Heathered Pearls

Ambient artist Heathered Pearls (aka Jakub Alexander) released his lush, transportive album, Loyal, last year via Ghostly International. Alexander has now handed that album over to a host of other talented folks -- Teen Daze, Solar Year, Nitemoves and more -- for a remix album, Loyal Reworks, which is out September 10. We've got the premiere of the very dreamy "Foxes In Fiction Tape Remix" of "The Worship Bell," which leads the album, and you can stream it in this post.

As mentioned, Heathered Pearls will be opening for Beacon and Shigeto in NYC this weekend on Saturday (8/31) at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are still available but if you wan't to go for free, we have a pair to give away. Details are below.

Check out the Foxes in Fiction remix -- and the tracklist for the whole LP -- below.

Pan Act

In June 2013, ISSUE Project Room and the Goethe-Institut New York present PAN_ACT, a multi-faceted series of performances, talks, and installations exploring parallel strategies in conceptual art, underground dance, and experimental music. Curated by ISSUE Project Room's Lawrence Kumpf and Berlin-based designer and founder of the PAN label Bill Kouligas, PAN_ACT presents a diverse array of artists working in Berlin, London, Boston, and New York, drawn largely from the PAN roster. Sixteen events span multiple venues including ISSUE Project Room and the Goethe-Institut Wyoming Building, as well as collaborative presentations with MoMA PS1, The Bunker, Mutual Dreaming, Make Music New York, NPR Music, and Non-Event (Boston).
The PAN_ACT festival described above kicked off in NYC last Friday (6/14), and it's continuing through Saturday, June 29. It's already included a number of forward-thinking events throughout the week, and there's even more coming up, including...

Tonight (6/21) at Issue Project Room (22 Boerum Place in Brooklyn), LA experimentalist Joseph Hammer, Athens producer Jar Moff (who worked on RVNG's Harald Grosskopf - Re-Syntheist project), and German minimalist producer Thomas Brinkmann are teaming up to perform solo sets. Tickets are available.

Tonight (6/21) at K&K Super Buffet (341 St Nicholas Ave in Queens), The Bunker is throwing a late (11 PM - 6 AM) party with Downwards label head Regis, UK-based ambient artist Lee Gamble, art pop beatmaker Laurel Halo (live), veteran electronic musician Keith Fullerton Whitman (live), and PAN label head Bill Kouligas (live). Tickets for tonight's show are available. Flyer below.

Saturday (6/22) at Issue Project Room, Resident Advisor is presenting a show with IPR's 2013 artist-in-residence Ben Vida, London's Helm, and composer Jefre Cantu-Ledesma performing with collaborator/filmmaker Paul Clipson. Tickets for that one are on sale.

Saturday (6/22) at 285 Kent, Resident Advisor and NYC party Mutual Dreaming are teaming up for a late show (10 PM - 4 AM) with live sets by Detroit techno vet/Juan Atkins associate Terrence Dixon and abstract hip hop collaboration Sensational & Koyxen, plus DJ sets by Berlin's Call Super and DJ Richard. Tickets for that one are available. Show flyer below.

PAN_ACT also includes the first installment of this year's Warm Up at MoMA PS1, which happens on June 29 with Juan Atkins, Lee Gamble, Heatsick, Koyxen, and Bill Kouligas. Tickets for that one are still available.

More info at Issue Project Room's site. Full upcoming PAN_ACT schedule and flyers below...

Kendrick Lamar

FACT is still one of the best sources for cutting edge electronic music, and I always look forward to their top 50 albums of the year list, which they've just published for 2012. As usual, it doesn't only contain electronic albums.

This year's list has a good deal of indie rap (Haleek Maul, Schoolboy Q, Le1f, Main Attrakionz, Spaceghostpurrp) and it's the only non-metal list I've seen so far with Black Breath's Sentenced to Life (!). And of course, to compliment the dancefloor records, it's got its fair share of electronic-tinged indie pop, forward thinking R&B, and outsider experimental music.

Check out the full list below.
