"the most emotional show (@ Mercury Lounge for Active Child, Balam Acab, Superhumanoids and New Moods)" - Nicolette Elvie

Active Child at Mercury Lounge 5/11/12
Active Child

Active Child brought his tour with Balam Acab and Superhumanoids to NYC earlier this month for sold out shows at Bowery Ballroom (5/10) and a day later at Mercury Lounge (5/11) with New Moods. After the Mercury Lounge show, Active Child DJ'd the Mondrian with DJ Sean Glass and DJ VIkas.

Speaking of New Moods, they've got a Northside show coming up with a pretty stacked local bill of Zambri, Ice Choir (featuring TPOBPAH's Kurt Feldman), and Fast Years at Spike Hill on June 15. Tickets for that show are on sale.

More pictures from the Mercury Lounge show and some videos from the Bowery Ballroom show below...

Jonquil
Jonquil

Oxford, UK band Jonquil kick off a tour at Glasslands on on Monday (4/2) with Keep Shelly in Athens in tow. Jonquil's new album, Point of Go, is out now on Dovecote records and brimming with melodic, bubbling, slightly angular pop. (A gentler Foals perhaps. They're from the same hometown.) You can stream it on Spotify and watch the video for "It's My Part" at the bottom of this post where you'll also find all tour dates.

Keep Shelly in Athens, meanwhile are releasing a combined version of their In Love with Dusk and Our Own Dreams EPs on one vinyl record that will hit stores April 13. Also worth checking out is their Campus Maritus from late last year.

Opening the Brooklyn show are Brooklyn's own New Moods who we just premiered a track by.

MAgic Kids

Knitting Factory Brooklyn says, "PLEASE NOTE: MAGIC KIDS have cancelled their show tonight due to van problems. Refunds available BEFORE you enter the show, otherwise NO REFUNDS. CULTS and SUPERHUMANOIDS are still playing!"

Tonight's show is one of two NYC gigs on the tour, so hopefully Magic Kids get their van fixed before their scheduled show with Cults and Superhumanoids at Mercury Lounge on Thursday.

Check "What's going on Wednesday" for more shows happening tonight, and don't forget about the free PS I Love You show happening at Mercury Lounge after midnight.

All Magic Kids dates below..
