We previously discussed Phily's Riot Fest East that will feature an appearance from the mighty Descendents and The Suicide Machines who they also play with in NYC. Riot Fest East, an offshoot of the Chicago festival, happens on September 24th.
The Chicago version of the festival, October 5-9, previously announced that Weezer, Social Distortion, Descendents, 7 Seconds, ALL (two different eras!), Helmet, and X (playing Los Angeles) were all on the lineup, but left one big announcement for today...
On Friday October 7, 2011 Danzig will headline Riot Fest and perform a career spanning show featuring sets of Danzig, Samhain and Misfits songs with none other than Doyle joining on guitar the Misfits set. We've waited years for this and we can't wait to see the inside of the Congress Theater turn into a churning sea of humanity.Tickets for both Riot Fest Chicago and Riot Fest East are now on sale, and more band announcements are stil to come(!).
Tickets are now also on sale for the Descendents show at Roseland Ballroom that Suicide Machines and H20 are opening.
X are performing Los Angeles at both Riot Fests AND on two nights at Irving Plaza in NYC. Tickets are on sale for those shows too.

This year the festival will host at least fifteen 'headline-level' artists of all music genres, more than 100 artists total. Attendance projections for the festival is more than 25,000 paid attendees, which will include a core group of at least 5,000 all-access badge holders.
TSOL show in LA

After going through many lineup changes and even replacing their singer, legendary punk band TSOL reformed with their original lineup in 2007 (except for drummer Todd Barnes who passed away in 1999). They've since released Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Free Downloads for free download (naturally) on Hurley's website, though the link is no longer active. They continue to tour.
The band recently kicked off a tour with Shot Baker. The tour comes through NYC this Sunday (6/12) at Santos Party House. Tickets are still on sale.
Hopefully no riots break out... Laist reported back in January:
"The great TSOL played the Key Club tonight... and in true punk rock fashion... caused a riot and shut down Sunset Blvd. Reminds me of 1982," Tweeted brooklyndom last night.Hopefully this one isn't causing the band to deal with any more attorney fees. There were many reports in the media and in social media of helicopters, closed roads, bottles thrown at authorities, and what many consider good old fashioned punk rock pandemonium last night, when a fight escalated into what is being called a riot at the Key Club in West Hollywood. Six people were arrested, and one person was reported injured, according to KTLA, though their identity and condition were not immediately clear.
"The initial fight may have been between a patron and club security," and broke out around 10:30 p.m. said Weho Daily, "but the large crowd turned on deputies and began throwing rocks and bottles." A security guard working for the Sunset Strip Business District "took a bottle to the head," and could be the one injury reported.
Watch videos of the cops beating concert-goers, along with some other recent live videos of the band and all tour dates below...

It is with great regret that we must announce that the upcoming ALL East Coast Tour with Off with Their Heads and Shot Baker in January 2010 has been temporarily postponed. Although a full recovery is anticipated, Bill is unable to perform at this time, due to a current medical situation. It will take some time for Bill to recover, and because of this, it was necessary that the January tour be postponed until a future date. Of course, refunds will be given at your point of purchase. ALL would like to send their deepest apologies for everyone who was planning to attend the shows. We're extremely excited to return to the east coast and are looking forward to rescheduling the tour as soon as possible.Damn. This affects all initially announced dates + the more-recently added 2nd Brooklyn show & probably the related Mercury Lounge show.

All, in 2008 - Scott, Karl, Stephen, Bill (photo by Carl Stormer)

Due to unprecedented demand for snarky, high-speed, fun-loving punk rock, All (Scott Reynolds on vocals, Bill Stevenson on drums, Karl Alvarez, on bass, and Stephen Egerton on guitar) have tacked on an EARLIER show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on 1/9 with doors opening at 5PM, just four hours before the doors open for their previously announced shindig at the same venue. Tickets for the early show go on sale Wednesday (12/2 at noon). The later show is still on sale now. Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker are on tap to open both shows as well as the entire tour.
So why not add a second show one night later? One reason might be because Scott Reynolds (of All), Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker will share a bill that night (1/10) at Mercury Lounge. The three artists will be providing support for old school Cali punks Agent Orange. Tickets are on sale. The intimate NYC show is part of a greater Agent Orange tour that kicks off in Florida at the tail end on 2009 and extends through the end of January.
Scott Reynolds dropped an LP in early 2008 as part of Scott Reynolds & The Steaming Beast - a band which also featured Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips and producer Dave Fridmann in their ranks. Pick up a copy of that record here.
All, um, All and Agent Orange tour dates and a recent All live video are below...

As a youngster, my punk rock friend Bob was constantly trying to get me to listen to more than just metal. He succeeded in getting me into groups like Pegboy, Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Samhain, The Misfits, Public Image Ltd. and the like. But two acts that really appealed to me at the time and ended up being the soundtrack to the summer of 1992 were The Descendents and ALL.
In all my 32 years on earth there have been many opportunities, yet I have yet to see either band live. Luckily that's (sort of) going to change when ALL invades the east coast, for the first time since 2002 (the first time since 1988 with Scott Reynolds), with a four show mini-tour that will bring them to Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday, January 9, 2010 (tickets onsale 11/18 at noon). ALL. On a Saturday night. Practically in my own back yard. YES.
For those of you who have been living in a cave, ALL evolved from The Descendents, a band who once claimed they couldn't sell out a telephone booth but whose impact on rock is undeniable. The Descendents created ALL, a concept celebrating the satisfaction that comes from one's highest achievement, eventually naming their new band in tribute to their own personal ideology. The line-up will consist of Scott Reynolds on vocals, Bill Stevenson on drums, Karl Alvarez, on bass, and Stephen Egerton on Guitar. Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker open all shows. The tour dates are below...

First of all, Riot Fest Chicago is not a celebration commemorating the riots at the 1968 Democratic Convention. There are no cops in attendance (unsympathetic ones anyway), and no one is there to "set the record straight".
In 2005 Mike Petryshyn started Riot Fest... With one eye on the legendary Chicago punk scene and the other on the bands that inspire them, he started building the festival, with an ambitious multiple show/venue format despite his inexperience. He put special emphasis on reuniting influential punk and underground bands who hadn't shared the stage in years and Chicago's rich punk history has always been a huge part of the Riot Fest roster, this year 11 bands from the area are confirmed so far.Year five of Riot Fest in Chicago is systems-go from Oct 7th-12th and with an enviable punk rock lineup of Butthole Surfers, Naked Raygun, Cock Sparrer, Dead Milkmen, Murder City Devils, NOFX, 88 Fingers Louie, Screeching Weasel, Pegboy, Off With Their Heads, and many many more. Full lineup and flyer (with New Bomb Turks not listed) is below.
Besides the obvious awesomeness of Naked Raygun, who played their first reunion gig at Riot Fest in 2006 (and who are playing NYC soon, tickets on sale), and a few key others, one exciting band on the lineup is the UK's Oi! pioneers Cock Sparrer:
Cock Sparrer (initially Cock Sparrow) are a punk rock band formed in 1974 in the East End of London, England. Although they never enjoyed much commercial success, the band is considered one of the most influential streetpunk bands in history, helping pave the way for the late-1970s punk scene and the Oi! subgenre. Their style was influenced by pub rock, glam rock and raw 1960s beat music as delivered by bands like The Small Faces and The Who. Their lyrics mostly dealt with topics related to the daily lives of working class people.Cock Sparrer recently played Chaos in Tejas. Riot Fest and a two night stand at The Great American Music Hall in San Fran are currently the only US dates that the band has lined up for the future (dates below).
Cock Sparrer just released their first album in 10 years, Here We Stand, which washed up on US shores last month via Pirates Press. The 14 track LP was recorded by Pat Collier (The Vibrators) and mixed by Lars Fredriksen (Rancid) and includes "Spirit of '76" which is downloadable above.
Meanwhile, Riot Fest is also spreading it's wings out west to bring Los Angeles it's own taste from November 12-14. Lineups are to be announced, but look for those bands at the participating stages of The Palladium, The Wiltern, Key Club and The Roxy. More details are to come.
Naked Raygun is bringing the reunion east for 5 shows! ----- (4 w/ Paint it Black) - 2009 Tour Dates

"Naked Raygun is a Chicago-based punk rock group. Initially active from 1980 to about 1992, Naked Raygun had several short-lived reunions afterwards and a full-time reformation in 2006." [Wikipedia]Since playing their first reunion show at Riot Fest in Chicago, the band has have toured the West Coast, played more shows in Chicago, released a DVD, and even written some new songs. Naked Raygun have NOT yet been east. That changes in September when they'll visit Boston, Philly, Baltimore, Hoboken, and Brooklyn for five reunion shows. Shot Baker opens all of the shows. Paint it Black opens four of them. Tickets for both NYC-area shows go on sale Friday at noon. All dates below...
