Sera Cahoone is currently on the road supporting Sea Wolf (who is playing solo acoustic this time around). That tour, which also includes singer-songwriter Patrick Park, hits Mercury Lounge in NYC (with Golden Bloom) on Sunday (tickets) and Knitting Factory in Brooklyn the next day (tickets). All dates are below.
Sera isn't out promoting anything really, but she is involved in some new records, sort of, and those are the Carissa's Wierd reissues that are coming soon (October 12th to be exact) from Sub Pop-related label Hardly Art. Pre-order all that stuff, and get a taste (if you're not already familiar) via the five free MP3's on the top of this post.
And though Sera isn't signed to Hardly Art (she's on Sub Pop), La Sera is! (sorry)
Going to the shows? Look out for a new Sea Wolf 7"...
...Also, my label will be releasing a 7" vinyl-and-digital-only single for 'Turn the Dirt Over' (from White Water, White Bloom), which will be available during the tour. The Album Leaf...
A Chorus of Storytellers was recorded by Ryan Hadlock in the frosty month of February 2009 at Bear Creek Studio just outside of Seattle. It was mixed in the decidedly warmer month of June in Reykjavik, Iceland by Birgir Jon Birgisson. Those paying attention will notice that this is nearly the same way their last album Into the Blue Again was recorded. There is, however, one fundamental difference between this and every other album The Album Leaf has ever recorded. For the first time in five albums, The Album Leaf recorded as a whole band. In the past, almost every instrument was performed by principal songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle. This time the whole band was invited to participate and the result is their best record yet. [Sub Pop]The Album Leaf's A Chorus of Storytellers came out February 2nd on Sub Pop. A track from that is posted above.
The band goes on tour with Sea Wolf (L.A. songwriter Alex Brown Church and band) this month down the West Coast, and then again for more shows in April and May. That includes a May 1st show at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are on AmEx presale now; they go on general sale at noon.

Speaking exclusively to Gigwise, Editors frontman Tom Smith said: "The films aren't aimed at people our age but I look at the bands that we're next to on that soundtrack and it's just a good thing.Cover art and tracklist below...
"It's not selling out, it's not putting your song on an advert or selling a product.
"It's just being part of something that, to me, as collective seems like a pretty attractive thing."
New Moon is the second instalment of the vampire franchise, which stars British actor Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Sea Wolf is the music of L.A. songwriter Alex Brown Church (of Irving). This summer, Church and band have been putting the finishing touches on their Mike "Monster of Folk" Mogis-produced second record, White Water, White Bloom, which is set to come out September 22nd on Dangerbird Records.
The band will be going on a North American tour this fall. That includes NYC shows on Wednesday, October 14th at Mercury Lounge and Friday, October 16th at Union Hall. Tickets for the Mercury Lounge show go on AmEx presale today, July 29th, at noon. General sale starts Friday at noon. Union Hall tickets will probably go on sale soon. Port O'Brien and Sara Lov also play those NYC dates and many others on the tour.
Sara Lov (of Devics) releaed a solo album called Seasoned Eyes Were Beaming on March 31st via Nettwerk. The same label released Sara's EP called The Young Eyes on January 20th. Sara and Alex have toured in the past and are known to sing together on stage. All dates and some videos below...

We want to be JUST LIKE: Wolf Eyes, Wolf Parade, We Are Wolves, AIDS Wolf, Wolfie, Wolf Colonel, Patrick Wolf, WolfMother, Guitar Wolf, Steppenwolf, Hugo Wolf, Kate Wolf, Laurent Wolf, Wolf City, Duran Duran (though they don't really count. they were just 'hungry like a wolf'), Howlin' Wolf, Superwolf, White Wolf, Seasons of the Wolf, Wolf & Cub, Peanut Butter Wolf, Peter Wolf, Peter and the Wolf, Los Lobos, Fuckwolf, The Wolfgang Press, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Wolfstone, The Wolfnote...If there are any more that we haven't mentioned here, let us know! [says Sea Wolf on their MySpace page]MySpace is also where you can stream some more songs by the LA artist who is playing Mercury Lounge tonight (Nov 5) with Luke Rathborne, Tiny Vipers (Sub Pop), and Essie Jain (Badabing). Tiny Vipers is also playing Union Hall in Brooklyn on November 15th. Sea Wolf's Leaves in the River came out in September on Dangerbird.
Alex Church, the fertile songwriting mind behind Sea Wolf (rather tellingly, the moniker was culled from the title a Jack London novel), has a firm grip on the shadowy site of Americana. His project's debut LP, the Phil Ek-produced Leaves in the River, is a lush, darkly romantic set piece that has arrived just in time for the autumn. [Prefix]Alex Chuch used to be in Irving. Sea Wolf just got finished touring with Silversun Pickups and then Nada Surf. All current tour dates below...
