Bad news, good news time for fans of UK quintet Breton. The band, whose new album is out in February, were supposed to play Montreal and NYC next week (Glasslands on 12/13). Unfortunately due to Visa Issues the band are going to have to postpone their trip. It's a bummer, as Breton's new album, War Stories, is a considerable step-up from their first LP. The band are coming back for SXSW in March so hopefully they'll make a pitstop in NYC on their way to or from.
On the plus side, Breton had made an exclusive mix for BrooklynVegan for their trip next week. While the shows aren't happening, you can listen to the mix -- featuring Mount Kimbie, Nicolas Jaar, No Regular Play, Samiyam, Beacon, and more -- below.

Cali rapper Blu was supposed to release NoYork! through Warner back in 2011 but he was dropped from the label and "unofficial" releases began circling the web instead. Now he's finally set to give the album a proper birth on March 26 of this year. NoYork! is helmed by an all-star cast of producers -- Flying Lotus, Madlib, Daedelus, Samiyam, Exile, Knxwledge, Shafiq Husayn, and Dibia$e -- and features a ton of great guest spots as well -- Edan, U-God (Wu-Tang), Pac Div, J*Davey, Tiron & Ayomari, and more. You can pre-order the album at Nature Sounds (which comes with an immediate free download) and stream some of its tracks below.
Blu and Madlib also teamed up with MED for another collaborative release, The Burgundy EP, which came out today (2/19) and can be purchased at the Stones Throw Webstore. Each track is produced by Madlib, except "This Is Your Life," which was done by Madlib collaborator Georgia Anne Muldrow. You can stream the opening track "Burgundy Whip" below.
Blu will also be going on a short tour this April with Tiron & Ayomari (who appear on NoYork!), as Potholes In My Blog reports. The tour kicks off in NYC on April 10 at Public Assembly. No advance tickets for this show yet, but you can check ticketweb for updates.

Captain Murphy aka Flying Lotus
If you aren't already familiar with new rapper Captain Murphy, who first appeared on the Adult Swim single, "Between Friends" with Flying Lotus and Earl Sweatshirt, he had been keeping his identity concealed but many rumors circulated that Captain Murphy was the rapper alter ego of FlyLo himself, or a member of Odd Future. He released his impressive debut mixtape, Duality, as one long audio file in a video (which you can watch below) but has since released a deluxe edition with the tracks separated and bonus material, which you can download for free HERE. Most of the mixtape was produced by Flying Lotus and also included production from Brainfeeder producers Jeremiah Jae, Samiyam, and Teebs, plus hip hop production greats Madlib and Just Blaze, and a beat by upcoming duo TNGHT. The full tracklist is below.
If you've been following along with all the Captain Murphy insanity, you may know that he made his live debut last night (11/28) in LA at The Airliner. And as you can see in the picture above from the show, Captain Murphy is in fact Flying Lotus (via Complex). FlyLo has since taken to twitter to comment on the identity revealing.

Daedelus at LPR (more by Chris Doss)
South by Southwest isn't the only major music fest that goes down in March. Ultra Music Festival happens a few days later in Maimi, and the now-sold out, three-day party features a giant lineup of electro acts, many who hit NYC right before or after.
Their lineup includes Duran Duran (who is also playing SXSW), Crystal Castles (who have a show coming up at Terminal 5), The Klaxons, (who play Webster Hall), Trentemoller (who plays MHoW soon), Cut Copy (who plays T5 in triplicate), Royksopp (who plays MHOW and Webster Hall), ... the list goes on and on and includes Daedelus.
Los Angeles DJ and producer Daedelus will play a Brooklyn show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 2nd. Tickets are currently on AmEx presale, and go on regular sale Friday at noon (3/10). Daedelus is also playing SXSW and many other places as part of the 'Magical Properties 3 Tour'. The full list of his dates and openers is below.
Daedelus's new LP Bespoke is due in North America on April 26th via Ninja Tune Records and includes guest appearances by Baths, Busdriver and many others. RCRD LBL has the track with Bilal. Check out the tracklisting, some videos and all tour dates, below...

DOWNLOAD: The Gaslamp Killer + Daedelus - Impulse (Free the Robots remix) (MP3)
The Gaslamp Killer and Daedelus are currently on tour with Free The Robots and Samiyam and hit Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on 11/4. Pictures of that show are in this post. Did you pick up the copy of the tour only 7"? If not, you can grab one of those songs for free above.
Three of the four artists have newer releases to celebrate. The Gaslamp Killer recently dropped the Death Gate EP, which is streamable below and available for purchase at his bandcamp page. Free The Robots dropped CTRL ALT DELETE on Alpha Pup and Daedelus dropped Righteous Fists Of Harmony on Ninjatune earlier this year.
That EP stream, tour dates and more pictures are below.
There's a man behind the decks who looks somewhat like Rasputin, had Rasputin been born an Edwardian dandy. He goes by the name The Gaslamp Killer and sports a comically oversized handlebar moustache, a mop of curly hair, a long beard and a T-shirt with a large print of himself emblazoned upon it ('it's good to act as your own billboard,' he says). The "Magical Properties Tour" is underway. LA DJs/producers The Gaslamp Killer and Daedelus are co-headlining dates across the country with fellow LA Flying Lotus associate and 8-bit video game inspired hip hop beatmaker Samiyam. The likeminded Teebs is currently fourth on the bill, but will be replaced by fellow Californian Free The Robots when the tour hits Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on November 4th. Note that the lineup on LPR's website is reportedly wrong - Teebs is not on the bill, and Free the Robots is.
From a tangle of equipment at the DJ booth, he starts to emit strange, hypnotic noises - stuttering beats, Oriental scales, psychedelic sound effects and horror movie samples -punctuated with touches of dubstep and drum'n'bass.
The dandy Rasputin starts leaping around, headbanging, freaking out and playing air drums to the music, sometimes getting so excited that he forgets to cue in a sound effect.
'You know that feeling when you hear that sound that drives you nuts?' he says later. 'You want to push people out of the way so you can dance to it. And I try to play songs that turn people into dancing maniacs as soon as they hear it. That's what I want to do when I hear it. I go a bit... nuts.' [Metro]
If you do hit one of the shows, make sure to also hit the merch table because their you'll find a tour-only 7" single for the song "Impulse" Side A is "Impulse" and Side B is the Free the Robots remix that you can now exclusively grab as an MP3 above. That's three of the four artists on the bill, all contributing to the one song.
