digital/vinyl respectively).
And last but not least, Innumerable Forms has a killer 7" out now on Painkiller Records, Dark Worship. The band, which features Justin Detore of Mind Eraser (and session player on Funebrarum), is old school death metal at it's brutal finest and the band will wreck The Acheron on July 29th when they play with Naughty Girls.
