Bruce Springsteen @ Giants Stadium (more by Tim Griffin)
Bruce Sprinsteen

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concerts at Madison Square Garden scheduled for October 29th and 30th will go on without Eric Clapton. Bruce Springsteen's participation is in question due to a death in the family that caused him to cancel last night's show in Kansas City.

Lenny Sullivan, Bruce's cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last ten years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family.

[and] Due to [the] death in Bruce's immediate family, [Monday night's] show at Sprint Center has been unavoidably cancelled. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. Bruce and The Band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity. [BruceSpringsteen.net]

R.I.P. Lenny.

Eric Clapton won't be at MSG because he's having gallstones removed.

Van Morrison recently canceled his performance at the show as well (he was replaced by Buddy Guy). Some tickets are still available (I was able to pull up a $2600 seat for the second night)...or you can try eBay where they'll run you in the same ballpark as a World Series ticket.

Still on the bill for night one are Sting, Little Richard, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Smokey Robinson and Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel and Crosby and Stills and Nash; and for night two Jeff Beck, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Guy, U2, Aretha Franklin and Metallica.

Leonard Cohen

Little Leonard Cohen headlines the giant Madison Square Garden this evening (10/23). Van Morrison plays the smaller Theater on Sunday (10/25).

Van Morrison was actually scheduled to make an appearance in the bigger venue too this month, but...

The concerts celebrating the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are right around the corner on 29 and 30 October at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. There has been a change in the guest lineup for 30 October, the evening Eric Clapton is scheduled to perform. Van Morrison is no longer on the show. Buddy Guy will now be performing. Other special guests for Friday include Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Jerry Lee Lewis, Annie Lennox and Lenny Kravitz.
Speaking of cancellations and Lenny Kravitz, Lenny's recently cancelled show at Irving Plaza was rescheduled for October 28th.

Radiohead

Beastie Boys, Madonna, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer, Afrika Bambaataa, The Ventures and Chic are the 2008 Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame nominees. It seems hip hop is well represented, but there's no Radiohead, and there's no metal.

Radiohead has a song in Tom Cruise's 2001 movie Vanilla Sky and now the guy trying to extort money from Tom Cruise has been found dead. Supposedly from suicide.

Perhaps Jenna Bush's new book Ana's Story will reveal if it was her or her sister that was at that Radiohead show last year. People are wondering.

Mark Ronson's new album Version contains a Radiohead cover, and one of Britney Spears who luckily lost custody of her children, except maybe it isn't lucky because she lost that custody to Kevin Federline.

According to Wikipedia, Kid A's "production style" is "similar to Phil Spector's wall of sound technique", and now Phil Spector is free on murder charges due to a mistrial.

Radiohead & The Pipettes are both from the UK, and are both loved by Pitchfork. Thom Yorke scored a stunning victory against The Pipettes in 2006 when he walked away with the prize for "best vinyl artwork". To make matters worse, now the Pipettes have had to postpone their tour.

Speaking of female artists from the UK, Radiohead coverer KT Tunstall doesn't think Thom Yorke should abandon his career or shut up, but Noel Gallagher of Oasis thinks he should. Oasis has been posting new videos on YouTube to promote their new DVD called "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" - out November 6th on Universal. KT Tunstall's new album Drastic Fantastic is out now on Virgin - some people like it, and some people don't, but it is a known fact that almost everyone likes Radiohead.

Radiohead's new album In Rainbows will be released in just nine days. How much did you pay for your copy?
