Graveyard @ Bowery Ballroom
Graveyard

They went on around about 11 pm, and the crowd was noisy for them, singing along, shouting "louder!" and "Graveyard!" among other things. The smell of sweet green smoke was in the air, and cups of beer were in everyone's hands... Anyway, Graveyard killed, but unlike that sticker on the album, I found them to be more a mixture of Blue Cheer-MC5-Deep Purple-Jimi Hendrix-with Bill Ward on drums. I dug the set, and am glad I picked up the album. Actually going to listen to it now.

Graveyard kicked off a string of US dates with Radio Moscow on Thursday (1/12) at Bowery Ballroom. The show, which also featured support from Daniel Davies, was one of several rescheduled dates that were cancelled due to visa issues in the tail end of 2011. The Swedes are touring in support of their latest LP Hisingsen Blues, which made Decibel's Top 40 of 2011.

Pictures/setlists from Bowery Ballroom are below.

Graveyard

Swedish retro rockers Graveyard released their sophomore LP Hisingen Blues this past April via Nuclear Blast. They're definitely channelling tons of Zeppelin on the album, but also paying homage to other '70s heroes with song titles like "Uncomfortably Numb" and "Ungrateful Are The Dead." You can check out the video for the album's title track below.

Graveyard were originally scheduled to play Fun Fun Fun Fest, which went down in Austin this past weekend, but had to drop off the fest after canceling their US dates due to visa issues. Now they're planning another US run in early 2012 which kicks off at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on January 12. Tickets for the NYC show go on sale Friday (11/11) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (10/9) at noon. Hopefully they'll be able to make it over to the US this time.

All dates on the tour are with fellow throwback riffers Radio Moscow. Radio Moscow dropped their third LP, The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz last month via Alive Naturalsound. Two of the album's tracks are available to stream below.

All dates, video, and song streams below...

Dead Man

Swedish throwback proto-doomers Dead Man are teaming up with Radio Moscow for a short US tour kicking off TONIGHT (2/5) at Union Pool and concluding Feb 21st at Cake Shop! Union Pool gets Headdress while Cake Shop will also feature Bogan Dust and D. Charles Speer & the Helix.

Dead Man, whose members possess a wealth of musical experience derived from time spent in various Swedish acts (including the hard rock band Norrsken, which also featured in its ranks current Witchcraft front man Magnus Pelander and Graveyard members Joakim Nilsson and Rikard Edlund), play magnetic, spirited rock with melancholic undertones and "a slight touch of darkness" (calling for comparisons to Jefferson Airplane, Blue Cheer, Dungen and Dead Meadow).
Dead Man does share some stylistic traits with those bands, but also quite alot of folk, as evidenced by their new record, Euphoria, out NOW on Crusher Records. Check out "Rest In Peace" available for download above.

Radio Moscow drops their new record Brain Cycles on April 14th via Alive Records, thats just nine days after the band is scheduled to play Roadburn with Neurosis, Saint Vitus, Om, and many many more.
