Sauna

Sauna (mem Weaves, Greys, Fake Palms) prep debut EP -- hear two new songs

Sauna is a new trio with some familiar faces from the Toronto indie scene: Zach Bines (of Weaves), Braeden Craig (of Greys), and Michael le Riche (of Fake Palms). They released their debut single “Over” last fall on Idée Fixe Records, and they’re gearing up to put out an EP on the label soon. While most details on the EP are still TBA, we’re now premiering the new single “Felt,” along with its b-side “Waiting.”

Speaking about “Felt,” Michael le Riche tells us, “Las Vegas, 1950s. Diamond necklaces, sequin dresses, classic cars, and tailored suits. American opulence packaged at it’s most optimistic. ‘Felt’ is about the dark side of that opulence. What lay underneath it all.” It may be about the 1950s, but “Felt” and the other two Sauna songs sound like a trip back to the 1980s New Romantic/synthpop era, with all the crooned baritones and eerie yet catchy melodies you want from this kind of stuff. Listen to all three songs below.

Sauna also have upcoming Toronto shows with Methyl Ethyl, Absolutely Free, The Lithics, and Tough Age. All dates are listed below.
