Cocorosie / Jean Grae

The third annual Tinderbox Music Festival went down across three stages at Webster Hall this past Sunday (11/11). The festival aims to showcase "powerful, diverse, and innovative female artists and female-fronted bands" and this year's fest included Cocorosie, Jean Grae, Selebrities, Sirius Plan, Mal Blum (who plays Mercury Lounge on 12/11 with Zoe Boekbinder and tickets go on sale Monday [11/19] at noon), and more.

The festival doubles as a benefit show, and like in past years proceeds went to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls Girls Write Now, and the Tinderbox Songwriting Workshop, but due to recent circumstances, this year they also donated part of the proceeds to New York Cares to help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Glamour Magazine talked to Sierra from Cocorosie right after the show:

Glamour: How do you feel right now after this amazing performance?

Sierra: I feel very lucky. I feel really blessed. The main thing we try to do is find our fear and run towards it. So lucky to have [Bianca] because there have been moments when I didn't have the courage to go through what I have, so I feel great. There are artists who have to do this, totally solo. I don't think I could do that, so working with fear is a big thing for me. For young artists and women, working with fear is probably what inspires us the most.

This Sunday (11/11) is the third-annual Tinderbox Music Festival which "powerful, diverse, and innovative female artists and female-fronted bands." We already mentioned that the line-up includes headliners Cocorosie but will also feature Jean Grae (who playes the Hurricane Sandy benefit at Knitting Factory on Thursday), Selebrities, Lili Haydn, Computer Magic, Hard Nips and more. Full line-up, which takes over all three stages at Webster Hall, is below.

Like the two years past, Tinderbox fest goes to support the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls Girls Write Now, and the Tinderbox Songwriting Workshop, but this year part of the net proceeds will go to New York Cares helping with Hurricane Sandy disaster relief. Tickets ($25) are still available. We're also giving a pair of tickets away and details on how to enter are below.
