Mirroring the sentiment that was out in force this past weekend, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down will headline a Planned Parenthood benefit at Bowery Ballroom on April 4th with The Bloodsugars. Tickets go on sale Thursday 3/3 at noon. Thao & The Get Down Stay Down are also scheduled to play SXSW and the sold-out Coachella festival next month. All dates are below.

In related news, Thao's collaborative efforts and tours with Mirah last year have borne fruit, as the pair are preparing to release an LP entitled "Thao & Mirah" via Kill Rock Stars on April 26th. Check out the album's first track, "Eleven", which features and was produced by tUnE-yArDs. MP3 above and stream below. Johnny Appleseed Tickets went back on sale for tonight's Demetri Martin show at Bowery Ballroom (2/19), and for tomorrow's at Music Hall of Williamsburg (2/20).

The Appleseed Cast added a 2nd NYC show at Mercury Lounge. Now they're playing twice, early and late, at the same venue on April 18th. Tickets are now on sale for both. More dates HERE.

Tickets are on Am Ex presale for a May 14th Thao and the Get Down Stay Down show at Bowery Ballroom

Kevin Devine is playing Bowery Ballroom on April 24th. Tickets are on sale.

Illinois is playing Mercury lounge on May 5th. Tickets are on sale.

Thao @ Merc

Kyle photographed them Monday night at Terminal 5 (they were opening for Rilo Kiley) and he did it again last night at Mercury Lounge (a headlining show added at the last minute) (June 4, 2008).

In addition to playing music, Thao told a funny story about how some guy in a beret led her to a much too expensive internet cafe during the day. Then after checking her email she walked back to mercury lounge and kept smelling fish and vinegar. When she got to mercury lounge her bandmates pointed out that it was bird poop on her face that smelled like that, not the whole city. She cleaned it off and moved on.

Tickets are (still) on sale for two upcoming NYC-area I'm From Barcelona shows in April. The band from Sweden is playing Maxwell's before they play Coachella and then coming back to the area to play the Brooklyn Masonic Temple after Coachella (and a couple other California shows). Thao Nguyen live on WNYC

It was just six posts ago that the name "Nguyen" became the topic of conversation, and it was in that same post that we found out Thao Nguyen was on the radio yesterday. Now you can listen to that radio broadcast in the little embedded player up above, and you can hear Thao explain how to pronounce "Nguyen" in the video below (and keep watching because she sings a really good song after she finishes talking about, Kill Rock Stars, hoodies and other stuff).....
