Brooklyn's Hilly Eye have a few shows coming up, including a couple this week during and around CMJ. As mentioned, they play the Life or Death showcase at 92YTribeca on Saturday (10/20) with DIIV, Maria Minerva, Mac DeMarco, Twerps, Starred, Kilo Kish, Slug Guts, Jozef Van Wissem, Sky Ferreira, and Dogbite. After that, they'll play an unofficial post-CMJ day party at 285 Kent on Sunday (10/21) with Blanche Blanche Blanche (who played Glasslands last month with Chris Cohen), Ireland bands Squarehead and So Cow, plus local bands Heaven's Gate, Ava Luna, and Butter the Children, and Massachusetts' Potty Mouth. The show runs from noon to 6 PM and there will be DJ sets by Grand Resort, Noah & Emily, and The Pelly Twins. The show is free to the public.

About a month later, Hilly Eye will play another local show at Saint Vitus on November 30 with their Don Giovanni labelmate Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield formerly of PS Eliot) and Corita. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Roanoke, VA indie pop band Eternal Summers will be heading out later this year as a support act on Nada Surf's tour which comes to NYC on December 14 for a show at Bowery Ballroom. Nada Surf also plays Bowery Ballroom again the next night (12/15) but no opener has been announced for that show. Tickets for both of Nada Surf's Bowery Ballroom shows are on sale now.

Eternal Summers will be in NYC much sooner though, seeing as they're scheduled to play at least three CMJ week shows. First they'll play the Kanine Records/Wild Honey Pie/Etnies/Brooklyn Brewery/BreakThru Radio day party at Cameo Gallery on October 19 with Valleys, Beach Day, Bleeding Rainbow, Zambri, Moon King, Roommates, and DJ sets from Patrick Wimberly (of Chairlift), Thomas Fekete (of Surfer Blood), Allen Blickle (of Baroness), and Xray Eyeballs. The party is free and starts at noon (flier below). Then they'll play the Dirty Laundry & Get Bent party at Pianos on October 20 with Har Mar Superstar, The Sundelles, Fergus & Geronimo, Shark?, Squarehead, Radical Dads, and . Tickets for that show are on sale now and the flier is below.

Eternal Summers will also play our BrooklynVegan day party at Public Assembly on Saturday (10/20) which is totally free. More info on that coming soon. Meanwhile we announced the lineup of our Friday day party at the same venue.

The band released their new album, Correct Behavior, over the summer and already have videos for its tracks, "Millions" and "You Kill." They recently finished up the video shoot for "Good As You," which you'll be seeing in the near future and are also holding a video contest for "I Love You." Entries are due October 31. You may have noticed the announcements of CMJ artists trickling out as of late (like Sub Pop's lineup), but now comes the official word from the fest on another batch of bands. Highilights include AraabMUZIK, UK acts Savages and Everything EveythingMr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Cities Aviv, Ken Mode (playing with Pig Destroyer), Daughn Gibson (playing with Pissed Jeans), Local H, Slug Guts, Dune Rats, Royal Canoe, and Sleepies among many many others. A full listing of the second round of CMJ artists is below.

One of said surprises is Merchandise, who plays NYC tonight at WIERD (9/12). The show is first of THREE NYC dates for the band, who will also play 538 Johnson tomorrow (9/13) before hitting Saint Vitus on Friday (9/14, tickets).

Squarehead

Dublin indie rock trio Squarehead, who were in Texas for SXSW, are blowing through NYC this week, playing Cake Shop tonight (3/26) with Heaven's Gate and then on Thursday (3/29) at Shea Stadium with Shark?, Diehard, Speedy Ortiz and Grass is Green.

The band released their debut album, Yeah Nothing, last year and it's pretty catchy stuff, scruffy indie pop with nods to the Beach Boys, Weezer and The Thrills. You can stream the whole thing below.
