SECT Blood Beasts

SECT (Cursed, Earth Crisis, etc) surprise release new LP & video, playing shows

SECT, the killer hardcore band whose impressive lineup includes vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, The Damned Things, Fall Out Boy), have surprise-released a new album called Blood Of The Beasts today via Southern Lord. They also put out a Reid Haithcock-directed video for its opening track, “Like Animals.” The album is as much of a ripper as you’d hope; give it a spin below.

As mentioned, SECT are playing two East Coast shows this weekend, including one at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on Saturday afternoon (8/31) with Fluoride and Steel Cage (tickets). That’s a matinee, happening just hours before the Big Business show at the same venue. SECT also added some West Coast dates for October, including one at the iconic 924 Gilman. All dates are listed below.

In related news, we just featured both Earth Crisis and Catharsis in 15 ’90s metalcore albums that still resonate today.
