Plenty of great metal, hardcore and other heavy shows in NYC are getting announced all the time. We don't get a chance to write about all of them, so here's a roundup of some recently-announced stuff coming up:
California old school-style death metallers Gravehill are playing shows in support of last year's Death Curse, including NYC on August 12 at the Acheron. It's a good lineup all around with their Dark Descent labelmates Ghoulgotha and Horrendous, plus Brooklyn locals Mutant Supremacy. Tickets are on sale. Stream Death Curse below.
Long-running death/thrashers Deceased are still active and will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a NYC show on November 14 at Saint VItus. Opening that show will be Bat, Iron Force and Grey Skies Fallen. Tickets are on sale now.
Crust supergroup Severed Head of State (with members of World Burns To Death, Tragedy, J Church and more) come to NYC on July 30 at the Acheron with Razorheads and Indignation. Tickets are on sale.
Local black metal faves Krallice appear to be hinting at a new album on their Facebook. While details on that aren't confirmed, a live show for July 27 at the Acheron is. Radiation Blackbody and Feast of the Epiphany open. Tickets are on sale.
The doom and gloom of Planning for Burial returns to the stage on July 24 at Grand Victory with Iron Gag and Prostitution. Tickets are on sale.
Mexican black metal veterans Xibalba Itzaes (previously known as Xibalba, but changed to Xibalba Itzaes in 2010 to avoid confusion with the California hardcore band Xibalba) have been at it since the early '90s and will play their first-ever NYC show on Halloween at the Acheron. Opening is Fantom Warrior and Occult Burial. Tickets for what sounds like a pretty spooky Halloween are on sale now.
Die Choking are a new-ish Philly grindcore band with members of Total Fucking Destruction and Cop Problem. They debuted last year with two EPs, titled I and II, and you can stream both in all their brutal rapid-fast glory below. They're coming to NYC for a show on July 29 at Saint Vitus with Blänk, Sangharsha, Ides and Hounds. Tickets are on sale.
Sangharsha also play a Nepal benefit a bit sooner at Acheron on July 15 with Tiger Flowers, Skullshitter and Brute Mukti (tickets).
Boston black metal/punk blenders Human Bodies will descend upon NYC on July 21 at Acheron with One Master, Syphilitic Lust and Salo (tickets). Earlier this year, they put out the MMXIII-MMXIV, which compiles last year's No Life with 2013's MMXIII demo and includes two previously unreleased tracks. It's raw, eerie, and surprisingly kinda catchy. Stream it in full below.
Anthrax's Scott Ian is spending a lot of time at Saint VItus this year. His band Motor Sister played there in February, and now he's set to return for spoken word shows on August 4 and 6. Tickets for both are available. Scott's also taking part in the NYC performance of The Doomstar Requiem, the metal opera (or "Klok-Opera") from the Metalocalypse/Dethklok guy, Brendon Small. Tickets are available for that too.
Tucson sludge band Godhunter are making their way to NYC for a show on August 13 at Saint Vitus with Destroyer of Light and Immortal Bird. Tickets are on sale now. They released their debut album, City of Dust, last year. You can stream that below.

Wreck & Reference
In related news, Pelican debuted a new song from their upcoming LP, Forever Becoming, over at Noisey today. Stream it below.
Though Lycus dropped all of their East Coast dates, last night's Primitive Man show at Saint Vitus (July 29) was still a bit of a whopper. The doom/black metal/d-beat/death metal hybrid played a riveting set to a modest crowd, but those that did stick around after sets by Reproacher, Radiation Blackbody and Belus were treated to an impressive showing. Pictures from Saint Vitus last night and a stream of songs from Primitive Man's Scorn, are in this post, and check out more photos and a full review at Invisible Oranges.

Caustic noise-rock crew Child Abuse will headline Saint Vitus on Tuesday (2/12) alongside Radiation Blackbody (ex-Defeatist), Oneirongen (ex-Disembodied) and Procatrocist (featuring Mick Barr, Eston Browne, Joe Merolla, Weasel Walter). Tickets are still available.
Speaking of Oneirogen, the solo noise/ambient artist is releasing his new LP, Kiasma, via Denovali in the US on March 26. Stream songs from that release below and order yours at the label.

Vile Gash at Chaos in Tejas 2011 (more by Fred Pessaro // BBG)
Who doesn't love an afternoon of killer punk and hardcore? Negative hardcore brutality from Vile Gash will headline a matinee, with Society Nurse, Slices (who released their Still Cruising earlier this year) and Believer/Law at Acheron on January 19. Show is at 5PM and ticketing info is on the way. The show is part of a larger set of dates for the final three bands on the bill, with NYC's Believer /Law also set to play WIERD soon.
Check out live video and audio below.
Misery Index at Europa (more by Samantha Marble)
Due to a series of unfortunate events, we're not doing any shows on any shockwave/Fear Factory/Voivod etc. tour. It's cancelled. Sorry for the confusion, we are extremely upset about this and sorry to any fans who bought tix. [Misery Index]To say that the Shockwave tour, which featured Misery Index with Voivod, Cattle Decapitation, Fear Factory and more, was an unmitigated disaster is probably an understatement. All dates were cancelled in the wake of cancellations by Voivod and Fear Factory (the tour did not have a planned stop in NYC).
That said, Misery Index is picking up the pieces and scheduling dates on the East Coast in the wake of this, crossing paths with a burgeoning tour from Baltimore grind greats Triac and Amputee for a show at Saint Vitus on August 16th. Tickets are on sale for the show that will also feature Radiation Black Body and Strong Intention.
All Misery Index dates and some video is below.
Drugs of Faith @ Death By Audio
Drugs of Faith headlined Death By Audio on March 3rd, joined by a stellar support cast of the grind-duo Radiation Blackbody, noise-hardcore hybrid Livver, and progressive death-metal crew Pyrrhon. DOF's primary focus was their latest LP Corroded, a personal favorite from last year, with the band dipping into earlier material including their contributions to This Comp Kills Fascists, Vol. 2. You can take a look at the full setlist, and more pictures and video from the show, below.
Pictures and video from DbA, below...
You may recognize the name Drugs of Faith via the bountiful accolades they received for their Corroded record from last year. Or maybe you know the DC-area band via their connection to the mighty Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Either way, the band will showcase their own cocktail of furious and nihilistic hardcore with precision blasting at Death By Audio on 3/3. Look for Drugs of Faith to team with dizzying jazzy-grind combo Radiation Blackbody (ex Defeatist/Anodyne), hardcore noise-metal crew Livver (ex-Defcon 4), and death metal weirdos Pyrrhon (who also has an upcoming date with Hate Eternal). $8 gets you in.
Drugs of Faith recently reported that they're working on new material a vinyl version of Corroded. Stay tuned for more info.

After a set in Pomona at Scion Rock Fest 2011, Fuck The Facts headed east for a short tour that ended at Cake Shop on Saturday. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the Canadian band's material they showcased at the Manhattan show was spread across all of their output, touching on burners like "The Sound of Your Smashed Head" from Sigmata Hi-Five, to "Wake" from the band's latest Unnamed EP.
Psychic Limb directly supported FTF, and in speaking with the band following their set I found that the band played all of a forthcoming LP (!) in order. PL hopes to have the new LP up and out by their appearance supporting Unbroken at a sold-out Santos. We'll keep you up to date.
Radiation Blackbody is 2/3 (Josh/Joel) of Defeatist, and their uber-complex hardcore-meets-tech was fascinating and offered a good counterpoint to the late 90s post-hardcore stylings of Swords of Chaos from Iceland who were also on the bill. Josh of Radiation Blackbody/Defeatist is also the bassist for Castevet, who will play the BrooklynVegan/ProfoundLore show at Lovejoys in Austin on 3/19 followed by the Profound Lore official showcase at Valhalla later that night.

Fuck The Facts at Cake Shop (more by BBG)
Fuck The Facts will return to Cake Shop on March 12th as part of a special round of new dates:
We've put together a special set for these shows that will have us playing songs from every album since 2001's 'Mullet Fever' all the way to new music from our upcoming 'Die Miserable' album, and all in chronological order from oldest to newest. Many of these songs we haven't played live in years and most likely won't after this, so we hope you'll enjoy this little blast into the past.Expect the nasty little canucks to fuck shit up at Cake Shop. Can't wait for Die Miserable.
Supporting the incredible FTF will be the always unfucwitable hard-grinders Psychic Limb, Radiation Blackbody (Joel/Josh of Defeatist), and Icelandic hardcore/screamo Swords of Chaos (mems of Jonsi's band, seriously).
Fuck The Facts have taken some time off as of late but many of the members have kept busy with other projects. Johnny Ibay recently played with Haymaker at the A389 Anniversary. Marc Bourgon teamed up with Steve Vargas of The Great Sabatini to record a new side project Greber. It's a little bit more in the hardcore vein (but still rules), and you can stream all of that EP below, and then pick up a copy and/or a t-shirt at their merch site.
Speaking of Joel from Defeatist, he'll debut his new band Praetura at Acheron on 2/5. The show will also feature The Osedax (ex-Psyopus), Backslider, and Misanthropic Noise. Defeatist will also play 5/22 at The Charleston with Internal Rot and Doubled Over.
Retro Grave (with Jeff Olson, ex-Trouble) will headline The Studio at Webster Hall on 4/23 and snag both Gnaw (who is also playing with Locrian) and Kayo Dot for support. The show is one of two scheduled for Kayo Dot, as they'll also play Bowery Electric on 3/25 with Vaura & Throat

Phantom Glue, photo by Reid/Bummer City Photo & Design
Phantom Glue recently bid adeiu to drummer Terri Christopher (of 27), but the Boston band made up of members of Huguenots and Proselyte are still on schedule to play a string of dates on the East Coast in late January. January 28th means a Brooklyn show at The Acheron with support from Defeatist, Xaddax (featuring Nick of ex-Dazzling Killmen) and Castevet (who will also appear at the same venue exactly two weeks earlier with Seidr, Lake of Blood, and Falls of Rauros).
Castevet/Defeatist bassist Josh Scott's other band, Radiation Blackbody, will also play a show with Xaddax at Bruar Falls on 1/26 with Vaz and Fall Of Another Day. Josh Scott listed his Top Albums of 2010 for us. Check that out now.
The Acheron will also host Cali-killers The Love Below and NJ's own Pharoah on January 23rd, one day after the two bands play the A389 anniversary in Baltimore with Integrity, Haymaker, Dropdead, Rot In Hell, and a number of notable others. Pharoah played NYC on 12/20 at Lit Lounge with Dutchguts and State Graves (ex-Easter).
Phantom Glue welcomed their self-titled debut via Teenage Disco Bloodbath Records earlier this year. The Kurt-Ballou-produced effort maintains his patented crunch. It falls somewhere between High On Fire and hardcore on bruisers like "Brainbow" and "Phantom Glue" - both songs that are downloadable above and streaming below.
