Twin Sister @ MFNW 2011 (more by Autumn Andel)

Twin Sister will release a limited edition 12" remix album of material off of their debut LP In Heaven on January 30. You've already heard Balam Acab's remix of "Kimmi in a Rice Field". It will be backed by a Lindstrom & Prins Thomas remix of "Bad Street," which you can stream below. The 12" is available for pre-order at the Domino webstore.

Twin Sister will have the 12" available on their 2012 tour with Ava Luna, which doesn't come to NYC, but both of those bands play the BV Holiday Party at Bowery Ballroom (12/17) with Widowspeak. Tickets for that show are still on sale and only $8.

Speaking of the 12/17 Bowery show, we're happy to announce some DJ additions to the bill. As soon as doors open and until Ava Luna go on, music will be provided by a mysterious team known as Invisible Glowstix. After that, between bands and until the last person leaves the club, the tunes will be coming courtesy of the slightly more well known Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. who will put down their guitars and mics for the night in favor of laptops and turntables. The Detroit band are also playing (live) shows in Philly and Boston while they're in the area.

Twin Sister recently recorded a live session for The Alternate Side, which aired today (12/9). You can watch the archived session below. They also recently recorded a live in-studio version of "Stop" at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco for Yours Truly. The video of that performance is below too.

Speaking of Balam Acab remixes, he recently remixed Charli XCX's single "Nuclear Seasons," which came out in November. You can stream his remix and watch the video for the original below. The original is available for free download in exchange for your email address at Charli XCX's website and you can download the Balam Acab remix by liking her facebook page.

Electric Zoo (more by Zach Dilgard)

While from the outside, Electric Zoo (Sept 5-6, 2009) might seem like a 2-day hell, overrun by fake-tanned, heavily hair-gelled masses and their female counterparts, the actual experience (at least for me) was far from it. While my jaw dropped in horror as many of the element described above boarded the ferry to Randall's Island at the 35th Street pier, and I was only further freaked out when the entire boat broke out in a sing-along to "Now That the Love Is Gone" by David Guetta (one of many deejays playing the festival), once I arrived the dread of dealing that all day, subsided.

For starters, the festival grounds were very accommodating size-wise for the number in attendance. When I first arrived around 12:30 on Saturday, there was ample room and even as the day wore on and the grounds filled up, I never felt that I was trudging through a crowd to get where I wanted to go. Along with the size of the venue, the diverse spread of deejays (who were grouped at four different tents/stages vaguely according to similar genre/sound), kept my interaction with club-goers whom I would rarely run into under normal circumstances, to a minimum. In the instances where I was confronted with people straight out of My New Haircut (NSFW!) I couldn't say a bad thing about them. Everyone at the festival seemed to be too happy to be there, and dancing their asses off, to care what was going on around them, or to do anything too outwardly annoying to ruin anyone's time.

Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair @ Studio B (more by Ryan Muir)

Hercules and Love Affair (aka Andy Butler) is releasing a new DJ mix called Sidetracked... July 21st on Renaissance Recordings. Butler will be making DJ appearances throughout the summer, mainly in Europe. One U.S. gig will be at the July 3rd Firecracker party at the Hammerstein Ballroom (tonight). Also at the event, as mentioned by Showtrotta, will be Steve Lawler, Tiefschwarz, Victor Calderone, Damian Lazarus (live) and Audiofly. Tickets are still on sale.

Butler will be at Lollapalooza on August 8th, and he'll be making an appearance at NY's Electric Zoo Electronic Music Festival, taking place September 5th and 6th on Randall's Island. Other acts at the fest include Special Disco Version (featuring LCD Soundsystem/DFA's James Murphy & Pat Mahoney), Felix Martin & Al Doyle (of Hot Chip), Lindstrom, Frankie Knuckles, Prins Thomas, and many, many more. Another electronic music suaree, the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, is on the way as well, happening August 8th at the Old American Can Factory. The fest's headliners will be Juan MacLean (live) and RJD2; full lineup is still on the way. Tickets are currently on sale.

Moderat @ MHOW (poejarker)

Last week in dance was by far, one of the best I've had this year. Things were off to a rocky start Friday night when APT's last minute closing left Disco 3000 temporarily homeless, before it was moved to Le Poisson Rouge. Unfortunately word didn't seem to get out fast enough, leaving very few disco revelers on LPR's dancefloor. Fortunately Disco 3000 will be back in just a few weeks (June 19) and Trus'me will be back deejaying here next weekend for what seems to be a dance party meets circus, And Everyone Laughed.

Back to last weekend...after a fairly tame Friday night, Saturday night was very busy. I started my evening by heading to Music Hall of Williamsburg to see Moderat. From there the plan was to head to Mr. Saturday Night (which was thankfully at a loft not too far away) to see Pilooski.

Unfortunately things did not go exactly as planned. Moderat were supposed to go on at 1. Modeselektor's shows usually clock in around an hour so I figured Moderat's would be similar and I might be a little late for Pilooski (who I heard was going on at 2). Moderat's show was about an hour...but it didn't start until 1:50! I had made the decision to attempt to go to both, fully aware that this might happen so I just crossed my fingers that Mr. Saturday Night was running behind and tried to enjoy Moderat.
