Ryan, Jen & friends at Bowery Ballroom in September (via QRO)

Cribs frontman Ryan Jarman surprised NYC with his first-ever solo show back in August at Cameo Gallery, and it looks like it has become a thing. At that show he was joined by multiple guests (Jen Turner formerly of Here We Go Magic, Jeffrey Lewis, Devin, and Penn Badgely from Gossip Girl), and then in September he opened for The Vaccines at Bowery Ballroom with a band billed as Ryan Jarman's Exclamation Pony. He's since said, "We don't officially have a name yet. We had one for that show. When it's official, you'll all know." You can watch a video of the band from that show below. Like at that first solo show, Jen Turner was again involved and has since been confirmed as an official member of the band. NME reports:

Jarman has previously told NME of the project: "The whole point of what we're trying to do is be very liberated, to be able to do what we want and live how we want - we live at the end of the day, we find we write better at the night, late at night or seven in the morning. That really adds a whole different feel to it. It suits both our characters better. We both live at the other end of the day anyway."

The duo are already believed to have completed an album after an intensive month of nocturnal sessions. The "experimental" record has seen the band track a brass section, and Jarman added: "A couple of the songs are more experimental. Jen's quite an experimental guitar player, but it's not even all guitar-led stuff."

Don't worry, The Cribs have not broken up and will tour the UK and Europe beginning October 19. Before that, however, Ryan will play another show at Cameo Gallery on Thursday (10/11) with Mon Khmer and Bennio Qwerty (members of North Highlands, Wise Blood, and Forest Fire). Regarding his set up for this show, Ryan tweeted, "Will it be the new band or solo?? Not sure, come!" Tickets are on sale now.

The video from the Bowery Ballroom show and a list of all Cribs dates are below.
