The infamous actress and pornstar (ex-pornstar?) Sasha Grey is also known for making music, her own music even. Her group aTelecine is signed to Pendu Sound who are now releasing a limited trilogy of gatefold LPs. Pendu writes:

So what does aTelecine sound like? aTelecine take an experimental approach to making music in the form of sound collages which bring to mind artists such as Nurse With Wound and Coil branching out into a world of dark ambient and death-dub. Their music is ever evolving and mutating and it's only with each new album that they release that we are able to glimpse where they are heading.
The albums, The Falcon and the Pod, Sounds that Gods Fear, and Are you Attracted to Wounded Animals come as a box set which comes with a bonus 7" that features "a special guest/goth legend" (not sure who the legend is). The trilogy is limited to 300 pressings (so act quick) and can only be purchased directly through Pendu Sound now. Here's how it works:
You will receive the first two records separately. "The Falcon and The Pod" will come out first on August 9, followed by "Sounds That Gods Fear" October 11. The Third LP, "Are you Attracted to Wounded Animals", will come out December 6 and will arrive in the Special Box that will also contain the bonus 7". You will then be able to place all LPs and 7" in this Box completing the subscription. Note: No refunds for subscriptions.

As previously mentioned, Pendu also releases Chelsea Wolfe's great sophomore LP in August. Stay tuned for a related NYC show announcement, and check out the above picture that Sasha Tweeted yesterday of her and her labelmate and America Young. I'm not sure what the picture is for, but Sasha wrote "Sneak peak from last weekend's shoot." (get your minds out of the gutter!)

Tonight (6/24) at Public Assembly, Pendu, also known for their parties, are celebrating their 50th Pendu Disco Party with appearances by Jokers of the Scene (Fool's Gold), Follower, White Ring (DJ set), and Pendu Disco DJs. You can save $1 at the door by RSVPing to the facebook event.

Pendu Disco also hits Secret Project Robot on July 2 & July 7. July 2nd is LICKER LICENSE, A touring Girl-On-Girl Video & Performance Event, and July 7th will feature appearances by Teams, Zombelle, Myrrh Ka Ba, Mascara, Disaro, and Pendu Disco DJs.

C93's David Tibet with Sasha Grey
David Tibet with Sasha Grey

S&S: Are you interested in the occult or any other mystical systems? Have you ever experimented with sex magick?

Sasha Grey: Thanks to Jimmy Paige and C93, I became quite fascinated with the writings of Aleister Crowley, and later LaVey. I am sex magic.

S&S: You recently collaborated with David Tibet on Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain. What was it like working with him?

Sasha: We have an interesting relationship as our lives are drastically different, but there's definitely a subconcious connection that happens between us. I recorded my vocals literally in a few hours, and I was, and still am quite self concious about my music yet I still immensly enjoy the process.

Back in September it was announced that there would be a series of Current 93 shows in April and May in London & NYC. Well, NYC didn't happen, but London did just get two:
"I and all of C93 want to thank everyone who attended the two concerts in London; without you we are nothing. We also want to thank Comus, Simon Finn, Nurse With Wound, Rameses III and These New Puritans for appearing. We were absolutely astounded by all their sets.

Personally, I wish to thank all of C93: Andrew W.K., Matt Sweeney, Keith Wood, James Blackshaw, Stephen Emmel, William Breeze, Baby Dee, Michael Cashmore, Eliot Bates, John Contreras, Andrew Liles, Sarah Dietrich and Alex Neilson. To have Bill Fay appear with us was an experience that was so meaningful for us all; Bill Fay is Divinity! And thank you Sebastian Horsley for introducing us on both nights--I love you!" [David Tibet]

Andrew WK was there, and I'm sure he will be again when the NYC shows actually do happen. That's because David has also announced that "C93 will be playing two or three nights at Santos Party House in NYC [Andrew's club], probably some time between 10-20 October. More details soon. These will be our only US shows this year." Stay tuned for more details.

David Tibet contributed to Baby Dee's recently released A Book of Songs for Anne Marie, out now on Drag City. Baby Dee is touring with Swans.

Perry Farrell

For a 72-year-old man, he sure gets around. Lee "Scratch" Perry is playing that Oct 25th CMJ show at Santos Party House with Restavrant, Iran, Vaz, The Muslims, and The Sundelles as part of a Narnack Records CMJ showcase.

AND the (mad) man has lined up a second date the night before (Oct 24th) at Gramercy Theater. Tickets are on sale. Just to be clear, that's two NYC shows in two CMJ days for Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Perry recently released his latest album, Repentance, on Narnack in August with a lead single (download it above) and video entitled... ahem... "Pum Pum". The album is produced by Andrew WK (part owner of Santos Party House where the CMJ party is) and features Moby, Don Fleming, Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt) and.... Sasha Grey? Is that where the "Pum Pum" comes from?

More tour dates TBA soon. Videos below...
