As discussed, Gainesville's The Fest is returning this year from October 31 to November 3, and they've just expanded their lineup to include more artists. Additions includes post-hardcore/screamo giants Circle Takes The Square, who have been reunited for a bit but still only rarely play US shows; Geoff Rickly's United Nations, who are also back, but have not been as active as Geoff's solo project; punk vets ALL; Titus Andronicus (who have multiple NYC-area appearances coming up); Fake Problems and more.
Those recent additions join previously announced names like Torche, White Lung, Bouncing Souls, Ceremony, Braid, Paint It Black, Samiam, Knapsack (reunion), The Draft (reunion), The Menzingers, The Lawrence Arms, Hop Along, Code Orange Kids, Creative Adult, Pity Sex, Mean Jeans, Retox, Lemuria, Greys, Tenement, Tim Barry, Toys That Kill, The Night Marchers and more. Tickets for The Fest are on sale now.
Circle Takes The Square returned in December, 2012 with Decompositions Volume Number One, their first album of new material since reuniting and second overall. It's not the instant masterpiece that their 2004 debut, As the Roots Undo, is, but it's still damn good. Download it in its entirety at bandcamp (name your price) or stream it in its entirety, along with the updated The Fest lineup, below.
Merchandise at Mouse Trap in Chicago last month (more by Jimmy Forabi)
Merchandise's Children of Desire has been on heavy rotation since the LP dropped a few months ago via Katorga Works (download it for free). When not on the road, the band has been busy releasing tons of videos from the effort, including the recently released "Time." That video, along with some streams and more videos from the album are available below.
The only East Coast dates that Merchandise have scheduled at the moment are a few in their native Florida. One of those shows is the impeccably curated 305 Fest featuring names like Bastard Noise, Iron Lung, Dropdead (who played Europa recently), Torche, Floor, Mauser, Full of Hell, Black Mayonnaise, Fistula, and so many more. Full lineup is below and tickets for the fest are on sale.
All Merchandise dates, videos, streams, and the 305 Fest lineup is below...
Members of Torche and Asshole Parade converge to form Post Teens, a five piece punk crew welcoming their new The Heat EP on June 5th via No Idea. Clocking in at a short-but-sweet six minutes over as many songs, Post Teens mine the snotty melodic punk territory occupied by current favorites like The Spits and recently seen on the latest Toys That Kill record. Stream the title track for the first time below. The new EP is the follow-up to last-year's debut 7" which hit via Sound Study Recordings and features "Fucked Up Perception", available in video form below.
Post Teens are on the road in late May with the great Mauser, playing a string fo dates on their way toward Chaos in Tejas on June 2nd, where they'll team up with Dopamines, Joyce Manor (who recently played NYC), Shoppers, Wiccans and Creem (who have a new 12" due via Deranged) for a whopper of a show at Scoot Inn.
All tour dates, those Post Teens streams, and a full album stream of the new Creem LP are below.
