Target "apologizes" for CBGB "tribute" at East Village store opening

Over the weekend, megastore chain Target celebrated the opening of its East Village location with a recreation of a ’70s NYC streetfront that included a “tribute” to punk club CBGB called TRGT that featured “Bands” (aka Target branded band-aids, exercise bands and hair bands). This didn’t go over well with a lot of people and have now issued an apology (via New York Times):

We often host a one-day celebration that shows the neighborhood how excited we are to be part of their community. We sincerely apologize if some eventgoers felt it was not the best way to capture the spirit of the neighborhood. We always appreciate guest feedback and will take it into consideration as we plan for future opening events.
