Moderat @ Moogfest 2014 (via @FestivalSnob)
Moderat

Moogfest is currently underway in Asheville, NC and runs through Sunday (4/27). Tonight (4/26) there's performances from Chic, M.I.A., Factory Floor, Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks, and more.

Last night, Moderat, the collaborative project between Modeselektor and Apparat, played the festival. They don't play North America too often, and their last NYC show was Electric Zoo 2013, but now that Moogfest is behind them they'll be playing a couple more shows on our shores, including one in Brooklyn TONIGHT (4/26) at 1260 Atlantic Ave with Nikola Baytala, Taimur & Fahad and Lauren Ritter. Tickets for tonight's show, which is presented by TBA Brooklyn, Resolute and Wordless Music, are available. Show flyer and list of remaining dates below.

LA hip hop producer The Gaslamp Killer also played Moogfest last night, and will come to NYC tonight as well. He's playing 88 Palace tonight (4/26) with psychedelic rap great Edan, Fool's Gold's Nick Catchdubs and Pablo Ygal. Tickets for that show are on sale now too. All of his dates are listed below as well.

DJ Koze

As usual, newish Williamsburg dance club Output has a ton of great upcoming shows, including James Murphy, Rustie, Zomby, SBTRKT (DJ set), the just-mentioned Duke Dumont show, and a number of Bunker parties. A bunch of other good shows were recently announced too, including...

German producer DJ Koze, who released Amygdala, an excellent guest-filled album with Caribou, Apparat, Matthew Dear, Milosh (of Rhye) and more, this year, will play an "extended set" at Blkmarket's daytime/night time party at Output on August 10. That party also includes sets from John Roberts (live), Carsten Jost, Taimur & Fahad, and Ostrich. Tickets for that one are on sale now. You can stream Amygdala in its entirety below.

On August 9, jazzy UK beatmaker Floating Points will be teaming up with NYC's FaltyDL for an Output show. Tickets available on Resident Advisor and Ticketfly.

Resident Advisor is throwing a party at the venue, that will sprall across the main room and the Panther Room, on August 3, which includes sets from Robert Hood as Floorplan, Shifted, Holly Herndon, MGUN, Marcellus Pittman, Joey Anderson, and more TBA. Tickets for that party are on sale now. Flyer below.

And lastly (for now), one of those Bunker parties we were talking about above is an especially notable one happening on August 2 with Demdike Stare headlining. The rest of the lineup includes Atom™ and The Bunker's Derek Plaslaiko. Tickets for that party are available on Resident Advisor and Ticketfly. Flyer below.

Nina Kraviz

Nina Kraviz, who released her excellent debut album last year, is going on an international tour this year which brings her to Williamsburg dance club Output on July 3 for a Blkmarket-presented show with Ben Klock and Taimur & Fahad. Tickets for that show are on sale now. Her only other US show that we're aware of is Movement Festival in Detroit. All dates are listed below (via Resident Advisor).

Nina has been making headlines lately due to her "bath scene" (pictured above) from the interview video Resident Advisor did with her last month. FACT pointed to an article by Greg Wilson about Nina over-sexualizing herself, which Nina responded to in her own letter on Facebook. More controversy arose when Crosstown Rebels' Maceo Plex offered his take on it (which he's since apologized for). And FACT published another article on the matter, which discussed sexism in music, an issue that was also publicly taken on by Grimes and by Solange this week.

All Nina Kraviz dates are listed, along with the Resident Advisor video, a music video, and her entire Facebook letter, below...

Joy Orbison
Joy Orbison

UK producer Joy Orbison (aka Peter O'Grady) hasn't been to the US in about two years and he recently announced that he'll be going on a short North American tour this February. That tour brings him to NYC for a Blkmarket-presented Nonplus+ Records showcase at a TBA Brooklyn location on February 15. Tickets for that show are on sale now. Joy Orbison will be playing with Nonplus+ head Boddika, and the bill also features Joey Anderson and Blkmarket DJs Taimur & Fahad.

The show doubles as an album release party for Think and Change, an upcoming compilation from NonPlus+ which is due out on February 25. The compilation features a deep house track from Boddika and Joy Orbison ("&Fate") and a wobbly cut from Joy Orbison solo ("Big Room Tech House Dj Tool - TIP!"), both of which you can stream below, and the latter of which you can download above. It also features tracks by Four Tet, Pearson Sound, Martyn, Instra:mental, and more. The full tracklist is below.

Joy Orbison's tour dates also include a London show on the European tour that Mister Saturday Night (Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin's NYC dance party) is going on in February. Mister Saturday Night also has a ton of local events in NYC coming up, including one with FaltyDL.
