We've never gotten the Tupac biopic that we probably deserve, though he has appeared as a character in Straight Outta Compton and Notorious. Now some people in China have taken it upon themselves to deliver the goods, as a trailer for an unauthorized Chinese Tupac biopic has recently surfaced online. It's called Until the End of Time and the trailer is pretty psychotic. It seems as though the film will involve a high school student doing a research project on Tupac that leads him to cross paths with Pac's ex-lover, or something along those lines. It's one of the better trailers I've seen in quite some time, and you can watch it below.
In related news, it angered many Tupac fans when Billboard recently published a list of the 10 greatest rappers of all time that omitted Tupac. (But hey, at least Macklemore wasn't involved.) I would note that the list in general shows a pretty strong east coast slant, with Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, Ghostface Killah and Rakim all showing up and Kendrick Lamar the sole west coast rapper recognized on the list. Rappers like T.I., Snoop Dogg and Scarface have taken to social media to express their disagreement with the list, although I would argue that Jay Electronica has perhaps the best take on the situation:
why is everyone so upset about the billboard list. upset over a top 10 list of rap greats written by these dudes? pic.twitter.com/cJDw3YJ6fi— سيف الله (@JayElectronica) November 17, 2015
And for you LA residents, there's also a new Tupac-centric "All Eyez On Me" exhibit at the Grammy Museum downtown.
Check out the trailer for Until The End of Time, along with some anti-Billboard social media posts below...

Talk to me about your recording process in prison. How did you do that?Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz (fka Lil Boosie) released Touch Down 2 Cause Hell, his first album in five years and first since being released from prison, this week. It's got features from T.I., Jeezy, Rick Ross, Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, J. Cole, and the whole thing can be streamed below. Video for its track "Hands Up" below too.
Well it was all kind of ways. I was getting tape recorders, I was getting the guards to sneak me in iPhones. Whatever I had to do!
So you're recording on some burners too and sending them out!
Yup! Sometimes you've got to break the rules to make money, that's just plain and simple. And that's what I was doing! I'm not going to say I went to jail and did right. I'm not going to say that, because I was going through a lot and I needed to be high half the time. I was going through a lot, but it made me value life more. It made me value my career more. It smartened me up. I was doing stupid stuff out there. Even though all these murders and all this was bogus, I was doing stupid stuff to lead people on as far as flashing guns every time you see me on DVDs. You know, that was stupid ass shit! Now I look at it like, "Damn, why was I doing that?" But it was fun then. But once they stack a lot of that against you, once you get in some trouble, that'll make people look at you like, "Hey, he's far from a saint!" [Noisey]
Boosie has a few shows coming up, including one in NYC tonight (5/26) at Webster Hall with DJ Envy. Tickets for tonight's show are available.
All dates are listed below...

Meek Mill already has one sold-out NYC show happening this month at Best Buy Theater (2/12), and he'll also be part of an excellent lineup at Webster Hall (2/15) three days later with Troy Ave, Jeezy, Fabolous and Yo Gotti plus DJ Envy, DJ Clue, DJ Drama, and DJ Infamous. Tickets for this massive show are on sale now.
The rappers on the Webster Hall show also all have new (or relatively new) music. Meek Mill is planning to release a new album called Dreams Worth More Than Money this year and recently dropped the video for his new single "B-Boy," which features his famous friends Big Sean and A$AP Ferg. Check it out below. Big Sean's got a new album on the way too.
Jeezy and T.I. recently put out a short film for their collaborative track "G' Shit" (also with Watch The Duck) off Tip's 2014 album, Paperwork. The 12+ minute video stars T.I., Jeezy, Wood Harris (aka Avon Barksdale from The Wire), and T.I.'s former Boss star Rotimi as '60s gangsters, and you can check it out for yourself below.
Fabolous returned on Christmas with the '90s-influenced new album, The Young OG Project, his first full length since 2009's Loso's Way. He's also planning to release Loso's Way 2 this year, but while you wait for that, check out the video for Young OG Project opener "Lituation" below.
Troy Ave also takes it back to the '90s, teaming up with fellow New York rapper Fat Joe (who's likely an influence on Troy) for Fat Joe's new single "How U Luv Dat." Listen below.
Yo Gotti recently dropped his new Concealed mixtape (download) and even more recently put out the video for the title track. You can watch that below too.

The FADER always has some year-end coverage, but for the past 15 years they didn't publish a ranked year-end list. This year however, they ranked their 116 favorite songs of 2014 (find out why) and it's a diverse list that manages to sing the praises of iLoveMakonnen, Tinashe, Alex G, Florida Georgia Line, Enrique Iglesias, Bleachers, Ricky Eat Acid, YG, Toni Braxton & Babyface, Nothing, Grimes, Parquet Courts, Run the Jewels and Grouper all in the same damn list.
Read more about each choice here and check out the full list below...
NPR have posted their Top 50 Albums of 2014, and like it usually is, it's one of the more diverse year-end lists we've seen so far. There's a lot of the indie that shows up on many of these lists (The War On Drugs, St. Vincent, Spoon, Perfume Genius, Angel Olsen, etc), the hip hop (Run the Jewels, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, YG, Isaiah Rashad, etc), the big-name pop (Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige, Miranda Lambert), the metal (Pallbearer) and plenty of others, as well as classical, jazz, world music, a Latin funk band with an album's worth of Black Sabbath covers, and still more.
Check out their full list in alphabetical order below...
T.I. came to NYC last week (10/30) for Power 105.1 Powerhouse at Barclays Center, and brought out local rapper Troy Ave, who played his recent single "All About the Money." Troy and T.I. also both appeared at the Powerhouse afterparty in NJ. Video from the afterparty, and a stream of that single, below.
Troy, who was named an XXL Freshman this year, now has his own hometown show scheduled. He'll play November 20 at Highline Ballroom, a much bigger venue than the SOB's show he played earlier this year. Tickets are on sale now.

iLoveMakonnen at Warm Up last week (more by PSquared)
Buzzy, Drake-approved rapper iLoveMakonnen had two NYC shows scheduled including one for tonight (9/12) at Gramercy and another for September 25 at Baby's All Right. Tickets for the Baby's show are still available, but tonight's Gramercy show has been cancelled. Refunds are available. Instead, Makonnen will now play another NYC show on Tuesday, October 21 at SOB's. That's the first night of CMJ but it's not clear yet if it's an official show. Tickets are on sale now. Stay tuned for possibly more CMJ shows.
Makonnen isn't the only good hip hop show in NYC that was recently announced. Here's a roundup of a few of the others...
Open Mike Eagle, whose great Dark Comedy LP came out earlier this year, plays a NYC show on October 14 at Glasslands with an all-around impressive lineup of Serengeti and Billy Woods. Tickets are on sale now.
Power 105.1 Powerhouse returns to Barclays Center on October 30 this year with J. Cole, Ne-Yo, Jeezy, Kid Ink, T.I., Childish Gambino, French Montana, Migos, Tinashe, and another newly buzzed-about rapper, Bobby Shmurda, whose single "Hot Nigga" has gone pretty viral thanks to Bobby's "Shmoney Dance" in the video which since inspired the song "Shmoney Dance" by Rowdy Rebbel, featuring Bobby Shmurda. You can watch both of those videos below. Tickets for Power 105.1 Powerhouse are on AmEx/Live Nation presale now, with a general on-sale starting Monday (9/15) at 10 AM.
Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse is releasing a new album, House Slippers, and celebrating on Tuesday (9/16) at SOB's. Tickets are on sale.
Fabolous was supposed to play BB King's on August 23, but that show ended up being rescheduled to September 27. Tickets are on sale and all tickets from 8/23 will be honored. Fabolous also plays the Def Jam 30th anniversary celebration at Barclays Center.
Those are of course just a few of the many great hip hop shows coming up in NYC. Other previously discussed shows include Vince Staples, Tyler the Creator, Wu-Tang / Dipset, The Weeknd / Schoolboy Q, Vic Mensa / Iggy Azalea, Ab-Soul (which Bas was added to), Big K.R.I.T., Joey Bada$$, Run the Jewels, Flatbush Zombies / Underachievers and still more. What else?

Pitchfork just posted their Top 100 Tracks of 2013. It's got what some people might call the worst song ever, the song with the most talked-about rap verse of the year, some surprises, and some of the year's most undeniable songs. Their #1 pick is certainly one of those undeniable songs, whether or not you're a fan of the artist who made it. What do you think of their list? Did your favorite song make it? Any glaring omissions?
Check out the full top 100 below...
Production duo TNGHT (aka Hudson Mohawke and Lunice), who are playing this year's Pitchfork Festival, are about to kick off their North American tour this month, which surrounds their appearances at Coachella. That tour was initially supposed to hit NYC for shows at Webster Hall on April 16 and 17 but TNGHT have cancelled the April 16 date. They're still playing on April 17 though and tickets for that show are still available. Updated dates are listed below.
TNGHT also produced the track "Lay It Down," which appears on Lil Wayne's new album I Am Not A Human Being II. Nicki MInaj is also on that track and you can stream it below.
Wayne is supporting that album on a huge tour with T.I. (who recently played NYC at Best Buy Theater) and Future. That tour hits the NYC area on July 19 at Jones Beach and July 24 at PNC Bank Arts Center. Tickets for those shows are not on sale yet but you can check ticketmaster for updates.

T.I. at SXSW 2012 (more by Ryan Muir)
T.I. resurfaced at the tail-end of 2012 with Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head, a solid comeback album and a great reminder of who's actually responsible for Trap in a year when people think it's a new genre. You can stream six of its tracks, including party banger "Ball" and the Andre 3000-featuring album highlight "Sorry," below.
Back in December, T.I. came to NYC for a show at Best Buy Theater with A$AP Rocky (who we just played Public Assembly), and he'll be returning to that venue for a show with Joe Budden on March 7. Tickets for that show are on sale now. It's part of Metro PC's 5th anniversary of their "5 Boro Takeover Tour," which also includes tonight's (2/26) Kendrick Lamar shows at Roseland and the Alicia Keys/Miguel shows.
The Best Buy Theater show is T.I.'s only announced date that we're aware of at the moment. Song streams below...

He'll be taping a performance in midtown this afternoon and will head to Fuse Studios after that for a performance at 9 PM, which will stream live at the Fuse YouTube channel. It's about that time of the year when the Christmas songs start piling. We just heard Ex Cops take on Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime", and now The xx have revealed a cover of Wham's "Last Christmas" on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge this morning. Check it out below.
A$AP Rocky at FFF Fest 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
A$AP Rocky appeared on BET's "106 & Park" earlier this week (12/3) to reveal his new video for his posse cut, "Fuckin' Problem," which features Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and 2 Chainz. On the show, he also revealed the cover art for his new album, Long.Live.A$AP, and announced that it will be out January 15, after much delay. You can watch the "Fuckin' Problem" video and check out the album art below.
As mentioned, Rocky will be touring with Rihanna and playing NYC on May 4 and 5 at Barclays Center (night 1 sold out, night 2 tickets on sale) but if you'd prefer not to see him opening for a huge pop star in a huge arena, you can catch opening for T.I. at Best Buy Theater on December 18. Rocky appears on TI's upcoming album, Trouble Man (which drops the day of the show), on the track, "Wildside," so maybe he'll come out to perform it with Tip at the show. Tickets for that one are still available.
As mentioned, T.I. recently dropped the Andre 3000-featuring track, "Sorry," off Trouble Man. If you missed it, you can stream that below, along with the A$AP Rocky video, cover art, and a list of updated dates.

As mentioned, Big Boi releases his second solo album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, next week (12/11) via Def Jam. His solo debut, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, is still my single favorite hip hop album of the new decade so naturally I've been seriously anticipating VLADR since Big Boi mentioned he began work on it. And admittedly, the album is a bit overshadowed by its predecessor, due in part to lacking a song as huge as "Shutterbug." But though the album never hits a moment as large as that one, it's still a winner in its own right.
Vicious Lies opens up like a classic OutKast album, with a short, slow and pretty intro track that leads right into a blunted headknocker, "The Thickets," which appropriately features Sleepy Brown of Organized Noize, who worked on a lot of early OutKast. The bar continues to raise on the next track, a rhythmic club track up there with "Tangerine" or the Big Boi-featuring Janelle Monae track from that same year, "Tightrope." The album plateaus a bit there but more standouts start appearing later on with tracks like "Thom Pettie," a dirty synth track with a great hook from Little Dragon and a characteristically abrasive verse from Killer Mike. Later on we get "Lines," which is probably the best track on the album thanks to a killer chorus from Phantogram that doesn't leave your head once its in there (A$AP Rocky is on the track too). But the most interesting moment of the album has to be "Shoes For Running," which is carried by a hook sung by Wavves dude Nathan Williams. The only thing stopping it from being a total head scratcher is that Nathan toured with GZA and Killer Mike (which itself was a head scratcher) and I still can't decide if it's one of those fun indie/rap collabs like Kid Cudi and MGMT's "Pursuit of Happiness that you'll be hearing all year, or just plain weird. But the fact that I'm still going on about it must say something.
Before that, Big Boi will stop by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday (12/7) to perform "Mama Told Me" with Little Dragon, who were initially supposed to guest on the song's recording, but were replaced on the album by Kelly Rowland.
Since we last spoke about the album, Big Boi has (legally) revealed two more of its tracks, the Kid Cudi-featuring "She Hates Me," and the T.I. and Ludacris-featuring Atlanta boasting party "In the A," both of which you can hear below. In related news, TI just revealed his storied track with Andre 3000, "Sorry," which will appear on his upcoming Trouble Man LP and can also be streamed below.
by Andrew Sacher
As expected, there have been lots of (dangerous) rumors floating around about Big Boi's upcoming sophomore solo album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, which is due out December 11 via Def Jam (pushed back from November 13). He's now revealed what is (fingers crossed!) the official tracklist for the album and the guest spots are pretty exciting. Despite Little Dragon's initial guest spot having gone to Kelly Rowland a while back, the group actually appears on three other album tracks. The album's got plenty of love from the dirty south, like on "Gossip," which features veteran UGK and worthy newcomer Big K.R.I.T.; frequent Outkast/Big Boi collaborator Killer Mike appears on a track with Little Dragon; TI and Ludacris end up on a track together; and Sleepy Brown of Organized Noize, who produced a ton of Outkast back in the day is on one too. In more surprising (and also exciting) news, Wavves and Jai Paul are both on the album. As is A$AP Rocky, Phantogram, Kid Cudi, and others. You can check out the full tracklist below.
In related news, TI also revealed the tracklist for his much-delayed upcoming album, Trouble Man (due out 12/18), and it looks a bit different than the one we initially mentioned. The most striking difference is that the song sampling Gotye and featuring Kendrick Lamar is not listed anymore. But in more positive news, Big Boi's Outkast partner Andre 3000 is there on the song, "Sorry" (the one where he allegedly apologizes to Big Boi). Cee Lo Green, A$AP Rocky, R. Kelly, and more are set to appear too. The full tracklist is below. TI plays NYC on December 18 at Best Buy Theater (tickets).
T.I. at SXSW 2012 (more by Ryan Muir)
Atlanta MC T.I. is prepping to release Trouble Man, his eighth studio album, before the end of the year. Though not named after the the excellent Marvin Gaye soundtrack of the same name, as a recent listening party can attest, the LP does dip its toes into samples from that effort while logging guest spots from R. Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, No I.D., P!nk, Cee-Lo, Pharrell Williams and more. Gotye gets into the mix via a sample on TI's track "Somebody That I Used To Know". Stream some tracks below.
In the meantime, the promotional arm is in full swing for T.I. and you can look for the MC to play some live dates. One of those goes down in NYC on December 18th at Best Buy. Tickets are on sale now.

"That's y!" says Snoop Dogg...
Did Snoop Dogg talk much politics at his Wellmont Theater show last week? That picture above, no not the cats, is his Tweeted list of reasons for voting for Obama, and for not voting Romney.
Kanye West has much less to say, for now. All his amazing tweets have been deleted except for one new one that says "BE BACK SOON". UPDATE: Now there are also three tweets about Steve Jobs.
Bummed to hear that Big Boi, who recently played Chicago's North Coast Music Fest, replaced Little Dragon with Kelly Rowland on the final version of the song he performed live with Little Dragon in Austin.
Creed frontman Scott Stapp says T.I. saved his life.
Missy Elliot may actually release an album this year.

Speaking of, Jay-Z is in a new marriage equality ad.

DOWNLOAD: Freddie Gibbs - "Pull Up" w/ Young Jeezy & T.I. (MP3)
Freddie Gibbs has a new DJ Drama 'Gangsta Grillz' mixtape titled Baby Face Killa on the way which was tentatively scheduled for a Memorial Day release. It looks like that release has been pushed back a bit, but Freddie did just drop a new track to his soundcloud page which will appear on the tape. The song's called "Pull Up" and features help from trap rap greats Young Jeezy and T.I. and production from Lil C. The track flies by at just under three minutes, but that's just enough time for all three rappers to go HAM all over the king of krump's beats. Download an MP3 of the track above or stream it below.
Freddie GIbbs, who appears on Statik Seletak & Termanology's 2012 LP, was just added as an opener to their NYC show which happens on Tuesday (5/29) at SOB's. As mentioned, the show is one of their few release shows for 2012, and will also feature "surprise guests." Tickets for that show are still available. An updated flier, which now includes Freddie GIbbs, is pictured below, along with the "Pull Up" stream and a list of all dates.

Iggy Azalea @ SOB's
"I wasn't dropped by Interscope," Iggy told XXL moments after her performance in front of a sold-out crowd at SOBs in New York City on Thursday night (May 17). "I'm still managed by [Interscope], but when T.I. came on board and it became a Grand Hustle thing. We were working on restructuring and we worked down to the final deal. There's things that change when other people get involved. For me, I choose my involvement with Tip because that's my family over other things, so I'm thankful that I have him and he can kinda get me out of that situation; now it's just strictly Grand Hustle."Australian rapper Iggy Azalea stopped in NYC to play a sold out show at SOB's on Thursday (5/17) before continuing on to play Bamboozle in NJ. We actually do have some pics from the NJ show as well, but while we wait for those, where are some from the NY one. More of them with videos and the setlist from SOB's, below...
Her statement was corroborated by Interscope's Vice President of Publicity, Yvette Gayle, who told XXL that despite the news of Iggy's alleged deal in January, that Azalea never officially signed on with the imprint.
"Iggy decided not to sign with Interscope, but she is still managed by Interscope Management," Gayle explained in a statement sent to XXL.
Georgia rapper Future released his official debut album, Pluto, on Epic Records last month, following a series of mixtapes, including 2012's Astronaut Status. Pluto features guest spots from R. Kelly, T.I., Drake, Snoop Dogg, Juicy J, and others. Check out videos of "Tony Montana" [Ft. Drake], "Magic (Remix)" [Ft. T.I.], and "Same Damn Time," below.
Future will be embarking on a two month long tour of the US in support of the album, which kicks off later this month with support from Pusha T. The tour hits NYC on June 4 at Irving Plaza. Tickets go on sale today, Friday (5/11) at 10 AM.
All dates and videos below...
Is there anything more confusing than two up and coming, feuding female hip hop stars, both with the name "Azalea" (like the flower), but one is a last name and one is a first name spelled "Azealia"?
The latter just played her first two shows ever at Coachella and is now on her way back to NYC (the 212) to work with Missy Elliot (and she is very proud of that). Earlier today she was tweeting at T.I. (see above) for calling her feud with his Australian Grand Hustle signee Iggy Azalea "bitch shit," or some sexist shit like that.

Emiliana Torrini has added a string of North American tour dates around her August 14th Highline Ballroom show. Tickets for the NYC show are still on sale. Opening that show and a few others will be singer-songwriter Anya Marina (whose Myspace features a cover of TI's "Whatever You Like")
