Pagan Rituals

For an outsider, Tear it Up and Friends don't exactly seem like the best match for bandmates. Yet here's Pagan Rituals to prove them wrong. The gothic post-punk band, whose members have also been in Dead Nation, Kissing is a Crime, and Splitting Headache, have released a trio of tracks to the internet already, two of which will appear on on the new band's forthcoming debut 7". Look for the band to gig as well, playing their first NYC area dates on May 18th at Acheron with Altered Boys and Paranoias (tickets), and May 19 at Big Snow Buffalo Lodge with Spires, Shilpa Ray and Toons.

Streams of Pagan Rituals tracks are below...

White Fence
White Fence

As mentioned, White Fence's new album, Cyclops Reap, is out this week on John Dwyer's Castle Face label. Tim Presley doesn't seem to be running out of songs and this is another quality batch of paisley-scented psychedelia. You can stream "To The Boy I Jumped In The Hemlock Alley" below and hear the whole record over at Pitchfork.

White Fence will be in Brooklyn for the Northside Festival in June, playing two shows: the Panache showcase at Brooklyn Bowl on June 13 and then a late show at Knitting Factory on June 14. Tickets to the Knitting Factory show are on sale now; no word on Brooklyn Bowl tickets just yet.

The whole Panache showcase line-up is still forthcoming but we do know its being headlined by Mac DeMarco and we have updated dates for him below as well.

These are just a couple of the additions to the 2013 Northside line-up that includes that free Walkmen show in McCarren Park. Other new additions, Kylesa, Torche, Sonny & the Sunsets, NĂ¼ Sensae, Kisses, The Luyas and more. Northside line-up as it stands now is below.

California X
California X

I just caught California X down in Austin for SXSW, and their set was one of the most memorable shows I saw -- much more intense than the already-good record. So it's exciting to know that they'll be back on the Northeast live circuit this spring. They have a few April shows scheduled, including one in NYC which happens on April 26 at Death by Audio. Cali X play third in a lineup of four, which is headlined by DOM and includes openers Moss of Aura (aka Gerrit Welmers of Future Islands) and Spires. Admission is $8 at the door.

All dates are listed, along with a video of Cali X at SXSW, below...

Permanent Collection

San Francisco's Permanent Collection released their debut album, Newly Wed Nearly Dead, last August on Loglady Records. Frontman Jason Hendardy, who runs the label with Lauren loPrete, used to be in Young Prisms and there's more than a little shoegaze in PC's sound but is definitely poppier than Hendardy's old band. You can stream the whole thing below.

Permanent Collection are visiting NYC at the moment, playing Shea Stadium tonight (3/8) with Darlings, Field Mouse, and Honeydrum (info here, that's a good show!); and the previously-mentioned Cake Shop show on Saturday (3/9) with Italy's His Clancyness, Spires and former Get Him Eat Him frontman Matt LeMay.

Meanwhile, Cake Shop and Loglady will be in Austin next week for SXSW, co-presenting a showcase that happens Friday (3/15) at Trailerspace Records. Permanent Collection are playing, as are Part Time, California X, TV Ghost, Grandma's Boyfriend, Waxahatchee, and Dead Angle (ex-Tartans). It's a free show, all ages. More info here, and all Permanent Collection dates are listed, along with the Loglady/Cake Shop flyer, below.

his clancyness

As mentioned, His Clancyness are visiting from Bologna, Italy, stopping in NYC to play Glasslands on Sunday (3/10) before heading to Austin for SXSW. That show also features LODRO, Tweens and Basement Batman and tickets are still available. The band (featuring Jonathan Clancy of A Classic Education) have added another show while here: Saturday (3/9) at Cake Shop with Spires, Permanenent Collection (ex Young Prisms), and onetime Get Him Eat Him frontman, Matt LeMay.

You can stream some His Clancyness tracks and peruse a list of all tour dates, including the band's SXSW schedule, below.

Bleeding Rainbow at Fred Perry Artist Lounge, CMJ 2012 (more by Diana Wong)
tickets

Bleeding Rainbow's new album, Yeah Right, is out next week. If you liked their single "Wasting Time" you'll probably really dig the new album which is full of hooky, noise-and-harmony filled guitar pop. Pitchfork is streaming the album in full despite giving the album a middling review. (The band and P4k writer Steve Hyden got in a bit of a Twitter spat over it.) Personally, I like it a lot.

The band are going on a short run of dates next month in support of the new album, including two shows in NYC: February 11 at Cake Shop (openers TBA) and February 12 at Glasslands with Habibi, Census and Spires. No advance tickets for Cake Shop but Glasslands tickets are on sale now.

All Bleeding Rainbow tour dates below...

Brooklyn's Grand Resort have been around for about a year and recently released their debut EP, Vanguard Dreams. (Though at 30 minutes and eight songs, I consider that an LP but who's to say?) It's loaded with shimmery, super-catchy pop and you can stream it below.

Grand Resort have a few local shows on the horizon actually, including playing tonight (12/13) at Big Snow Buffalo Lodge with Eastern Hollows, The Meaning Of Life, and Softskull. They're also playing the "Rough Smooch" party at Legion on Sunday (12/16) we just posted about, plus Pianos on December 28 with Slonk Donkerson, Butter the Children (ex-Sweet Bulbs), Spires, and Sham-poo; and Union Hall on January 18 with Los Entantados, Chase King and Soft Collapse (tickets).

All tour dates are listed below, along with the EP stream.
