Hope everyone had a great Record Store Day yesterday. As always, many of the previously unreleased tracks that came out yesterday have wound up on the internet. Check out streams of MGMT's new single, "Alien Days," Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' Push the Sky Away b-side, "Animal X," Chelsea Wolfe's "Fight Like Gods" from her split with King Dude, Nicolas Jaar's remix of Grizzly Bear's "Sleeping Ute," and the video for Garbage and Screaming Females' Patti Smith cover below.
As mentioned, Pharrell was promising something "extra special" for his House of Vans show on Friday (4/19), and though Daft Punk didn't show up, he did play his new collaborative single with the duo, "Get Lucky." Three times. Check out a video of that below (via CoS).
What else?

As you know, Daft Punk just dropped their new single, "Get Lucky," which features Pharrell and Nile Rodgers. If you've somehow managed to not hear the song yet, you can stream it below.
Meanwhile, Pharrell will be in NYC TONIGHT (4/19) at House of Vans for a free (but "sold out") show at the venue. Talking to VIBE about the show, Pharrell said:
"The concert is going to be electric. I'm going to give the crowd something they're never going to forget. There is this song that we just dropped, so you may see something extra special."Hmmm.
We heard Daft Punk were in California for Coachella last weekend, but we're not positive of their whereabouts right now. Who knows, maybe we'll Get Lucky?

Details on the new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories, have been slowing rolling out. After teasing it with a number of ads and interview videos, and finally revealing the tracklist, Daft Punk have released the first single from the album, "Get Lucky." It features Nile Rodgers and some soulful vocals from Pharrell over disco-y rhythms reminiscent of the Homework/Discovery days. You can download it on iTunes and check out a stream of the track below...

Miguel on 'SNL' / Daft Punk w/ Pharrell & Nile Rogers

Another new SNL, another new Daft Punk commercial. This one -- a slightly shorter version of the one shown to Coachella audiences -- gives us the first substantial taste of Random Access Memories' "Get Lucky," that's been teased in previous ads, and features both Pharrel Williams and and some chic guitarwork from Nile Rodgers, not to mention the men/robots themselves. This is, we assume, a snippet of the "Get Lucky" video? You can watch it below.
Meanwhile, Daft Punk have released the third in their "Collaborators" series of promotional videos with the folks who worked on Random Access Memories. This one is with Nile Rodgers who very humbly talks about his contribution to dance music over the years and you can watch that below too.
Meanwhile, on the actual show (4/13), Miguel performed his Grammy-winning hit "Adorn" and then a rocked-out version of "How Many Drinks," with that magnetism (that we saw at our BV CMJ day party last year) on full display. The next new SNL is May 4 with Of Monsters and Men performing, while Zach Galifianakis hosts. Miguel videos from last night are below.

Daft Punk are making a comeback this year with Random Access Memories (due out 5/21 via Columbia imprint Daft Life Limited), their first album since 2005's Human After All. They haven't revealed any full tracks from it yet, but from those two 15 second clips, we basically already know that we love it. Unfortunately, we New Yorkers never get a chance to see them. All they seem to do these days is pop up at Phoenix shows (but not last Friday's show), and then that secret show at 285 Kent turned out to be an April Fool's joke. Who knew?!
Luckily, we will get a chance to see the eight piece Daft Punk Tribute Band, imported from Toronto, who play NYC on July 3 at Highline Ballroom. What's more, we even know what time they go on (10 PM). Reportledly, these guys "have been melting faces and liquifying dancefloors with sold out shows at the most prestigious clubs and concert halls across Canada" since 2009. We can't wait to get our faces melted, Canadian style, in NYC. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
In terms of the real Daft Punk, the rumored tracklist of their new album features appearances by Julian Casablanacas, Giorgio Moroder, Pharrell, DJ Falcon, Todd "The God" Edwards (who sang on Discovery), and Paul Jackson Jr. (who played guitar for Michael Jackson), in addition to previously announced guests, Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, and Panda Bear.
Like Giorgio Moroder just did, Todd Edwards also discussed the new album in a video interview, which you can watch, along with a live video and check out the full rumored collaborators list, below.
Pharrell at Afro-Punk 2012 (more by Gretchen Robinette)

Renaissance man, MC, producer and, most recently, journalist (sort of) Pharrell will play a free show at House of Vans on April 19. RSVP is free and open to the public.
The Neptunes/NERD member was recently featured on Tyler, the Creator's new album and is expected to make an appearance on Earl Sweatshirt's forthcoming effort too.
Meanwhile, Pharrell interviewed Henry Rollins for a recent installment of web series ARTST TLK and you can watch that below.

We're all used to seeing Vancouver DJ and Evaporators frontman, Narduwar, interviewing oodles of bands and bringing a suitcase full of props to wow them. Following an interview with Pharrell Williams, the hip hop producer officially turned the tables and interviewed the Human Serviette in a familiar heavily-gifted style. (Nardwuar first blew Pharrell's mind with his research skills in 2008.) Both took place during SXSW 2013 and you can watch them below.

Not to turn into Perez Hilton or anything, but the same day we get the news that Justin Timberlake, another pop star who actually puts out great music, is releasing new material, Beyonce announced on facebook that Destiny's Child have recorded their first original song in eight years and Pharrell produced it. The song will appear on Love Songs, the upcoming Destiny's Child compilation which is due out on January 29 via Sony Legacy and can be pre-ordered now. The tracklist is below.
In related news, Beyonce, who is about to perform at the Super Bowl on February 3, but not until after she sings the National Anthem at President Obama's inauguration ceremony on January 21, said in an interview with GQ that she'll have her new album out "as early as April" and will go on a world tour in support of it. The album may or may not include her rumored sequel to her collaboration with Lady Gaga, "Telephone." (And that song may or may not also feature Azealia Banks.)
The album will follow 2011's 4, much of which saw Beyonce stripping back her sound and pulling more from '70s soul than contemporary R&B, but it also contained "Countdown," which is up there as one of Beyonce's greatest pop singles, and just one of the greatest pop singles of recent years in general.
The video for "Countdown" and the video for Destiny's Child's "Survivor" below...
Santigold at MHOW in January (more by Bao Nguyen)

Santigold, who recently released her new album, Master of My Make-Believe, and is currently touring in support of it, is stopping in NYC TONIGHT (5/14) at Irving Plaza for a free Samsung Mobile USA-sponsored show. RSVP is closed but we're giving away a pair of tickets. Details on how to enter to win are below.
If you can't make it to the show, you'll be able to stream the entire thing live at the Samsung Mobile USA facebook. The show will feature special guest appearances from Pharrell Williams and SNL's Andy Samberg, who wrote the Lonely Island song "After Party" which Santigold sings on. Doors for tonight's show open at 7 and the show starts at 8.
In related news, Santigold is one of the many contributors to the new Amadou and Mariam album, Folila, which came out last month. She co-wrote and sings on the album's opening track, "Dougou Badia." You can stream that track below. Amadou and Mariam return to Central Park Summerstage this summer.
Santigold will also play Governors Ball next month.
Song stream and contest details below...
The Cool Kids & giant fish man @ LP listening party (via Green Label Sound

Alternative hip hop duo The Cool Kids (aka Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks) released their first official full length album When Fish Ride Bicycles yesterday (7/12) on Mountain Dew's Green Label Sound. Chiddy Bang at Highline Ballroom (more by Nathaniel Shannon)

Chiddy Bang will hit the road in a big way in support of their upcoming LP The Swelly Life, due on Sept 14th. Look for them to hit Highline Ballroom on August 24th with Donnis, XV, and 2AM Club (tickets). The Swelly Life, which features appearances from Pharrell Williams and Q-Tip, is the Philadelphia duo's debut and follow up to their Opposite of Adults EP which featured the MGMT-sampling track of the same name (get it? Opposite of Adults?). The "Opposite of Adults" video is below.
Following a string of US dates, Chiddy Bang will put territories down under on smash alongside an incredible line up of Memory Tapes, Missy Elliot, Holy Ghost, Delorean, Soulwax, Midnight Juggernauts, and many others as part of Parklife, a multi-city dance music festival in Australia. Festival flyer is below.
All Chiddy Bang dates and some videos, including the new one for "Dream Chasin", below...

Ronson, Merriweather & Wale

Allido Records, named after one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs, is the label co-owned by Mr. EVR aka potential Lohan In-Law Mark Ronson (sorry for getting all Perez-y). Mark Ronson will rep Allido when he appears as house DJ during the Allido CMJ showcase at SOB's on Oct 21st. Tickets are on sale.
The Allido Showcase will be headlined by Wale (pronounced wah-lay), who has appeared in NYC with Ronson before, and who recently hopped on a new remix of M.I.A.'s "Boyz" that some say is better than the Jay-Z remix that was released at the same time. Both are available for download above... you be the judge. Wale doesn't have an actual album to his name yet (he's a mixtape dude), but look for his debut to drop in Spring 2009 and feature Travis Barker (recently released from an LA burn center), Mark Ronson (no doy), 9th Wonder, Just Blaze, and Pharrell.
On January 25, 2008, Wale and Mark Ronson, on Ronson's East Village Radio show, hinted that Wale was in the process of signing with Jimmy Iovine at Interscope Records and On March 12, he announced on 93.9 WKYS that he had signed with Interscope. [Wikipedia]Speaking of 9th, also keep a look out for a Wale/9th Wonder collabo mixtape called Back To The Feature "up next", according to a recent interview in Giant Magazine. For now though, dig on "The Mixtape About Nothing" available for download at his blog.
Rhymefest of I-co-wrote-Kanye-West's-"Jesus Walks"-fame will also be in the (SOB's) house (check out the free Jacko-themed mixtape from earlier this year available above), as well as The Rumble Strips and Daniel Merriweather (not to be confused with Dan The Automator aka Nathaniel Merriweather of Handsome Boy Modeling School fame). Daniel was also at that Webster Hall show Ronson played in October last year.
In other semi-related news, Perez Hilton is announcing his full CMJ lineup on Monday, Pharell and M.I.A. recently got together, Jay-Z inspired a bunch of kids to search out Daptone's Menehan Street Band, and the BrooklynVegan CMJ showcase, happening the same night as Ronson's, is getting close to being sold out. Also that night: The Cool Kids & The Carps.

Nickel Eye. Nikolai.About nickel eye: Soon to be released The Time of the Assassins... For the moment, you can visit Mark Ronson's most recent radio broadcast (06/06/08) of "Authentic Shit" at www.eastvillageradio.com. At 1hr and 19mins, you will find a sneak preview of two songs and an interview with nickel eye.
Regina Spektor is also working with Ben Folds and playing a show with another Stroke, Albert Hammond Jr., who has some new music out of his own.
And while Albert and Nickel Eye are busy doing their thing, Julian has been wearing Converse and hanging with Pharrell (soon to be a daddy?) and Santogold. I don't know what's up with The Strokes, but if there is something up, Pharrell also wants to be involved.
And while Nick Zinner has been keeping busy with Nickel Eye, Karen O has been also doing her Native Korean Rock thing which included two shows the other night at Union Pool and some demos on MySpace. Yeah.
Download a whole bunch of MP3s above. The Karen O live tracks were ripped from two of the three YouTube videos you can watch below...

N.E.R.D. @ M.S.G., N.Y.C. - May 13, 2008 (malusbrutus)

N.E.R.D.'s new album Seeing Sounds will be out June 10, 2008. "Everyone Nose" is the first single. You can download the MP3 above. The video was (at least partially) shot here at Gypsy Tea in NYC in April, and it features a bunch of cameos including Lindsay Lohan and Kanye West (who N.E.R.D. played with last night at Madison Square Garden).
