Times New VikingTimes New Viking

As previously mentioned, Times New Viking are playing a show with the Vivian Girls at Bowery Ballroom on May 11th (tix). Ends up, they're also playing a show in Brooklyn at Market Hotel one day earlier (more details TBA).

Last month TNV played a show at the Wexner Center in their home-stage of Ohio. What makes that interesting is that they played almost all Velvet Underground covers...

their set consisted completely of Velvet Underground songs, in honor of the Andy Warhol "Other Voices, Other Rooms" exhibit, which finished its run at the Wexner Center this past weekend. TNV are joined by C. Spencer Yeh on violin and Mike Hummel on guitar and vocals.
Also in February, Pitchfork TV debuted a series of videos that had TNV playing each track off their new EP Stay Awake (pictured above)...
A>D>D, Pitchfork.tv's brand new analog-to-digital video series, features some of our favorite new artists performing live through an anachronistic haze of lo-fi audio tape hiss and VHS tracking.
Ponytail's laundromat performance was part of that series. TNV videos, and all tour dates below...

Ponytail

Ponytail, currently touring Europe, will be playing a bunch of shows at SXSW in Austin this year. After that no proper tour has been announced yet, but they do have a scheduled show in Philadelphia in March, one in Spain for the Primavera Sound Festival in May, and an April 25th show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for the Brooklyn show are on sale at noon.

Pitchfork.TV recently recorded Ponytail playing in a Queens Laundromat..

Live entertainment is provided by Baltimore spazz-rockers Ponytail, who rip through characteristically energetic versions of "Late for School" and "7 Souls" (both from Ice Cream Spiritual) while surrounded by spinning dryers. We've seen people behaving like the band's mighty vocalist Molly Siegel in a laundromat before, but they're usually just there to keep warm, and more often than not they wind up being wrestled to the ground and forcibly ejected by New York's finest. That's rock'n'roll for you.
Those videos and all tour dates below...
