The above is a list of some of the musical guests Saturday Night Live has had on in the past 3-4 years. It's not super surprising then that next week's musical guest is going to be one of 2008's biggest indie success stories. The Sub Pop-signed Fleet Foxes will join host Rosario Dawson on the NBC TV show on January 17th.

This week (January 10)'s SNL guests are Neil Patrick Harris and Taylor Swift. Watch it with your pants off.

Taylor Swift is actually on an indie label, and if you count Arctic Monkeys (along with Arcade Fire, Spoon, the Shins, and Vampire Weekend), Fleet Foxes will actually be the 7th indie indie-label band ever to play the show (for what it's worth).

Who do you think they'll pick next? Bon Iver? Animal Collective?

Many SNL members regularly play live in shows at NYC's UCB Theatre (the home of indie comedy).

Fred Armisen recently performed with Yo La Tengo, appeared in a Beardo sketch, played some shows with Aimee Mann, and helped raise money for NY Cares at the now-extinct Knitting Factory.

Ruby Isle

Ruby Isle is the band that covers everything and features Dan Geller from I Am The World Trade Center and I it seems, that like Weezer and like Girl Talk and Dan Deacon, they've managed to hookup with internet sensation Tay Zonday (MP3 above). "The LP also features a duet version of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" with IATWTC's Amy Dykes." They're also now in NYC. All dates below...

Ruby Isle

Last Friday, Ruby Isle was in the middle of recording our new record and were looking for some inspiration so we decided to take whatever track was number one on elbo.ws and cover it. It turned out it was a song by Hello, Blue Roses called Shadow Falls. Hello, Blue Roses has that guy Dan Bejar in it from Destroyer and The New Pornographers. This is conincdental because Ryan and I had a friend named Rob that had a label called Catsup Plate that put out a Destroyer record. Then our friend Phil Waldorf put out another Destroyer record on Misra. Then things got all out of control and they signed to Merge and became rock stars.

On to the song… It was a pretty easy song to cover because it is very simple. Basically a chorus with some verselike parts that go in and out. Our take on it is VERY different, I hope we don’t offend HBR because we mean no harm. It was just supposed to be a fun send up of a current indie fave. Keep in mind we recorded and mixed it in about 5 hours. So here it is: Ruby Isle - Shadow Falls (Hello, Blue Roses), ENJOY!!! [Kindercore]

This seemed like as good a way as any to finally point out that Dan Geller from I am The World Trade Center is in a new band, and that as far as I know, Amy Dykes is doing okay.
