The latest edition of the Suicidegirls Live Burlesque Tour (NSFW) hits Knitting Factory in NYC Monday (Oct 10, 2005). Their first tour was 2 or 3 years ago? Anyway, they just made it into a DVD called, "The First Tour." I suppose if you go to this show you might be on the Third(?) Tour DVD.
Last time Suicide Girls made an official appearance in NYC (not counting the ones who live here and make unofficial appearances every night) was just last month for CMJ. They were on the bill Friday night (Sept 16) at the Delancey. I wasn't there. GFAFP said it was a ripoff.
All is not happy in Suicide Girl land. The Boston Pheonix reports that, "few could have predicted that almost 40 of the close to 1000 SuicideGirls would stage a Web-out and stalk off the Web site amid claims that despite all its go-girl messaging, SuicideGirls.com is run by people who don't care much about female empowerment." Punk News also reports that" Suicide Girls has suffered some of the chilling effects of the FBI's new anti-pornography campaign." Boing Boing has Suicide Girls' official response.
And in what is the most music-related bit of this post, Suicide Girls have attached their name to a new CD. "The assortment is pretty standard with seminal songs by The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Gene Loves Jezebel, Bauhaus and Joy Division. But the inclusion of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke and Ministry seem to say that this is more about aesthetics (hence the name 'Black Heart Retropsective') and not the original goth scene." Louis XIV Porn | Suicide Girls Video
Louis XIV is one of those bands everyone hates (except the people paying to fill up large venues to see them play). How long does it take to go from cool to uncool?
If you don't like them, but you like naked Suicide Girls, then you'll still want to watch their new video for the song "Paper Doll". (Not Safe for Work)
