As mentioned this past January, Williamsburg got a new, 452-capacity dance club, Output at 74 Wythe Ave by N. 12th St. We weren't sure exactly what types of "techno, house and other EDM styles" would be booked at the venue, but we're happy to report that they've already got some great shows coming up, as part of their weekly Thursday party, INPUT.
Tonight (2/28), Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is DJing the venue with Rory Phillips and Nick Hook. Tickets for tonight's show are available.
We already mentioned that Shlohmo's tour with D33J hits the venue on March 7, but that show is even better than we knew then, because Rustie, Jackmaster, and Oneman are on it too. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
Then on March 14, Maxxi Soundsystem will play with Compuphonic, Plastic Plates, and Let's Play House's Jacques Renault (tickets). Meanwhile, there's a Let's Play House party happening this Friday (3/1) at Le Bain with DFA Records DJ Shit Robot and Eug.
The Night Slugs crew is hitting the venue on March 21 for a great show which features Bok Bok, Kingdom, L-Vis 1990, Girl Unit, Mike Q, Rizzla, and a live set from Teengirl Fantasy collaborator Kelela. Tickets for that one are on sale now.

Over the summer, tropical pop Aussies Van She released Idea of Happiness, the followup to their 2008 debut, V, via Modular. You can watch the video for that album's single, "Jamaica," and stream the entire album via a spotify widget below.
Along with Cut Copy and The Presets, Van She have been one of the leaders of bright, bouncy synth pop over in their home country since the latter part of the last decade (The Presets are touring North America now.) This week the band comes over to play a NYC show at Tammany Hall on Saturday (10/13) with Plastic Plates. The first presale for that show sold out but a second presale is happening now. The flyer for this show is below.
Before that, they'll DJ a party in NYC on Thursday (10/11) at DL (95 Delancey at Ludlow) with Luke Jenner of The Rapture (also DJing) and Sean Glass & Alex English. That show is free with RSVP and there will be 2-for-1 drinks from 10 PM to 11 PM. The flier for this show is below.
Before leaving the US, Van She will head to California for two shows after the NYC shows. A list of all tour dates, both show flyers, that video and spotify stream are below.

"The Snow Ball Music Festival [in 2011] was chill, in more ways than one. Besides the expected below freezing temperatures Avon gets in early March, the atmosphere of the festival and attitude of the attendees were very relaxed. The tents were set up on snow instead of concrete, and so dancing the first night was no small fete as everyone was slipping on the ice. By the end of the weekend, any movement at all was unpleasant as people were standing in puddles of water, beer, and probably some bodily fluids or stuck to the ground in thick mud. The crowd left their clubbing attire at home and sported their neon ski coats instead as they drifted through the clouds of cigarette and marijuana smoke. Despite the cold weather and the impossible dance floor, most importantly, the music was good." [cause=time]The SnowBall Music Festival, for people not afraid to watch bands playing outside in freezing temperatures ("We recommend that you come prepared for snow and winter conditions. Temperatures are expected to be in the low 40° range during the day and in the teens at night. Please dress accordingly."), is returning to Vail Valley in Avon, CO from March 2 - 4, 2012. This year's lineup includes Big Boi, Big Freedia, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. (who just announced a Bowery Ballroom show), Deer Tick, Gauntlet Hair, Major Lazer, TV on the Radio, Thundercat, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and others (listed below)
Early bird and holiday special passes are sold out but regular passes and tickets for the festival are on sale now. Don't forget your "Warm Jackets, hats, gloves, and snow boots."
