This year's FADER Fort is located at 38 Delancey Street at Forsyth and runs from 2-9PM on Friday and Saturday (10/22-10/23). Full lineups have yet to be announced, but some of the artists playing there are Jamaica, Zowie, Cloud Nothings, Wild Nothing, and The Knux. You can RSVP (though admission is still based on capacity). "CMJ Music Marathon registrants will receive expedited admission into The FADER Fort. Registrants must also RSVP to this invitation and pick up FADER credentials/wristbands for admission."

Pitchfork's events are at Brooklyn Bowl Thursday-Saturday, and those now also include Surfer Blood (one more on their growing list of CMJ shows) on Thursday.

Our BrooklynVegan events are at MHOW Thursday, and Public Assembly Friday & Saturday (and Union Pool Saturday night).

GZA at ATP (more by Abbey Braden)

I already ran through some of the upcoming hip hop shows, many of them for CMJ (Ghostface, Audible Treats, Blacksmith & Duck Down included). Here are some more.

GZA will headline the Frankradio x Babygrande x iHipHop Distribution CMJ Showcase at Le Poisson Rouge alongside appearances from DJ Premier, Tabi Bonney, Trademark da Skydiver, Marz Lovejoy , Polyester the Saint, Lavish, Rocky Business, Christian Rich and as well as DJ Jasmine Solano. The show, which goes down Thursday 10/21 kicks off at 11PM and tickets are on sale (or use your CMJ badge).

Meanwhile, DJ Premier recently released a classic freestyle from the Stretch & Bobbito Show which features 10 minutes of Big L and Jay-Z. If you are a fan of either, it's a must (stream/DL it below). Listen closely though, as you can hear Jay-Z scheming to steal the line "all I got for chicks is hard dick & bubblegum" for his song "A Million & One Questions" (which came out two years after this freestyle).

Speaking of the late/great Big L, Return of the Devil's Son is the posthumous MC's new album which will feature "21 unreleased songs" and see release on 11/23 via Distrolord/SMC Recordings. Check out a reworking of the Big L classic "Danger Zone" called "Zone of Danger" stream/downloadable below courtesy RCRD LBL. Full tracklisting is below too.

And last but certainly not least, Knitting Factory will host the return of Leaders Of The New School on 12/23 with Son of Bazerk (who recently came back at Central Park), and DJ sets from Johnny Juice (Public Enemy) and J-Zone. Tickets are on sale. For the unaware, LONS was Busta Rhymes' first project before going solo with the monster hit "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check". LONS also is featured in the A Tribe Called Quest classic "Scenario".

UPDATE: grandgood reports that: "ccording to DJ Johnny Juice, Busta Rhymes is not part of this show. Only Dinco D, Charlie Brown and Cut Monitor Milo will be performing along with Son Of Bazerk. Still sounds like a dope show."

"Damon "Dame" Dash co-founded Roc-a-Fella Records, helped launch the career of Jay-Z and discovered Kanye West. He's produced or executive-produced about a dozen films, including the well-received 2002 urban flick "Paid in Full" and the 2004 movie "The Woodsman," starring Kevin Bacon. And he started lucrative apparel lines like Rocawear and Rachel Roy, of which he is still part owner with his wife, the company's namesake.

But the 37-year-old Dash still says he gets snubbed by the music industry. Media reports last year about his alleged financial difficulties and legal problems probably didn't help. "My mistake was watching everyone else's careers and not watching mine,'' he says.

More important was his acrimonious split a few years ago with his old friend and business partner Jay-Z. "It was like, either you are on his side or on mine," he says. "And because of all that, there's resistance on every level with me and the shit just bugs me out." [Billboard]

New venue Under 100 (located in the basement of the Tribeca building where Damon Dash's office is located) is quickly becoming famous, after just two shows. The first, in November, featured sets by Sleigh Bells, Javelin & Knyfe Hyts 81 with help from Mos Def, Curren$y, and others. The second, just two nights ago (12/8), was rumored to include a performance by Blakroc (featuring Mos Def) who were on Letterman that same night. That didn't happen, but The Cool Kids, The London Souls, Curren$y (again), and some others did play. Mos Def and Damon Dash (again) were just hanging out. The third show is....

OK, so it's not as much a big bang as last year (A Tribe Called Quest reunion) or the one before (Rage Against The Machine reunion), but Rock The Bells 2009 does have some interesting artists on the lineup. Besides a welcome reunion (Reflection Eternal) (Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek), one suspect one (House of Pain) and some great repeat offenders (Nas, RZA, Raekwon, MOP, Sage Francis, Slum Village), this year's Rock The Bells also boasts an Outkast (Big Boi), a windy city fave (Common), and a true sicko (Necro).
